Good Bones negative
December 12, 2017

I do like the show but the stars dont break down the costs the work they do like other shows
They just say
We bought it fo a sum
Put in 100,000
And sold it for sum

They do go into detail of the work and items but never the individual costs of the work or items

I like the show very much and I think their talent is vety intriguing of a smal southern town. It's a new twist of a fixer upper show which is also very refreshing and I like the historical considerations they factor into their designs and remodels. I also like their use of smart repurposing in all their redos which makes it not cookie cutter at all. Good job HGTV and good job Ben and Erin! It''s also very refreshing that they're NOT actors.

Beautiful ideas, thoughtful touches, and lots of love for their community. I appreciate their inclusion of the entire community and love for their town.

HGTV IS WONDERFUL. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING IT FOR YEARS. DAVE AND JENNY MARRS DO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL REMODELS AND I LOVE DAVID BROMSTEAD'S "MY LOTTERY DREAM HOME". KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! YOU ARE GREAT!

Unwatchable. First of all they need subtitles because you cannot understand half of what they are saying with those exaggerated redneck southern accents. It's so bad it literally makes my ears bleed. Her preschool watercolor drawings are probably the stupidest part of the show. They don't even look like the house before or after the renovation. The husband is disgusting - obese, greasy, dirty beard, and always drenched in sweat even though he doesn't even do any of the work. Which is just as well because if he picked up a tool he'd probably have a heart attack. Her "designs" are incredibly bad - amateurish and basic in the worst possible way. Her personal sense of style is also abhorrent, like she goes to the thrift shop and searches for the ugliest things they have. And what is going on with her posture? Always stooped and hunched over like Quasimodo. Not a good look for anyone but especially when you're already no taller than a hobbit. And don't get me started on those enormous choppers. Why would you wear a super short hairstyle and use drugstore whore-red lipstick (applied so thick she must be using a trowel) to accentuate the fact that they can see your teeth from space? These two are so unappealing on every level. Please cancel this show HGTV, you can do so much better. You used to have aspirational programming, stop striving for the lowest common denominator.

I watch every show, as if I am peeling off a band aid slowly. It's absolutely painful. The house turns into cute, cluttered home. The house has so much decor stuff in it. It's as if the Home Town couple is telling the homeowner "Y'all cain't live here!"

Ben does good woodwork. Love his practicality using reclaimed wood. Erin does have home decorating skills. But please give some room to breath. A whole wall covered with framed, vintage photos of people you don't know? Creepy! Plus I cannot stress how much tchotchke, placed everywhere. It's only a few stuff away from being a Hoarders episode or TGIF restaurant.

The hosts has such a hard time with having anything to say on camera. They have to talk slower and raise their arm up when using an adjective. To fill in the one hour, they bring in their boring contractors, that have nothing much to say. Which then leads to several montages of small-town-folks hammering and sawing. Producers need to fix that. Maybe write lines and vignettes for them. Discuss really how much everything cost. How much does is cost to hire a welder to redo an old handrail? Do way more DIY home remodeling tricks. Remodel more bathrooms!

Fix Fixer Upper, etc.
December 31, 2016

Show of hands... all the people out there who are as SICK of Joanna and the toooo cutesy Chip, the Bros. And some of the other repititious programs on HGTV and wish they (HGTV) would come up with something new, let them know and maybe we can stop wielding our hammers to destroy the tv out of frustration and again start watching HGTV.

No. Just no.
May 16, 2017

Ugh. I had such high hopes for this show. Sorry to say, it's gonna be really tough to find anyone to compete with Chip''s silly wit and humor, and Joanna''s beauty, grace, and stellar talent as a designer. Erin's, "I painted you a picture" (of what the house could look like) -- oooof. I cringe every time I accidentally tune in to this show. My 6 year old could do better, I think. And painted it? REALLY? With what? Your watercolor set from the dollar tree?

Amend while I'm venting... what is WITH her wardrobe? Specifically, why does she wear her shirts tucked in just to the front middle of her pants, with the sides hanging out? What the heck is that look about? I get it. It's trendy. For tweens, maybe. But almost every single episode? What the heck? Seriously? It's so annoying. Maybe it's a dresser for the show or something, because I once saw the female homeowner with her blouse tucked half into her crisp white shorts, the other half hanging free in the breeze. It looks ridiculous on anyone over 30.

Erin's designs are disappointing, to say the least.

Don't watch this show. It's annoying and irritating. I wanted to love it, but no. Just no.

I'm tired of the constant parade of homosexuals on HGTV. You include a disproportionate number of them. Stop the WOKE politics and produce family friendly programming

I love this show
April 24, 2017

I don't understand all the negative reviews. I love the show. I like the Napiers. He is such a talented wood worker and also contractor. Her designs may not always be my favorite, but I don't really think they are too cluttered. I do like how they do realistic smaller homes that are true to many older home. Most older homes are not big sprawling 2000-3000 square foot homes. Most older homes that are restored are on the smaller. I like their style Southern Living with some Americana. I like how they restore things whenever they can. I like the lived in look and historic character they maintain. I like that they support small town living. I think they are a super sweet couple. As for having no chemistry, that's ridiculous. They are sweet, but more toned down. They are not Chip and Joanna and I don't think they are trying to be. They have their own style. I think it's mean that people are commenting on Erin's art work. I think it's really nice she gives each couple a painting of their house with their family name on it. I love this show.

Home Town Rip Off
February 16, 2020

I used to like the first few shows but after watching how they charge home buyers ( they target Young kids) outrageous prices to renovate their home when in fact they take old stuff off existing and paint over it I seen so many episodes where they do this and it bothers me The Husband does have nice craftsmanship on what he makes but I just seen a show where they renovated a girls house left to her from her father she has 120K all they do is tear the walls down and make a door from it, they do some landscaping and put up some sheet Rock and paint it just seems the price they charge don't match the outcome of product. And the fakeness of the designer ( Erin I think) she acts like she is an angel but probably goes home and boozes it up LOL

I think the show is great! Erin and Ben are adorable. They use repurposed materials which I think is great. I have no idea why this show is getting such bad reviews.
