Recently booked this break to La Cala over 4 months ago to find that the golf clubs we hired through golfholidays direct had not been booked.
We dealt with
A supposed sales director who would not return any of our calls. Eventually they reimbursed our money which allowed us to book elsewhere.
The communication with this company is impossible. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE GRIEF AND JUST BOOK ELSEWHERE!
If you book a single trip with Golf Holidays Direct or GHD. You may get lucky but if you book a multi course expensive trip, it will be a disaster and constantly calling every day to confirm payment of Hotels and Golf Venues.
Advise make sure you take your Credit Cards
We Booked 2 holidays
First one was a weekend Golf Holiday to Spain disaster did not pay venue Costa Daurada Golf Country Club.
Having booked the Second Trip Blindly without experiencing GHD or Golf Holidays Direct, was a Big Mistake.
I gave feedback of first experience via emails and telephone conversation with Sales, hoping they would improve.
The second trip was for 11 days including flights and costs from my fellow travellers flying from Singapore and UK cost £13k in Total to Portugal and Spain.
We played 8 Rounds via GHD and one invidual Golf Round we organised ourselves which was Cheaper.
We had different Tee Times on our Golf Itinerary to that at Golf Courses.
No response back from GHD to rectify, you are left to your own devices.
My advise Book Your self or via another Golf Package Holiday company, GHD no accountability it's Tough Luck.
We escalated to MD who was Zero Help and quotes T&C
If the T& C and your itinerary is correct, then you will still face a challenge.
At least call back say sorry or accept some accountability.
Not GHD
1. No communication
2. Didn't pass payments on to golf courses but took groups money
3. Offered no help or assistance to resolve
4. Booked members of our group separate tee times due to last minute payments
5. We added people to our group booking and they took payment but they didn't do any room or golf bookings, which we managed to resolve just before travelling
We arrived and although the booking was for 14 golfers, which they took the money for the booked tee times for 10, then 2 more 2 hours later, then the last 2 another 2 hours after, the course said this was due to them paying only for the first 10. This company replied stating it was because we added 4, we did, but this was several months before and they had taken payments.
We then had no buggies for 2 out of the 3 rounds. Both course confirmed they were booked but after repeated requests golf direct hadnt paid the money we had given them. This was also the case for other groups that were at the course and hotel. The staff at the course said this was a regular occurance with this company.
They have offered the group vouchers to use with them again, none of our 14 member group or groups we spoke with wanted them and we couldn't find anyone who wished to use golf holidays direct again
Golf holiday in Portugal more like crazy golf at Skegness
2nd time writing a review for this company for a group of 9 who booked a golf holiday for our mates 50th to Portugal the first review we was asked by the director of golfholidaysdirect to remove the review because it was damaging to his business and they was going to look into offering some compensation.
So we did give them the benefit of the doubt to try & put things right for the group after the lack of communication and service we received off them but unfortunately they are taking no responsibility for the service they offered and consequently we are all receiving £35.00 each person from the course owners themselves for the condition of the course what we new nothing about from golfholidaysdirect to give you some idea the greens were like playing on a mine field on 2 of the 4 days play which after putting our faith in golfholidaysdirect we had issue after issue even not having enough buggy's for us all on all 4 days and having to pay for them ourselves on the day & all in all they did a shambles of a job & wanted to pass the buck & say they did what they could and did it at cost price never made a penny from the booking blah blah blah we should have kept our original booking with golfholidays.com you live & learn if you want crazy golf book with them our crazy golf handicap has certainly improved after that week!
We booked an all inclusive trip including airport transfers with this company. On the morning of travel (street one of our group had taken off) I was whatsapped being told that the transfers may or may not be there, if not just grab a taxi and they will transfer the money.
Well long story short 3 of the 4 transfers didn't turn up across our trip and we spent an extra 240 euros on taxis. Almost a month on we still haven't had that money back and now they are simply ignoring all contact (and I have tried, email, WhatsApp, website forms and Instagram).
I think what has annoyed me the most isn't the appalling service it's actually been the P*ss taking messages like "of yeah mate, I will walk over to accounts and get it sorted now". Most be a really long walk because he sent that two weeks ago.
Just don't bother using these guys, plenty of other reputable firms out there

They have taken advantage of a really difficult situation with COVID and they walked away away with £1000's of our money.
They increased the price massively just weeks before we were due to fly and then stopped all communication. No response to calls or emails…luckily, my bank's legal team will deal with them direct having refunded me and agreed with my claim against them,
‘We note you missed a substantial balance' was their response to this review.
I also note that you nearly doubled the original price before we travelled and never answered our calls/emails to understand why - make your own mind up!
The golf courses in Spain are immaculate. I guess the last of people playing over the last 16 months. Credit to golf holidays for changing our booking three times
Use this holiday company at your peril. They take your money and then find spurious reasons to cancel or say you have not paid in full when they have failed to acknowledge receipt of funds or confirm final balance. A bunch of fraudsters. DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THEM. The packages seem cheap but not if you get nothing in return.
This has been a long drawn our process of trying to recover monies from flights booked pre Covid for a trip to Portugal. Recently I took over the responsibility of chasing the outstanding monies as the lead booking has fallen ill. I contacted a senior director on a couple of occasions for which he responded to the 2nd mail as he had just returned from the Masters. He forwarded the email address for accounts and explained they would handle this and he would let them know I would be in contact. Contact was duly made and confirmation of receipt of the email was requested. No communication has followed despite sending further emails and also a final one to the same senior director. Over 2 years has elapsed and no word of reimbursement has taken place. The latest feedback was that we chose not to go away when there were no restrictions in place to Portugal. The holiday was due to take place in June 2020. Travel to Portugal had ceased from 17th March until 24th August for non essential travel. We will now be using a solicitor and their debt recovery team and to inform prospective clients of our bad experience. It appears that we are not the only ones to have issues with this company. When you mention individual names the senior director choses to make threats of suing people for defamation of character which when you report factual information isn't defamation.
Myself & 30 friends were left stranded in Cyprus due to Golf Holidays Direct not paying the Resort for our accommodation or golf.
We were left with no other option than to pay the Hotel and golf directly.
This Company turned off their phones and ignored our Emails and now we are back in the UK each one of us over €900s down they have failed settle up our loses.
Totally unacceptable and to anyone thinking about using this company.

On a side note.
I'm currently going through the Courts against Golf Holiday Directs Ltd. I took GHD to court myself last year for money they refused to refund when the holiday was cancelled because of Covid, I won that case and I am now supporting anyone else that wants to take them to court. I have been involved in three claims that GHD ended up settling 100% out of court and I am currently supporting two parties in court cases, one for around £2,800.00 and one for around £25,000.00
So far GHD's Solicitors have threatened me with counter claims, joining me in the proceedings for cost purposes and reporting me to the Solicitors Regulation Authority, although I'm not a solicitor!
They have tried everything to stop the claims getting to court including saying that the claimant is in Scotland and therefore is outside of the England court jurisdiction. These things are all taking time but both claimants I'm supporting will eventually be heard and they will win.
I struggle to believe any of the 5 star reviews because of all the horror stories I know about and because Golf Holidays Direct featured on 'Rip Off Britain' recently.

Just returned from Luton hoo the hotel is simply stunning and the golf course is of a high quality also. Would not hesitate in returning.
I found the price from golf holidays direct to be cheaper than any other agents. Would happily use again.
Had a great to Spain with our group and everything run like clock work using golf holidays direct, is perfect.
