I am upset with the negative remarks. My husband and I both enjoy Home Town. Their renovations are wonderful!

New shows
August 13, 2022

I find it very deceitful that they list a program as new but it's just last year's repeat. They don't think that the viewer realizes this.

Ugh!
August 2, 2021

I get tired of shows like Home Town and Fixer Upper and any show that takes place in little towns in the South where you know that they voted for Trump and are true blue Republicans.

I believe that every one of their shows are contrived, staged and pre-planned from the get-go. So as long as you understand that, you won't be so fooled into thinking that these couples are really so shocked by seeing their new and "improved" homes. It's all FAKE. As long as you're okay with that, then some of the shows are entertaining. For example Good Bones, where Mina is actually doing things. Albeit Karen is a hoarder and bizarre.

As to taking a historic home and gutting it, (Home Town and Windy City Rehab) rendering the original plan and finishes to the garbage heap and then suddenly finding an "antique" in a shop (worse yet, making something look old) and incorporating it into the decorating, and then deeming it preserved IS NOT PRESERVATION! There is nothing worst then these talentless "designers" running around pretending that they care about the historical fabric of a structure and then tear it all out!

And if you want to watch RERUNS, RERUNS, RERUNS! By-all-means, tune in to HGTV.

Chip and Joanna Gaines have a very special and very rare appeal - they are what make the show Fixer Upper so successful. The show Home Town blatantly PLAGIARIZES Fixer Upper. The format of Home Town is exactly the same as Fixer Upper, but it fails horribly. I suffered through one episode - I will NEVER watch another! The couple on Home Town are the lamest- they are pitiful Chip and Joanna "wannabes" She is supposed to be an artist, but the amatureish drawings of homes that she does are just NOT good. Even the commercials for the show Home Town are annoying in their imitation of Chip and Joanna... PLEASE HGTV, CANCEL THIS SHOW!

Nothing new. The couple is annoying. No Chip and Joanne. Not even close. Good concept, wrong couple.

Hard to believe the haters on this show. What smug vitriol. Home Town is not a Chip and Joanna rip-off. There are differences. The theme of wanting to help new neighbors come home to and fit into small town living is wonderful. I think Erin and her husband's chemistry is fine. I think their renovations of old homes and the interesting histories behind the houses are fascinating. Sometimes the staging is a tad busy for my taste, but the way they bring local elements, like repurposing items, family mementos, local folk art and historical documents into each house is fantastic.

It may be more farmhouse country than the negative reviewers here like. So turn the channel and find a cookie-cutter, up-to-the-minute, totally out there financially and aesthetic remodel more to your liking. You're not gonna find it with this show. What I have found with this show is a genuine warmth, reasonable frugality, creativity and desire to help others that is quite appealing.

I think a lot of these negative views come from people who despise southerners and feed into a negative stereotype. Given the paranoid, hysterical political climate that is pushed by the mainstream, this is not surprising. I love Home Town even though I'm a liberal Production Coordinator with a well-known film and media company located in San Francisco and Marin County, CA. I can only dream of living in a small town where $200,000 or less gets you a beautiful home and neighbors who are hospitable, not snobby-chic and in debt up to their eyeballs.

Carry-on, Erin and Ben Napier. I enjoy you as a couple as well as your show. I've done some research on you both and was quite impressed with your success prior to the HGTV shows. Ignore the snotty reviewers who probably haven't done as much in their lives as you two have done for others.

House Hunters International aired June 30,2020 at 10:30 PM and was not very family friendly. My greatgrand daughter watches HGTV. If they're changing their ratings, then I may need to stop watching!

Hometown is the real deal. My girlfriend and I have visited the town of Laurel Mississippi in person. The people are genuine, friendly and always eager to help. It was a town we felt very very welcome in. We found the truck that Ben drives around on the show parked next to the Mercantile in the downtown area. We went in and looked at the shop that the Napier's run and the staff there was extremely friendly. In fact they took pictures of us with the truck outside the store. We drove around the historic downtown area and actually found several of the homes that the Napier's have remodeled. They have done very tasteful work on these homes and they look beautiful. In fact, when we were looking at one of the houses that was remodeled and we were just sitting in our car looking at the house, the homeowner came out and saw us and waved at us. They truly are doing a service for the town and the new residents to come there to live. I do not agree with the really harsh reviews of this program. The people who make all these mean comments have obviously never been to the town. I feel sad for them. The show is truly unique. It's not a cookie-cutter show like some of the others that are on HGTV. Sure the Napier's are not Chip and Joanna Gaines. But if the TV viewing public would give them a chance and get to know them by how they interact with the people that they help remodel houses they may have a different opinion of them. As for Erin's artwork I think it's really nice and thoughtful for her to do these paintings and present them to the homeowners at the completion of the projects. That is truly something that you don't see on any other TV show. Ben and Erin are truly the real deal. So are the wonderful people of the town of Laurel Mississippi. We look forward to visiting there again and often.
