General Steel

Make sure and read the contract and not listen to what the salesperson has to say otherwise you will be misled. If you live outside Florida, you will be charged more so I recommend you go to an in-state builder. They will screw you over so be careful. They have not built anything, so I am not sure how the quality of the build is going to be. If sales and customer service are in an indicator the garage will be trash. You just have to trust me on this one.

I sent my information for a quote on a steel garage. I was called the next day and told that I could get a special deal on one that is a little larger than I wanted. I told them to go ahead and give me a quote on it. I got the quote the next day. It seemed a little high to me though I had not received any others to compare it to. I got the spec requirements from the city. The general steel building was not in spec so I notified them by e-mail. They called me the next day and they said they could make it up to spec for the same price. I told them I was still waiting on another quote. They proceeded to trash the other company and they didn't even know who it was. In my opinion if they have to trash the other company than they don't feel confident about their own building. I don't care to do business with a company like that.

Every time I spoke with Chase, it was "alright lets get this $10k down payment right now" before anything was decided or finalized. I am not interested in working with a rude, condescending sales person who needs a down payment before I can even get a legit price for my building. Talked me out of the custom designs that they have and offer on their website, offered no customization outside of the base building size and tried to get a down payment every time we spoke. I have interest in building a barndominium. I am not going to pay you $10k and lock myself into contract with you before I am able to work with someone to customize my needs. When I finally told him I was looking elsewhere, the tone set in like I just slapped him and he became incredibly defensive and disrespectful. Great warrantees, horrible sales people. It's unfortunate.

When we were at the office to order our building, Tyler, Bruce and Jeff were all in the room speaking with my husband. Slapping him on the back, telling him how seamless of a process this is. I felt as if they were "used car salesmen". They gave us the name of a contractor that they felt would fit our needs. We got our building, and after reading all the complaints against this company and looking at our contract...boy, they sell. They cover their butts in the contract. You are on your own once the building is delivered. They have zero follow up and if you have a problem with the contractor they gave you the name of, it is your problem. They do not care, they got their money. We were taken for a ride by the contractor and have a 40X60 steel building laying in our yard. Thanks a lot Jeff and Bruce for nothing. You said you would be there throughout the whole build. Haha

I worked with Brian with my initial request about a steel building and he answered all of my many questions with utmost patience whether is was a phone conversation or email inquiry.

I moved forward on my purchase due mostly to the great customer service thus far within the company. I recommend Brian for all of your steel building needs.

General steel has been absolutely wonderful, from the first phonecall sean has been extremely professional and accommodating, prior to contacting general steel I "attempted" to get quotes from other companies and to this day I still haven't heard a peep from them and it's been 3 weeks, that is not the case with general steel after a 5 minute conversation Sean was able to provide me an accurate quote in less than an hour, he is extremely knowledgeable about their products and understands how I intend on using the building, all of that knowledge and understanding has made me feel at ease in starting this project. Big thanks to general steel and Sean for being true professionals in the metal building industry.

I worked with Josh Schaefer initially when I called. I was just getting quotes in order for me to build storage units. Josh was excellent to work with. I called multiple times with several questions as I was going through the process figuring out everything with my business venture. I ordered 11,000 sq. Ft. Worth of building. Josh gave me a great price to sq. Ft. For me to figure my numbers on to determine how much of a building I could buy with the funds I had available. His estimates were accurate for when it came time to purchase. After the down payment I've been worked with closely along the way by the rest of the team who has been quick to follow-up and be there as I've had questions. Jonah Goldman was the next person I was passed to for the construction phase of the project and he's been excellent! Everyone I've worked with has been so great. I've already recommended them to several family and friends of mine. I would highly recommend them to anyone else. They fabricate high quality steel buildings throughout the whole United States.

Good luck getting the price within a few days, then there is the sale, then the local vs corporate price, B/S on this outfit. They write most of the positive reviews?

General steel is nothing but a bunch of thieves once they get they're deposit they don't respond to calls or emails.Sam Clement is a piece of $#*! stay away from General Steel.

Talk about unprofessional. This guy calls, doesn't introduce himself except General Buildings, starts rattling on about stock sizes and such when I finally stopped him and asked for a price on the particular building I requested. He goes on and on about their Fall Sales and Stock buildings without any details I asked for. Why did I waste my time filling out details on line of what I was looking for? He hadn't even taken the time to figure a price and when he threw out some insanely high number and I told him I had other offers for less. He asked who, I told him and he immediately starts trashing those other companies, saying someone will always be cheaper and that one company sold only tubular frame buildings (like carports) and I admit, I got upset. Especially when the only thing he could promote for his company was to tear someone elses's product apart. I used (1) one expletitive when I explained I knew the difference between a carport and a steel building.
If one looked up "Used Car Salesman" in the dictionary, his picture would be there. Just came off very pushy, evaded the direct issue and when confronted with someone elses product, his first response was not to compare his products talking points but to trash and criticize the competitors products. Sorry I hurt his feelings!
