This site gave me the help that I needed to become a better writer. The opinions of authors through their reviews are a great help. I enjoy the writing contests. There are so many contests with different challenges! The members become aides to help me improve my writing skills. Highly recommended.
Many published writers have used Fanstory. So I joined to see if the reviewers could help me. I'm glad I joined. I have met so many truly talented and wonderful people. There are so many writers that are willing to take the time to offer support when I post something. Since I joined I've become a fan of over 25 writers. I look forward to the notifications I receive when they post. It's great to post my writing and read the comments they all leave. They are encouraging, supportive and uplifting. This is a wonderful avenue for people to share their writing, to learn, and to grow.
Before joining FanStory I looked at this site; it was an eye opener. I have to admit that I was tempted to join, but after reading all the negative reviews first I have come to the conclusion that it is just a money making mill for FanStory. I agree with the person who said that a writer should't have to pay for his or her writing. Thinking you are a writer and being a writer are two different matters; one you pay the other pays you.
I don't consider myself a writer. However, I saw the long list of poetry contests and thought it would be fun to enter the contests. I'm glad I tried it out. The contests are fun to enter. I get feedback from other members when I enter. And it's easy to participate. A fun site everyone should try.
I highly recommend serious authors participate in this writing community. Fanstory, in my experience, is by far the best writing community available. The reason is that it gives authors the ability to share their writing with other writers. Writing is a solitary activity. But it is important for writers to get input about their writing. The writers at Fanstory give authors feedback that they can use to improve their writing. This feedback is very important to writers because it helps them improve. What I like about Fanstory is that the feedback is generally detailed and geared towards helping the writer improve. The other benefits is that Fanstory gives authors the ability to make contacts and find publishers once they have finished the book they are working on.
I'd like to express my thanks to Fanstory for all that I've learned in the 3 years. I highly recommend Fanstory to anyone that is looking to improve their writing skills. Since joining I have found that I am much more serious about writing. I attribute that to the reviewers on Fanstory that are helping me improve. Since joining I have been improving. There are many excellent writers and reviewers that are available to help writers improve.
I recommend FanStory. FanStory provides such a needed service for writers. The feedback is so helpful. I was recently published and I feel certain I would not have come so far without the support of of the reviewers. It's so good to be able to get helpful feedback for everything I write. The community is wonderful.
My writing has improved greatly since I joined. Everything I post (I share poetry and book chapters) gets feedback. When I post my writing I get feedback very quickly. Usually the feedback is detailed and helpful. There are many, many writing contests that I can enter that have cash prizes. Highly recommended.
I just want to share how glad I am that I found Fanstory. It has helped me greatly. I've always wanted to write, but have always struggled finishing what I started. The feedback that I have received has helped my writing improve. I have fans since I have started that provide me the motivation to continue my book and finish my book chapters Yes, I actually finished them and received good feedback. This has boosted my confidence. My writing has improved too. Fanstory is a fantastic website that helps writers because of a community atmosphere of writers helping writers.
You'll enjoy it. The writers and reviewers are wonderful. The contests are fun and challenging. You get feedback for everything you write including your contest entries. It's a wonderful site with wonderful people. Enjoy!
Fanstory is a site for writers. If you are a poet or a writer of stories or books you will enjoy Fanstory. You get feedback for everything you write. So if you write a poem reviewers will offer you suggestions on how you can improve it. I find the help to be invaluable. I have learned so much since I became a member. Many of the reviewers are published authors and I know there are many writers that started off on Fanstory and are now published writers. I also enjoy the contests and the challenges that they present. I highly recommend Fanstory.
If you write poetry, stories or are working on a book Fanstory is a terrific resource. You get feedback for everything you write. I'm working on a book and after I complete a chapter I can't wait to post it on fan story. My last chapter got 55 reviews! Many of the reviews offer suggestions I on how I can improve it. I'm also developing a fan base which I plan to tap into when I publish my book. Highly recommended!
Great for writing contests and for getting feedback for you writing. The feedback has gone a long way to help me become a better writer. It has also motivated me and I'm writing more. It's fun to enter the writing contests and they offer challenges that I normally would not try.
FanStory.com is a writing site. On FanStory.com you submit your writing for feedback. So if you write a poem and share it on FanStory.com you will get feedback from other writers. There are also writing contests with cash prizes.
When I retired, I began exploring the idea of writing poetry. It's something I never had time for with my career and family taking up much of my time. I sought writing sites and discovered FanStory. Since then, I have never stopped writing!
I have met friends, reviewers, editors and have received wonderful advice on FanStory. I have learned to trust my writing enough to my thoughts through my words.
I love poetry since finding FanStory. I love to write it. I love to read it. I also share my stories on the website. I also enjoy the writing contests.
I am also now published... something that was beyond my imagination.
I recommended the site to anyone that enjoys writing.
Love all the writing contests. You can write for both poetry and prose contests. And everything you write including the contest entries gets feedback. Loving it!
Fanstory is a site I highly recommend as a writer. If you enjoy writing you really must participate on this website. You get feedback for everything you write. So if you write a poem you can share it on Fanstory (and Fanstory will copyright it when you post it!) and you will get feedback for it. I have learned so much from the authors on this website. I enjoy the writing classes, the community, and the contests too.
I've been a member of fanstory since 2003 and love it. I've learned an incredible amount, I've won contests, made great friends and have not seen another site that comes close to Fanstory!
Whether you're a polished writer, a a budding poet or one who writes scripts, there's a place for you at Fanstory.
Likewise, an offshoot, Fanart, is the place for artists, graphics and comics and photographers.
An all around great site. Can't beat what it offeres for $50 per year.

It has been two years now since I joined. After retiring I thought it would be a good time to start working on my book. I found this site and thought it might be a good way to get feedback from other writers. I was very pleased with the feedback I received. Writers, like me, were happy to share their thoughts on my book. This is a wonderful place for poets and authors to get feedback and learn. I have finished my book and couldn't be more excited about what the future holds. I owe this all to the wonderful reviewers on this site.
This is a really difficult one! I have met really quality people who are competent and talented writers. On the other hand the only way you get your work seen is by paying for it. The more you pay - the more reviewing your work is worth to a reviewer. That is not to say that a reviewer shouldn't be rewarded - or that a writer shouldn't pay something - but there has to be a more equitable way to do it. I have seen stuff on the featured page which is akin to vomiting all over a page - but it gets all the attention because someone paid a comparatively exorbitant amount to get it on the front/featured list.
I recommend this webiste. Fanstory is hypnotizing. I find myself obsessed as I spend my free time, even late at night, reviewing poems and stories. I've never read so many creative people in my life. I enjoy reviewing greatly. And what is nice is in return, I get feedback. The more time you spend on Fanstory the more you get out of it. It's wonderful to write a poem and get 50+ readers that will tell you what they think of it. It's a unique experience. I highly recommend this website. What a wonderful group of people.
Answer: That varies. Everyone has a different background. We have published authors writing reviews. And there are also those that are just getting started writing.
Answer: As far as I can gather as I was there ten (10) minutes ago where I was offered the chance to enter a free poetry contest if I updated my mebership - for a fee of course. Anybody who believes this is a place where a writer can improve himself is living in a dream world and deserves to be fleeced by these gangsters. As they say: There is one born every minute.
Answer: Yes, $10 a month with long-term money-savings options.

Answer: Each contest has its own criteria. Usually a minimum and/or maximum word count limit. With some contests you must pay "member cents". (Member cents are earned from writing reviews, or are bought outright). There averages probably about one new contest a day. With so many, winning one is not that big of a deal. The exception is the "site contests." (All the other contests are put forth by the members). Site contests cost nothing to enter, and often provide a cash prize of up to $100. So winning site contests is much more prestigious than the other ones. Plus, many of the member contests have very few entrants.
Answer: We think so! With upgraded membership you can enter all contests with cash prizes. That's $5,000 in prizes this year! Membership is only $9.95 per month (with discounts available for our one year or two year membership). You will also get feedback for everything you write.
