I am a small freelance recruiter who relies on job boards like Indeed. I am continuously running into indeed disabling my account. Does anyone have any advice for me?
My company has been doing business with Indeed since 2018. They were a smaller company and had great customer service. There was an incident where we were overcharged by about $900 and were issued a refund quickly and with an apology. Since then we were noticing changes within the company and used Indeed only as needed for immediate hiring (via resume search option). Just recently I logged in to access their free job posting option and it was flagged immediately. I then attempted to subscribe to the resume search option and was unable to submit payment. Eventually after trying to find out what was going on I came across a page that notified me that my account had been deactivated and had not receive notice or a reason for this. There was no way to appeal as others have here have mentioned. I have attempted to reach Indeed three separate times to resolve the issue and they have completely ignored me. As a small business owner I cannot afford to wait around until I receive a response. Every day that passes we are missing opportunities to find candidates and are very close to switching to Ziprecruiter or another hiring platform with reliable customer service. Your lack of professionalism and commitment to fixing this well documented problem is absolutely appalling! I am more than happy to speak to customer service though you don't even have a phone number to call. I sincerely hope to hear back from your staff as it seems we are close to done with Indeed for good.
Hi Tara, thanks for reaching out! Taking a further look into this, we can confirm that a refund for the amount you are speaking about was processed on the account back in 2018. We are sorry to hear about your attempts to contact Indeed. We understand your concerns about the account. Indeed does have an employer helpline which you can call using the phone number on this article from our public employer help center: https://indeed.force.com/employerSupport1/s/article/207325006?language=en_CA. Availability times and days are on the article as well! Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback.
Account on hold yet again. Jumped through so many hoops to get Account unlocked but no nothing works. Sent a copy of our business bank statement to be told its a public document. Total joke
To explain, it is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met.
Please note: Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any Company's account, for any or no reason. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest.

You can submit an appeal through your account. Please note that the review process typically takes 1 to 3 business days and our team will contact you when they have an update, or if they need additional information.
There are so many fake jobs on this site that is unbelievable. I'm starting to believe that indeed accepts any company, including the fake ones, to post a job as long as they pay. One recruiter started asking me about sensitive information, that I refused to disclose. To make matters worse, I never filled out an application for this company. She wanted me to verify items on my credit report as If I was applying for a loan or something. She then proceeded to ask me if I had money for equipment. I instantly knew this was a scam. This happens frequently on indeed and I am starting not to find this site credible. When I ask the recruiters for job id's, they stop all communication. As far as the few legitimate jobs, it seems like the moment you apply, you immediately get a rejection letter saying the listing expired or the company chose not to move forward and you were not selected. It's the same automated response. It doesn't even seem like they view your resume. So, if you are serious about obtaining employment, please look elsewhere. Look into career fairs or something where you can interact with real companies and recruiters. Don't waste your time with this site. I obtained employment the moment I decided to stop using this site.
Hi Joi. We take comments like this very seriously and would like to learn more. Indeed has an entire team dedicated to the review and moderation of job listings on our site. We have sent you a private message please feel free to follow up with us there, thank you.
RUN FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE AN EMPLOYER LOOKING TO HIRE. THEY HAVE WASTED A MOUNTAIN OF MY TIME! I have dealt with INDEED for several years. 1st couple of years were fine - but the company has changed so many moving parts from posting a job, sponsoring a job, not dealing with glitches in their system, gathering and replaces resumes by duplication, sending applicants over the weekend so sponsored time runs out before you can review them, charging you for them anyway, rejected applicants are allowed to submit resumes for different jobs to the same company(why!) If I rejected someone that means I would not hire them. They charge for applicants that don't complete the assessments(why?), that is part of the application process! I will never do business with this company again. Hiring someone to work in a small company is serious business. We are looking for longevity and growth. Working through INDEED is like playing Russian Roulette and then you get to pay for it too!
Hi! We have reached out via private message, please respond there when you are able. Thank you!
Don't contact Indeed directly. Your account will be disabled for no reason.
I liked Indeed, helped us get a couple of candidates, none of whom stayed for a while but I don't blame Indeed for that. We are currently in the need for more employees so started an ad up with Indeed again. I received a couple applicants applying to our positions, however after inspecting there resume a little deeper we found they lived about 2 hours away. This is frustrating because as anyone on Indeed knows you are paying for any person that clicks on your ad. I felt as if I was paying for candidates that were impossible to hire. Being an internet company I figured a setting just needed to be adjusted to get more relevant candidates. I received an email from Indeed the next day and since we are in such need of employees I have been doing multiple jobs and unable to contact them back.
A couple of days later I tried sending an email to a candidate through Indeed only to find out my account was disabled and my ad was taken down. We are in need of candidates RIGHT NOW, to take my ad down without my consent shows such carelessness on the part of Indeed. They could care less if I hire any employees, just make sure your credit card information is up to date. I will be using other sites for now on.
Hello Joseph, we're very sorry for the negative experience with Indeed. We had an issue on our end where your account was disabled due to a pending balance on our Finance team's end. It has been re-enabled at this time, and we have also applied a $50 free click credit towards your next $50 worth of sponsored job clicks on Indeed. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience here, and would be happy to help if you have any other questions. Thank you.
We had been paying customers with Indeed for almost a year and my feedback would have been for the most part great. I've been using everyone you can name as far as recruiting for the past 11 years and was greatly satisfied with Indeed. In fact, we were hiring at an astounding 75+% clip from Indeed, we currently have over 10 people in our company here from Indeed.
And then they suddenly disabled my account because we opened a new location in Orlando. I was then given the run-around about why my account was disabled only to realize that they have associated my company with another company that we have absolutely nothing/zero/zilch to do with! Imagine that, a small team of "quality" controllers making the call for something they have no idea about.
I went from someone who would 100% recommend Indeed to now a position of absolutely 100% stay away from them! They've gotten too big for their britches and treat everything with this so-called overarching policy with no regard for who we really are.
*Update:
Even their response to this review in private message is automated and completely useless. When they bought out SimplyHired, we all lost to this impersonal juggernaut.
Hi Vince, we apologize for the poor experience. We have responded to your review by private message. Please follow up there if you have any additional questions or concerns.
I have had an employer account for last 4 years, and finally tried to place an ad for hiring. Everything was entered in, set up the ad and entered credit card. Received email to tell me that my account was on hold pending verification and I needed to provide one form of documentation. I submitted Certificate of Insurance, which I was told could have been forged and not accepted. Send in another form of documentation. I sent in CRA gst statement, was told it didn't contain address. (It did). Followed up with Home Depot Account statement and WCB, all of which are current, contain the date, address and company name. Just received another email telling me I need more specialized help, and a link to the Help section questions. This has been 10 wasted days of trying to appease the Indeed gods, who obviously do not review the documents they request. My biggest concern now, is the sheer amount of information this "company" now has of mine. As a side note- Kijiji ended up bringing in over 50 resumes for far less.
Hi, it is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. Your account is going through our standard review process. In this case, we see that an appeal was submitted on the account and our moderation team has already emailed you back this past Friday, 9/15/23 requesting additional information about your company. You will need to follow up with them directly via that email chain in order to move forward with the review process. Please respond back to them only and check your email inbox for any emails from employersupport@indeed.com. Double-check your spam/junk folder as well since sometimes our emails can be sent there as well. Thank you!
I find it is very disturbing, that Indeed will disable an employer account, which I have had open for over 2 years. In fact, I have hired many people from using the Indeed Platform. I found the resumes that I receive from their site is excellent. The quality of employees are also fantastic. I chose Indeed as my number one source when I am hiring for my licensed security & investigation business. Today, I received an email stating my account has been suspended. I respond and they again state it does not meet the integrity of their site. I then send in my license from my regulatory body to their email showing that I am a licensed agency, to which I receive no response. It is very disturbing that Indeed.ca would not want businesses like myself who are licensed by a provincial regulatory body to advertise postings on their site. I was actually going to purchase ads from them as well. However, what if they get pulled. As well there are other Security Companies and Private Investigation Agencies that are on their site as well. So I am not to certain why they pulled my posting and disabled my account. UPDATE: Indeed rectified the situation Thank you, for rectifying it so quickly.

It still does not matter what you determined. It is still unprofessional and not a good way to do business. If there are processes of how to conduct business on the site then ensure it is understood by the customer, therefore the quality just went from a 100 to 0. Enabling my account did not matter one way or the other. I don't waste my time or company money on scam sites.
I recommend recruiters to try: monster.com, headhunters.com, These are quality service sites that offer assistance and will advise you in the process.

Hi Stephanie, we apologize you have had a poor experience. After fully reviewing your account and additional company information, we determined that we would not be able to proceed with re-enabling your account. While you were able to use the account prior to this decision, Indeed reserves the right to review accounts at any time and disable further use if it is in the best interest of our job seekers. The reasons behind this decision are kept confidential to protect our Quality processes and the integrity of the website. For additional information, please review our Job Posting Guidelines: http://www.indeed.com/hire/job-posting-guidelines Thank you.
I have used indeed for a few years and have located several new employees.
The only change I would ask is that all people add what type of work they are looking for.
For some reason, Indeed disabled my account and I don't know why. There was no notification whatsoever. Now, I am not able to post any jobs or access any of the old jobs.
Hello Amaya, thank you for reaching out and sharing this experience with us. We have responded to your review by private message.
I have used indeed for long period of time but now its service is getting worst day by day. One of the Worst Service by Indeed. Very Much Disappointed all my accounts are getting blocked how come a single recruiter can pay you a huge Amount of Money and the Last if You Cant provide free posting then please take that statement out because there are lot more best Job Portals compared to you but you was giving best Free Job Positing and you are degrading yourself in that only now.
After spending 7 hours completing a applications which I saved after each section, I submitted it, then get an email back from Indeed to "Due to technical issue we were not able to send your application, please re-submit" I click on link to re-submit and my application has been erased!
Hi Steve, we're sorry to hear this. We have responded to your review by private message. Please follow up there with any additional questions you may have.
I haven't found any other sites that are as simple and easy to use as a job-seeker. That said, read the other reviews from recruiters even here on SJ. Recruiters don't seem to like it nearly as much which could effect the future of the site.
My recommendation would be to use indeed as a job-seeker but do some really good research if you're a recruiter. No matter which category you fall in - don't rely solely on this site.
REASONS TO USE
[1] Great filtering for job-seekers to narrow down what they're looking for easily
[2] Incredible, streamlined interface - very clean
REASONS TO LOSE
[1] As a job-seeker you've found a better LOCAL resource for job postings
[2] As a job-poster you don't like the candidates you are getting
Hi Bob, thank you for the feedback. We're happy to hear that you have found Indeed to be great to use as a job seeker. We're sorry to hear that the candidates that you've received as a recruiter have not been suitable for the jobs that you've posted. We'd like to look into this further and offer some assistance. If this is something that you're interested in, please contact us on socialservice@indeed.com. Thank you.
We've been using Indeed for a good almost 2 years now, the website itself has been OK. We have also been running paid ads whenever we need extra reach on this platform.
Just a few days ago we ran a job posting and for absolutely no reason (i. E. no out of the ordinary job postings, everything as usual) our account has been disabled. We sent them an e-mail and customer service through a feedback form, but have not received any feedback.
This is the first hiring platform that we have encountered which disabled our account with no explanation and as a result all the information of our potential candidates are stuck on the platform, with no way to retrieve them. We view Indeed as one of our sites for hiring, but in light of the way they cavalierly rescinded access to our account with no explanation, this view will not be the same anymore, and we may need to consider further course of action if they do not respond, as our past 2 years' data is held on the platform with no access.
Edit: Account re-enabled recently, review changed to 3 stars from 1 star. The reason given by them was to verify the authenticity of our account - still a very poor way to do so without giving prior notice, especially to clients who have been using their platform for a long time.
Update: We can confirm that Jason communicated with a member of our team and his account has been re-enabled.
If I'm being honest, I'm a black male small business owner and I feel discriminated against. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I had heard great things about indeed from a friend, but unfortunately when my small business started using the account they disabled it for absolutely no reason. The job listing I posted was for Laundry Delivery Agents and the entire listing fit their listing guidelines.
I contacted them numerous times to appeal their decision and reinstate the account, but I can't seem to get a human being. As someone who values their time, this was horrible. If you're black or own a small business, let me save you all the headache and warn you to NEVER use this website. If you need to post a job listing on a site that literally asks you to "post jobs" (and that doesn't disable your account once you post the job) use FaceBook! It works wonders.
*P.S. I've read some of the other horrible reviews on this site! This is just ridiculous, I'll definitely be contacting BBB about this!
Hi Johnathan, we have privately messaged you regarding your concerns. Please feel free to follow up with us there. Thank you.
I live in a very rural area with only one Internet provider. It is wireless. It drops packets constantly. Indeed forces you to take silly assessments they market to their employers. These assessments are junk science and useless but the point of my complaint is that if your internet drops a packet (which happens to all of us constantly) your assessment will make you look like an idiot but they will not delete it or allow you to retake it. They also share it with other employers without your permission. This is slander and a massive violation of my privacy. The assessment is not valid and now they are telling the world how I did on it? When I complained to customer service they told me to call a lawyer. Therefore, they are slandering me and violating my privacy without my permission. Since they are a big tech monopoly like Facebook, the FTC needs to do something about this horrendous and clearly illegal privacy policy. Indeed is a joke and I recommend everyone stay clear. And if you are an employer don't waste your money on those horrible assessments.

After 2 years of using this site, they arbitrarily decided what we do is no longer acceptable. Sent an email basically asking me to guess at what that is. Called customer service and they told me they are not informed of the reason either and no one will tell you what the issue is. They also suggested I lie-very professional of you. It's better for me to lie to people I want to work with than you telling me what the issue is and working together to resolve to both parties satisfaction. Filled out their form to contest suspension. Apparently our crime is sending out a contact to resume posters without mentioning a specific job. I indicated I would not send any further contacts without mentioning a specific job. Apparently not good enough-. One strike and your out. I own an employment agency that deals with a specific field, and have different jobs every week all of which potential candidate may be qualified or may not be. Additional questions are necessary, as it is OK for resume poster to be illegal, lie about their experience and location. No one has ever complained about what we do. Filled out their form to contest the suspension and the reply I received is unbelievable. Not lifting suspension and -. "Further appeals for this suspension will not be considered or responded to." You wont even respond to a paying member of your website? Not many businesses have the luxury of deciding we wont talk to you anymore. We are on dozens of job boards and Indeed is the only one that treats its customers this way.
Hi Tom, we have responded to your review by private message. Please follow up there if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Mediocre site to find candidates and very high fee. Billing is open ended so you may forget you have an ad and you end up with a large bill. Use another service.
Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.
Answer: Hi Sarah, we're sorry you haven't heard back from employers when submitting your resume on Indeed. We'd be happy to assist you here in reviewing your resume and offering suggestions for applying to jobs on the site. Please email us at sitejabber@indeed.com with a link to your Indeed Resume or document so that we can review. Thank you.
Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Answer: Hi Kristina, feel free to email our team at sitejabber@indeed.com with some additional details regarding your concerns and we'd be happy to take a look. Please be sure to reference this interaction in your email. Thank you.
Answer: Hi Irene, to explain, all accounts on Indeed go through a moderation process as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for.
