Mandy

Mandy is an excellent resource for actors who aren't yet spotlight approved and are still trying to gain professional credits to aim towards being registered on Spotlight. There are loads of castings posted regularly that suit various people with various casting types.

I recently discovered and joined Mandy after being referred to the website by a friend. It is a great way to discover a wide range of opportunities within the film, theatre, and other creative industries and kickstart your career in media.

Mandy is very professional and an excellent platform for performers to showcase there skills as well as seek work. The quality of casting is higher than anywhere else and the layout is very helpful and easy to navigate! I have already recommended Mandy to several fellow actors and counting!

Having just signed up with the Mandy Network, I can confidently say the signing up process was extremely easy and straight forward. No unecessary steps or questions and you're on your way to finding jobs

There are quite a few opportunities on this website and I think it's good for people starting out when you live in London (or another popular place), but there aren't many opportunities for non-premium members!

Mandy is an amazing platforms where new grads as myself can find exciting opportunities and connect with professionals around the UK (and not only!). I would recommend it to anyone seeking a new job opportunity as well as to employers in need for staff / crew!

This is the second time I have engaged the promise of Mandy.com and again the results are disappointing. Ten years ago I created a professional profile to assist my 30 year career in the film industry as a union member of the Art Directors guild and Local 44. After receiving multiple job alerts each week for art department positions as a "free member", I chose to pay for an account only to discover the job posting vanished. Of the entire year as a paid member, I received less than 5 alerts that fit my profile as a production designer or art director, where as a free member I would see at least 2 or three each week. Based on a suggestion from a colleague and thinking Mandy.com had changed their policies, I created an account once again only to discover the very same practice of a "Bait and Switch". As a "free member" you are restricted from applying to any position or inquiring even for at least (1) one position. Fearing the worst and asking others in the industry, again the very same situation occurs that once you pay the fee, the promise of work vanishes. Mandy.com may work for some other professions, however for the film professional on a personal level, a professional has a 1,000% greater chance of obtaining work by going to local mixers and community events than wasting money on a service that has zero results. For the money, the service is just a waste of time, a professional has a far greater chance of projects posting on LinkedIn than posting on Mandy.com

While the idea of forking over for the premium may seem daunting to those starting in the industry, I can whole heartedly recommend that you give it a go. I took the plunge for a full year and it paid itself off almost immediately!

I created a new Mandy account in the hopes of finding more job opportunities as a crew. At first glance it looks pretty promising with the specificity of job titles listed under crew, but I also don't see that many jobs listed under the latest jobs. Still trying to dig deeper, hope it won't disappoint!

You get free membership for 30 days; I wanted to pay for the Premium membership, only to find it one is restricted to 1 skill genre, e.g. acting. So, if you're an actor, who also wants to get voice-over work, then you have to pay £130. Plus VAT for the acting, AND £107. Plus VAT for the voice-over part. There is no way to 'bundle' both, and they don't have any way offers to enable one to do this. It's completely un-acceptable that in the 'free' 30 days one can apply for any job genre, like singing or acting, giving the impression that is what the full membership will entail. Its mis-representation, misleading, and I will be contacting Trading Standards. Utterly unacceptable. Don't go anywhere near them.

I have been a member of Mandy for a number of years and have to say it has grown to be the number one resource for jobs in Film, Theatre, Music etc, especially technical and engineering, production and other film related jobs. Whilst you initially think the membership fee is a tad high, it does open doors! It is well worth becoming a "Premium Member" as most of the work offered is well paid.
