Super high pressure sales. Don't fall for there "sale is ending and you better put your deposit down before the pricing goes up". Horrible customer service!
Talk about unprofessional. This guy calls, doesn't introduce himself except General Buildings, starts rattling on about stock sizes and such when I finally stopped him and asked for a price on the particular building I requested. He goes on and on about their Fall Sales and Stock buildings without any details I asked for. Why did I waste my time filling out details on line of what I was looking for? He hadn't even taken the time to figure a price and when he threw out some insanely high number and I told him I had other offers for less. He asked who, I told him and he immediately starts trashing those other companies, saying someone will always be cheaper and that one company sold only tubular frame buildings (like carports) and I admit, I got upset. Especially when the only thing he could promote for his company was to tear someone elses's product apart. I used (1) one expletitive when I explained I knew the difference between a carport and a steel building.
If one looked up "Used Car Salesman" in the dictionary, his picture would be there. Just came off very pushy, evaded the direct issue and when confronted with someone elses product, his first response was not to compare his products talking points but to trash and criticize the competitors products. Sorry I hurt his feelings!
My consultant was awesome. She helped tremendously with my needs and provide much needed information. I will consider general steel for my project as first option.
Talked with Andy Fiero in October of 2016 about the type of building and a budget that we had for the build. Filled out the paper work with what we wanted and again put down a budget we had. We were contacted back and told if we paid the fee they could design the buidling, provided a check on 11/02/2016. Contacted by Ryan Burgess shorty after this date about the building design and talked about what we needed in the building. First design were not even close to what was talked about or put on the Rendering/Floor Plan/ Estimate that we had filled out at the begining of this process. Finally got a design worked out sometime in March of 2017, then we were the contacted by Lew Marsh about getting a price together for the building. In April of 2017 got a budget price from Lew that was 230% over the original budget price that we provided in the begining. We were never told that the building could not be built for the original budget price or even somewhere near the price. When I had a call with Ryan and Lew about the building and budget I was told that is what they provide and that there was nothing else they could do.
For our money they sent us pictures of the building and an incomplete floor plan.
Mr. Coenen, I am sorry to hear that you had a less than favorable experience while working with the General Steel team. As I previously explained to you over the phone, the process of designing some projects can be extremely complicated; nevertheless General Steel uses its best efforts to try and make every Customer’s project a success. The Design Package you purchased has proven over the years to be an extremely valuable tool as well as an affordable option for many of General Steel’s Clients. Every Design Package General Steel provides is customized and tailored to meet the specific wants and needs of each individual Client. Unfortunately as complex and detailed as your design was, General Steel had a difficult time including all of the features you requested while also attempting to fit within the budget you wanted. Regrettably, General Steel was not able bring the project costs down without eliminating several of the features that made your project so unique. While General Steel does its best, total project costs can rarely be predicted on any specific project, it’s quite impossible to know what any Customer may or may not envision while designing their dream building. You have also mentioned in your review, that you have only received pictures and an incomplete floor plan. I apologize for this as well; our records indicate the completed package had already been sent. I have downloaded your entire file and will gladly forward all seven of the 3-D colored renderings, the 3 sets of floor plans and the detailed cost estimate to you.
EVERY THING WHEN WELL FROM START TO FINSH. ONE ITEM STANDS OUT--YOU MUST TELL GENERAL OVER AND OVER THAT YOU ARE PUTING THE STRUCTURAL ON GRAVEL OR C0NCRETE.HAVE THEM DESIGN THE CONCRETE FOOTING,OTHER WISE A GOOD BUILDING.
From the beginning of the process General Steel has delivered as promised. The project and sales staff offer professional, knowledgeable and low pressure customer service and walk you through every step of the process. I couldnt be happier with my choice to go with the folks at General Steel.

Billy Burnham has helped us through the planning stages for our building. Billy shared ideas, options, requirements and timeliness as we worked through several revisions to our original plan. We are looking forward to the final fabrication, delivery and erection of the building process being just as successful as Billy has made the planning stage.
I was in the market for a shop type building and heard about General Steel on the radio. I called and spoke with Karl and later communicated with Billy. I am new to the process and not sure what I needed to do. They have helped guide me through the process. They have made it easy to start the process and I am looking forward to getting the project completed.
Joanie is very knowledgeable & efficient. I explained what I wanted, she walked me through the details & followed up the next with all the answers to my questions. At this point I am very satisfied with my experience with General Steel.

Chase was great to work at my (slow) pace. We started out in the fact gathering phase, and took our time to get to the purchase phase. Chase did a good job of keeping to our pace. No presure. We are working through the design phases and look forward to getting the building up and going. Pleasant experience to this point.
I appreciate both Phillip and Sam and their input. They have worked well with me to develop a building. I was very hesitant to even pursue a steel building, and I didnt make it easy for them at first. However after my phone conversations with Phillip and later with Sam and how well they worked with me, I am confident General Steel is a company who wants to provide a good finished product.
I would like to Thank Denny and Billy and the staff of General Steal for all the help they have provided to me in this process.

We called for a building quote and we were helped by Steve Burd, who was very informative of the whole process and said he thought our building was on sale and found one still on sale for us. He was very prompt at returning phone calls and answering our questions.
