February 13, 2017

Several sets of apparrel had to be returned due to mis-sizing and they got the replacement sizes wrong too. To their credit they issued full refunds

I think it can be a bit overpriced but the return policy is second to none. I've purchased book bags, robes, pants. All have been good quality.

Love flannel sheets! Long enough for flat sheet to be tucked in generously. Will definitely buy from them again.

Just buy from Old Navy. Same poor quality, much cheaper. LL Bean blew it, bankruptcy within 5 years. Sad

DONT ORDER HERE
October 19, 2017

I bought a backpack here October 9th and its expectwd shipping date was the 13th, by the thirteenth it still was not sayin shipped so I would call the number and the people on the phone would transfer you to a customer service rep but it sounds very sketchy. I had the person tell me on the phone it prob got lost in the warehouse and will be here within a week. A called a couple other times and got it should be shipped today or tomr its in the process of being picked if you want we can cancel this order and buy a new one from the store. The whole thing was sketchy and frustrating

Fast foward to the 18th and I see the order status says COMPLETED, what? So I call again and tell them it says completed but I dont have the bag what does that mean? So the first person sounds hesitant and nervous and puts me on hold for a couple minutes when she gets back she tells me shell send me to customer service representative, I ask is everything okay and she said theyll talk to you. The woman who I was transferred to tells me that my backpack is not in stock and the order was cancelled the day before. Was once again told that I could order a backpack from the store in a separate purchase but what Im not getting is why cant they do that.

I never received a cancel confirmation or any reason why. I will never ever order from them and I hope you dont either. Still afraid that they will be charging me by other reviews.

I have been purchasing from LLBean for over 30 years - first from visits to the USA then on line. The quality of their products has severely declined. A jacket was purchased for me with cash by my mom so no proof of purchase and barely worn it despite having it for about 2 years. Their new policy of returns is clearly needed not because customers were abusing returns but rather that the workmanship has so declined they can no longer offer it. The zipper appeared defective from the start but just didn't wear it until recently so hadn't realized how bad it was. Llbean USA refused to fix the zipper without proof of purchase. As it clearly shows LLBean name and is their product which looks almost brand new their refusal is shocking. Their customer service disconnected my call while at the oakville Canada store waiting to speak to a higher manager, and neglected to call us back when they knew who called. The incredibly helpful oakville manager tried to find other ways to get the zipper fixed and when that failed assessed the problem and discovered that the zipper was installed backwards which explained the defect! Ryan the manager patiently explained how to fix the zipper and apologized that he couldn't arrange to fix it for me. My mother and I will never shop on USA on line again and will in future make all purchases at the oakville store where I experienced great customer service with very empathetic and knowledgeable staff. I purchased some tshirts and turtle necks because they were made in Peru which is where their clothing used to be primarily made. My old tshirts lasted longer than ones purchased in the last two years!

If you are in your fifties and miss pants that cinch at the waist, button down shirts and waffle weave button up long sleeve t-shirts, or are looking to be trendy with you or your child's initials standing six inches high on a backpack, then L. L Bean is your store.

Their clothes are mostly good quality, but some items are misleading. Their hiking boots for women with their own logo are made in China and tend to fall apart after six months wear and their name brand boots and shoes cost nearly three times what you would pay from other comparable stores.
A pair of Chios for instance will run you $40 or more. The prices are so high, that when they offer 60% off, you are still paying more for the item than you feel it is worth.

That said, they do offer items that are hard to find elsewhere and they do cater to tall people, which is a plus if your pants always ride up to your calves every time you take a seat!

They also offer free shipping and returns, so if something does not fit right, you can return it at no cost.

They carry a few things that are hard to find elsewhere such as bicycle shorts built into a more modest outer shell that allows you to carry things in your pockets and not have your bare butt shine through skin tight material. They also have bathing suits for men that double as hiking shorts and skirted and one piece suits for women that allow for modestly while still giving you the freedom to move and play outdoors.

Most of the clothing is outdated and many of the camping gadgets they sell are highly overpriced and not the best quality.

If you have a lot of money and like dressing like you still belong in the 70s then L. L. Bean will appeal to you. They do have a few cute things and at the end of season, you can actually find bargains, but you have to act fast on them, because they do not last long.

Just be aware that their cheapest self-logo clothing may look good when you first get it, but has a tendency to not hold up as well over time. The hiking boots I got from them had seams inside the ankles that rubbed raw spots on my ankles even with thick socks. Another friend was hiking the second year in her boots and the tread came unglued and peeled back mid-hike and several polo and pull over tees I purchased are not stretched out of shape and faded even though they have not been worn that often.

They do offer rewards points where you can earn cash back for your purchases and get $10 coupons for every $100 you spend, but considering their nearly 80 percent markup on clothing and camping gear, it really isn't the bargain it pretends to be.

Again, they serve a niche and some of their clothes are nice and hold up well, like the blue jeans and chinos, but they are expensive compared to other companies that make the same quality materials for half the cost.

11 phone call to the LLBean call-center in Maine totaling 5 hours on the phone. Item ordered on August 6th. Still no item. Call-center employees belligerent, mocking, made-up the scenarios as to why the emails I received telling me my item, has been delivered, was the truth and I could be lying, to the point, one spokeswoman called my post office and, all the while had me on hold only to angrily, with great hatred, told me the package had not been delivered and then told me we were through talking. 4 call-center employees hung-up on me. 1 supervisor hung-up on me. The in-queue supervisor yawned and sarcastically told me he had all day to listen, but the software at the warehouse has been out of service for 5 weeks so maybe he could call a store and see if they would send me the item.
LLbean is a company that buys merchandise from 3rd world countries. Communist CHINA for one, a country that brutalizes dogs, kills them, and eats the dog. LLbean grew up it Maine, and is offending its readers of the catalog and web-site, by attempting to capitalize on its wholesome, American roots, while in reality, has supported country regimes, such as El Salvador, known for extreme violence and human rights violations, Communist China, where no standard of living exists and the animal brutality remains. LLbean is a fraud, you are a disgrace to the great original owners, and the ethical, honest customer relationships, some going back to the 60's. I will never buy anything from your company. Your lack of trained customer service is appalling, you purposely let these employees take on a customer with a legitimate complaint and set up the hang-up and waited for me to call back ending up with employees for 45 minutes at a time, as they sneered, repeated back everything I said. Easy to write this complaint against you, you are not going to be business much longer, mark my words... the catalogs always show a dog, lounging on a dog-bed. The dog bed is made in, dog-eating China, you are not even connected to the real world of citizens here who like me, helped build up good companies only to have the likes of you LLbean turn to greed and disgusting customer service and your lack of American products.
