My grandparents purchased a unit in FL that is a Lifespace Community. They had many issues with Lifespace and not getting the care that was promised to them when they needed it. When we requested full time care for my Grandmother, she was put on a waiting list for months! While still waiting for a full time care bed, she had a bad fall and broke her hip which quickly led to her passing in a local hospital. That was 4 years ago and Lifespace has not paid the estate any monies for the unit they took possession of 4 years ago! When we ask, all we get is the run around, and they say the unit is still up for sale, but they control the price and prioritize other units first based on their immediate profits. All this from a business that claims to be a non-profit. This alone is proof they are not! They should not be considered a non-profit. They are in it for the money. Don't be fooled. Once they get your money, you (or your heirs) may never see it again. So, ask for a guaranteed repayment timeline for any equities or you will be waiting for years and you will probably have to file lawsuits to get any settlements from them
