SGT GRIT (Grunt.com) was an outstanding supporter of Marine ethos. They could be counted on to respond favorable to requests for items not in inventory. They understood and conducted the business with a Marine's perspective of "service".
Since NLC Products, Inc. has taken ownership of SGT GRIT (Grunt.com) the inventory of products is greatly reduced and response to requests is dismissive. The old values of making a profit with service has become profit, profit, profit.
There are many sources for military focused products. My new focus is to find the best price rather than always buying from SGT GRIT (Grunt.com).
Purchased a MCRD hoodie and after it was delivered noticed that the silkscreening had large
Areas of drop out in it. Called Sgt Grit and after waiting in "hold hell" for 20 minutes was told that that is the way it supposed to look (which isn't how the picture on the website looked) and since it was personalized it couldn't be returned or exchanged. I was offered the extra hassle of sending Grit a picture and this person would show it to a supervisor but since it was personalized it was unlikely there would be anything they could do. The only personalization that was done was the year and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one to go through MCRD in 1974 so this makes little sense given the fact this wasn't my first purchase from this retailer- however, it will be my last and I will be sure to let my 500 plus network of Marines know that Sgt Grit should get office hours for piss poor customer service and willingness to sacrifice a return for a customer's loyalty and satisfaction. There are plenty of other outlets that offer comparable goods -spend your money with them because the service is just as important as the goods - but the Sarge apparently didn't get the ROE - and I wouldn't waste my time doing bisiness with a company that sacrifices customer satisfaction on something meaningless to them but important to the Marines they sell to.
