I've been using this platform, on and off for about a couple of years now. I'm an animator and artist and I've been using this platform to suss out opportunities. It's alright, but it is a shame that a lot of the good features are premium. It would've been a bit more helpful if we were able to apply for a listing, or anything similar. It's too limited a platform at the moment, but I do enjoy seeing all the amazing opportunities on there.
Recently I signed up for several voiceover websites. I have to say, Mandy, is the most user-friendly experience out of the four popular sites I signed up for. I have yet to get a job, but I am new, either, and I believe mandy.com has a lot to offer even on the free account side, gearing me up for premium, & is extremely informative in a plethora of ways, giving me the institutional knowledge needed to gain a better understanding of how the VO industry works. Soon I believe I will be obtaining customized jobs that will hopefully continue to cater to my development and style.
As an art department member, I find the majority of jobs are for other depts and not super relevant, but there are a few posts on a regular basis, sometimes a couple per week or per month. I find it's easy to keep an eye on the email notifications and watch out for anything relevant that way - overall worth signing up to.
Brilliant service. Easy to use & accessible for all. Would definitely recommend this site. Especially to performers who may not have agents. It is very cost-effective and they even offer payment plans for people who would rather pay monthly. Very beneficial for students and professional actors who are seeking new opportunities. Brilliant platform with lots to offer.

I have been using Mandy on and off for a few years whenever I am looking for casting notices or production work. The site used to be entirely free online; you could search and apply for jobs for free. However, they have switched to a subscription-based model. It is still a handy tool and has the possibility of helping people find work. However, I wish the free version of the site allowed more opportunities to search and apply all jobs. Perhaps they could try a tiered system where "premium" or "featured" gigs required a fee, and general calls for PAs and/or extras were free.

I'm new to the entertainment industry. I thought that starting with a platform like this would be a good and easy way to get connected with the right people. It said it was free so of course I jumped on the opportunity. Then when I start applying for jobs I find out I have to upgrade to get access to all the jobs, mainly the ones with pay. Without the upgrade in membership your opportunities are very limited.

I'm relatively new to acting in the UK and I have had a difficult time getting any jobs. I don't want to spend more money than I already have on agencies and other sites that claim to get you jobs but don't actually help you get anything. A friend recommended the Mandy website, and although registration is free, I'm upset that I have to pay to get any real benefits from the site. It would be nice if there were more opportunities for free accounts. Don't get me wrong, Mandy is a good site but most actors don't want to be spending money that they're not making. The free time initiative is great but it's so limited. It can be frustrating when all you want is a gig / a foot in the door. I hope this changes soon.

Unlike indeed, It gives you opportunities that you would not get. The premium makes sense because you would earn more than the annual bill. I am a university student and this is perfect for paid opportunities. 100% recommend.

I have been part of mandy for a few years managed to get my foot in the door with a few different industries. Easy to use although could do with a couple more features. Well worth it though as i've landed a big job in 2 months so worth it already!

I get many emails from these jokers everyday - all of which require you to become a premium member at a ridiculous price. Most reputable casting agents do not charge a signing up fee, but take a commission on work you do for them.
That's how it should be and NOT fleecing people who are trying to make their way in the entertainment industry.

To have to pay a considerable amount of money to join a site whith so little chance of success is almost criminal! The whole premise is misguided. Each job placed on the site requires hopeful vo artistes to submit an audition audio tape with their application and most of these never even get listened to. There are simply too many people applying for too few jobs. Whereas Fiverr.com doesn't charge for joining but like any agent charges 20% for each Gig gained. It shows how fiver expects its sellers to succeed which is why it can make money purely from agency fees, While Mandy voice makes it's money from sign on fees and could never survive on taking a cut from work gained because there just isn't enough of it. 2,3 maybe 5 jobs offered a day as against fivers hundreds of freelance jobs a day.

As a standard user, you are able to apply for any of the roles posted to our opportunities boards. However, our Paid Jobs Boards are part of our Premium service. I started using Mandy 10 years ago, back then it was a useful site to find short-term production jobs.
About 3 years ago it went downhill fast. Users had to pay £30/month or £200(?) a year just to read job descriptions and apply, this should be illegal but they used a loophole in some 'advertising' law. Insulting.
Since then they've managed to make things worse, people now have to pay for the £200+VAT yearly subscription.
This is absolutely ridiculous, I'd understand if I had to pay a couple of quid to apply for a job (although still wouldn't be too happy about it) but £200?!
People need to stop giving them money so they can either disappear for good or rethink their business model.
Like most businesses, it was better when it was good ol' Mandy before they got bought out buy a bigger, more evil fish!

I have absolutely no problem getting work anywhere else (15 years experience, 10 years in cinema - you can Google my name) so it's not because I'm not cutting the mustard as an applicant. Besides, if Mandy was designed well, it would show a 'reply rate' for people/ orgs posting jobs so you can see which ones actually reply to applicants. It creates a culture of potentially fake ads (created by Mandy's own staff, to make the website look like it's full of well paid exciting gigs which you can only apply for when you subscribe) and I get responses of any kind to about 2% of my applications. I can't believe it's taken me almost 3 years to cancel my membership; I think I just kept thinking it was me not making strong enough applications, but then continuing to get loads of work elsewhere.
Avoid like bubonic plague.
PS. I've raised these concerns with Mandy.com and after 3 years of paid membership, they can't be bothered to even reply to any email I send.
Not even sure if they're legal.

I got into Sesame Workshop from Mandy in 2009. Now it's a sham. What's worse is that I just recommended it to my local employment office that is skeptical that I am looking for a job after my recent lay off, because I dismissed their clueless job boards. Great. Now artists are subjected to sites that have NO CLUE about our industry. Indeed et al. Have no idea what the proper jobs titles are, which leads to endless confusion. How I hate apply for a "graphic artist" position, just see if the employer really means "character designer" (character designs with turnarounds w/o color) or "visual development" (fully color backgrounds and characters). What a mess. What a tragedy.

Mandy is really good for building up your showreel which makes it more likely for you to book actual paid gigs. The safety is still an issue, especially with the fact that actors still cannot look at the profile of a director or producer, to check out if they are legit and safe.

I'm an actress, and I love that Mandy has been upgraded. The new website offers jobs you can't find in other places. I will say that it's worth the price to upgrade in order to be able to submit. It's a numbers game, so why not take a tax-deductible write-off as an actor or actress and allow yourself to submit to more opportunities.

Answer: I paid the subscription fee for a year, mainly so I can get speaking parts on any kind of production. I don't even care if they're mostly student productions, as I get film footage from them, which is very usable. However, if you're thinking of paying the subscription fee to get paid work, I would advise against it. You will not get much paid work through Mandy. If you want paid work, you're better off getting an office job that will pay far more than the NMW that's offered by most productions. I can't wait to get my necessary named speaking roles so I can join Spotlight!
