We were referred to Hatchwise by a friend who had also used it to create a logo. The process was so easy and it was exciting to explore all of the options we were given. This is an amazing resource.
This was a great experience with some creative entries. Because of that experience I have suggested this site to others, especially on a budget to just want a variety of ideas.
The customer service is outstanding and the quality of the designs is amazing. I had over 200 designs for $150 and got a great logo in the end. I would highly recommend this for any business looking for a design.

As a designer this site is horrible. The contest holders are permitted to be totally nasty to you and you are not allowed to respond in kind. The feedback process should be constructive and plentiful. After all, its only a one week project. The contest holders rarely check in and when they do the feedback isn't just critical, it can be vicious! They seem to forget they are getting thousands of dollars worth of TIME and creativity for the price of one final logo.
The other failure of this site is the sheer quantity of "no winner selected" projects. That's time wasted for everyone involved. Had the contest holder involved themself with the design process that wouldn't happen. Constructive feedback should be mandantory!

Hatchwise is one of the pioneers of the crowdsourced design scene, and we've grown a lot and have pretty much completely revamped our platform and systems since 2011. From the onset I have had trouble with the platform and customer service could or would not help resolve the issues:
- My prize amount was reset: I was informed this didn't happen even though I emailed screen shot
- I could not post comments on my own contest page: never resolved
- The design brief section with toggles between antonyms reset at least a dozen times: I was told this is my own fault
- I extended my contest for two days but only received about 30 hours: this was the one issue resolved
- each time I made a payment the site said my payment had not gone through even though I could see it had processed, this is definitely a bug in their system
- The winning design was not delivered in the vector format promised.
As I informed their customer service I will not use this platform again.
Few months ago, I created a logo design which won a contest on hatch wise, the site told me to send the finished project file to them(which I did)... after that I waited eagerly for the payout day to arrive. This was my first design on the site and a successful payout would have given me proper motivation to carry on submitting designs on hatchwise, but what do you know several weeks past payout day I still got nothing on my paypal account!... I msg hatchwise on all their support mails... NO FEEDBACK!... I WAS SCREWED!... THANKS HATCHWISE... THANKS!

The concept of HatchWise seemed awesome. We were initially excited and were hoping and expecting new ideas and insight for our new product. Upon submissions for a company name, we communicated regularly and most of the entries reflected minimum to no thought had been put into the names for us to us to consider. We couldn't believe 95 percent of the entries and feel certain that most of the participants are likely still in elementary school. We awarded a winner anyway and were expecting communication from her other than ''I'm not sure why you aren't receiving the files I've sent"... maybe HatchWise should have followed up with us?

Hatchwise is a great platform. It's my second time to bid a logo in this website. I looked into each of the design intensively. Especially some of the designs are really making us deficult to choose from another. Which i mean the logo were both very nice and pleasent to us. unfortunately we just need one. And I really want to thank all of the designes who presented their work to us. Big thank again!

I was on a time crunch and seeing how they are suppose to be a "Money Back Guaranteed" i'll pay extra for attracting the so called "best designers" and to speed the process, to attract better so called "artist" i did NOT go the cheap route and set the award for $150. Entries were NOT of quality and Hatchwise required me to rate and comment on the entries submitted, which I did. Time was up and my supervisor pulled the plug. I reached out to Hatchwise and asked for a refund, I understood that listing fees would not be refunded I woulda been happy with the $150 but they refused to refund me. Down goes my Hard earned $239! I could have went to multiple "Freelance" website and would had gotten the same result for LESS THAN HALF of what I wasted on Hatchwise.com.
NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING IN RETURN OF MY $239! These guys are CHEATS!

As you state we DO have a money back guarantee for select logo design packages. Our money back guarantee for these packages is that you will receive the amount of designs advertised for the package your purchased (40 designs in your case) or we will fully refund your prize money, no questions asked. We currently only advertise the money back guarantee directly next to the logo design packages that include it and have very clear details there on what the guarantee covers.

However we are (as has been communicated to you many times) 100% committed to you having a great experience at Hatchwise and have offered you multiple options including extending your contest at no charge so you can see more entries, reviewing your design brief for you to see if it can be tweaked to go more in the direction you are looking for, and contacting specific designers who may have more of the design style your are looking for. Although we do have to abide by our refund policy we truly want you to end up with an amazing logo.
The reason for us holding firmly to our refund policy and requiring you to award a winner is because Hatchwise is not your average B2B business but is instead a huge community of many thousands of designers, 34 of which worked on your particular project.
In our design contests only one designer ultimately wins although many participate, and these designers work very hard under the assumption that you are going to award a winner and not back out of your contest unless our very clear refund/cancellation terms are met.
It would not be fair to our community to allow contest holders to back out of prepaid contests for arbitrary reasons when so many designers are working under the assumption that the contest holder is serious about awarding a winner.
We also have the option (which you did not take) of starting a contest for just the $39 listing fee and paying the prize money only after you have found a design you love, although this option usually ends in fewer entries because (again) the designers like to operate under the assumption that a winner is being awarded (which they did in your contest).

Horrible! I have used many logo and naming competition sites and this is the worst I've ever experienced. The site is dysfunctional, the help pages are dead links, the owners are rude, rarely respond, and arrogant. There have been numerous complaints of winnings being held 4 to 6 months for no reason which I believe is fraudulent and illegal. Contests usually must pay winners within 30 days regardless what they write in their terms and conditions. They state in their hard-to-find "terms and conditions" in very small print that they pay monthly on the 1st and 14th, but then immediately following that say they can hold your funds for up to 6 months if they want to for no reason. I was not given a reason. They then add on top of the fee they get from the buyer a fee taken out of your winnings of another 20%-25% allegedly due to "Paypal's rising fees" (which are only a fraction of this). Huge scam! If you experience the same thing, I encourage you to do as I did and help get them investigated by reporting them to the New York Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau in the Georgetown, NY area where they are located, and federal internet crime and fraud bureaus. We are proud to have a track record of paying out every penny earned to designers in contests that they have legitimately won, it is our entire business model and if we didn't pay our designers we obviously would not be around long. I am assuming that you have been paid long ago, as your review is from 2012, but I wanted to leave a response here for anyone else reading it.
We've been in business since 2008, have paid out millions of dollars to designers since then, and consistently make payouts of many thousands of dollars multiple times a month. Occasionally it can take a little while to verify a contest win: making sure there are no issues with plagiarism or copying, that no credit card fraud is happening, collecting the designers info, getting accurate payment info, and making sure that contest holders did not enter the contest and pick themselves as the winner to get around having to select a winner - which is against of our terms of service and unfair to the legit designers who participated in the contest.
All of these issues can cause occasional delays (up to six months in a very few cases in our history - mostly in cases where the initial payment had been flagged as possibly being fraudulent) in payouts (although 99% of all winning designers are paid out on the first payout date following their win), but as long as the required information checks out and the win is legitimate we ALWAYS pay out our winning designers.

Before signing up for a contest through Hatchwise, the site promised all sorts of things, like hundreds of submissions and many great designers submitted. I even purchased an add-on extra where the contest would be feautured in an email to tens of thousands of users. Imagine my surprise when, a couple days into the contest, there was a grand total of 1 submission. 1 totally subpar and unusable submission that I had to reject. It was then I knew that running this contest through Hatchwise was a mistake. At that point, no big deal, maybe my contest was not a good fit for Edgewise's base. All I asked for was the contest to be canceled and a refund. Not only did I not receive that, I received nothing, and I sent 3 e-mails altogether. The contest ended, with a grand total of 7 submissions (far short of the hundreds promised). Even if I had received an email saying, "Sorry, but no refunds," I would have lived with it, but total silence is not how to run a business. I only hope people read this and it ends up costing Hatchwise much more than if they had refunded me in the first place.

As was explained to you by our support team your multiple accounts were banned because you repeatedly submitted clipart as original artwork. The contest holders that use Hatchwise expect that every option presented to them is 100% original, and we have a zero tolerance policy for anyone submitting un-original work. Your original account was banned as a result of your fraudulent entries, as were the 3 other accounts you then opened to get around the ban.
