Highly recommended! To all of my friends and members on FanStory, I send a big cyber hug because without all of you and your wonderful teaching abilities and support I would have never had been published. FanStory is the real deal. The feedback I have received has been so very helpful in helping me with my poetry. I have learned so much over the years by being part of this community of writers and artists.
I enjoy sharing what I write on fanstory. I'm amazed at how posting my work here has improved my writing. It's great to receive unbiased feedback, corrections and suggestion from published authors. I've made some great friendships along the way as well. Through both posting and reviewing the work of others, I've learned what works and what doesn't.
Without finding this site, I don't think my dream of having my book published in print would have been realized.
FanStory is a great place to get honest opinions on what you write. The writing contests are challenging and offer a fun dimension to writing. It's helpful to write a book chapter or poem and have a place where you can get feedback from other writers. With the help from others on this site I learned how to write poems and book chapters that hold the interest of the reader This site is simply wonderful and helped me immensely become a much better writer.
This is the real deal and one of the most professional writing sites I have been involved with since I started writing. I highly recommend it.
I recommend fanstory because I have learned so much from the other members. I joined last year. I posted my first poem and have to admit I was very nervous! But the feedback was wonderful. People really were interested in helping me improve. I enjoy sharing my poetry for the feedback that I receive. The contests are fun too! I have won a few and that is always a good feeling! There are new contests every day.
The feedback I receive at is excellent. It's so nice to see how well my writing is doing in every category. Your ranking system is fantastic! Each day I can see how I stand on the ranking of writers. The review system is great. It encourages me to write reviews, allowing to understand better others work and, eventually - mine. I know I have a lot to improve and I found here quite a few writers willing to help me. Which never happened before on any other site. I can see from one glimpse everything I need, there is always so much to explore and I have never been bored being on Fanstory.
I learned on Fanstory that feedback is always required for improving quality. But more than that, I understood that the answers to the feedback also matter. And this was an important lesson for me. Thank you very much for everything! I will give FanStory.com five stars anytime.
I owe a lot to FanStory.com. FanStory.com made me a better writer. When I first joined this site I didn't fully understand how to write a good poem. However, through reviews I learned more about what poetry is all about and really worked hard to improve. Had it not been for FanStory.com and the wonderful people I have met on this site, I would have not have improved. I would have never been able to create something that a publication company would actually want to put into print.
I am addicted. Not only I am I receiving good input for my writing, but I really enjoy the ability to review and pass on constructive criticism to others. For any writing putting your work out for the public to see or hear is like standing naked in front of a crowd but the members here are very supportive and helpful. They go to great lengths to offer feedback that helps - does not tear down - and is meaningful.
I have written many poems but have rarely let anyone read them. But after placing three poems and getting good feedback I have confidence in my abilities.
Two years ago I took my first steps to write and I came to this website. Every writer who read my work on this web site offered me useful advice. They explained what I was doing wrong but also what I was doing right. I didn't expect such detailed feedback.
Mostly I learned of acceptance and yes some humility. The writing contests offer challenges I normally would never have attempted. I'm writing poetry that I didn't even know that existed. Haiku? What's that? Acrostic? Huh? That's part of where I get my enjoyment. The site is constantly challenging writers to try something different.
Very interesting and enjoyable site. If you write poetry or stories or are thinking of doing so I recommend it. You don't have to have a lot of experience (or any like me) you can learn from the site.
There's no doubt in my mind that in the years since I've joined Fanstory, my writing has grown by leaps and bounds. The people on the site are very giving and helpful to fledgling writers and I've made several friends there. I've also learned how to accept criticism without getting offended and use it for the better of my story. The contests are many and varied. I've also learned to become a better reviewer through my time on Fanstory. The administrator has been extremely helpful and answers every question. The downside to Fanstory is the people who think it's a fast track to publication and try to trash others work instead of giving helpful criticism.
The bottom line is if you're a new writer, the good people on Fanstory can teach you a lot if you're willing to listen.
I know they helped me.
Your writing gets generally fair reviews by other writers. There is an opportunity to gain deep learning and skills in poetry. The costs are not unfair and controlled by you. Tom, the owner has always been helpful, reasonable, and fair in my dealings over four years. I have been able to learn as well as teach and share with others which I find to be an honorable and positive undertaking. I cannot in any way understand some of the horrible reviews I've read here by others! I can only guess their expectations were way out of touch with reality!
I'm so glad I found Fanstory. When I discovered this site, I was looking for contests where I could enter my writing. This site offers all kinds of interesting contests every month. So I became a member, entered a few and won some too! But that's not all I found here. The writers that participate on this site are fantastic. I have received good feedback and support from so many reviewers that have given me confidence. Most importantly, I've met lots of wonderful people from all around the world and read some great stories and poems that I may never have heard if I hadn't joined this awesome site.
Writing a book has always been a dream for me. But I always had trouble keeping myself motivated. I think in part because writing is such a solitary activity. Fanstory helped me by putting me in touch with writers from around the world. The reviews I received were from other writers (many published) were genuine while also supportive and encouraging. I received advice on my book and the direction it was going. I highly recommend this website. For me it kept me interested in my writing while providing me with a place to learn and improve.
I enjoy FanStory. It provides poets, short story writers and writers of novels a place to get feedback for what they write. I find the site to be very easy to use. The support staff very helpful and friendly. It's easy to understand how to post your work and get feedback. I enjoy the daily writing prompt challenges. Each day they challenge me to write something different. The people that participate are primarily adult writers that write for enjoyment. Some are looking to be published (and many have). The site does a great job of helping author's improve. Try it - you won't be disappointed.
I've been using fanstory for almost six months now and I'm very heappy with it. It has really helped me a lot. I've joined many websites hoping they would give me a place to improve my writing and get in touch with publishers and authors. I was disappointed. But I found fanstory perfect for the job. The site is easy to use. The community is wonderful - so anxious to offer writers help. The contests are fun but also challenge you to try something different. Frankly, I'm a little addicted! But I'm writing more then I have ever before. I'm finding a new passion in my writing.
I have been a member for about six months now and I want to share that I really like it. It's easy to use which is important to me because I'm new to computers. It's fun to post your writing and to get feedback from other writers. I'm learning so much. Much more then I have in the past using other means (I have taken writing classes). I have met other writers from around the world. I really enjoy being part of this community and give it 5 stars!
I recommend fanstory to anyone that is looking to share their writing and enter writing contests. The feedback I receive for my writing is very helpful. The reviewers really seem to be interested in helping me improve. The reviews are usually detailed and helpful. There are over 50 writing contests that you can enter every month. I like the contests not just because of the prizes but because it gives me new ideas of what to write about. Great site for writers or someone looking to become a better writer!
In my opinion this site is absolutely brilliant. Never before have I had the opportunity to have my writing reviewed like this. It has been better than any writing workshop could be. There are some wonderful people in this community and I have enjoyed it. I have grown as a writer and this site is great at getting you motivated. So many contests to enter! For a poet to have such a sounding board is a treasure.
I joined for the contests. They are fun and give me the opportunity to try new things. I haven't won yet but my writing is improving thanks the feedback I receive from other writers. So perhaps one day! The site is easy to use and when I have questions I usually hear back pretty quickly. The other members on the site (that give me feedback) are usually very kind and helpful. This is a fun site but also everyone seems serious about improving as a writer. There are even published authors on the site that participate and give me feedback. There is also a fan base system in place as you get fans (and become a fan) you'll find your popularity grows and you get more feedback - and also will improve in the rankings. It's kinda like a game that helps keep it interesting (and keeps me motivated to write more).
A terrific site for anyone that enjoys writing. I have only been a member for about a month and have found the community to be friendly and supportive. I enjoy the writing contest. Am learning from the feedback that I get from other writers. It may be a little confusing at first but I learned quickly how to do everything including entering the poetry contests and sharing my writing for feedback from other writers. The support staff was very helpful with any questions that I had.
Fanstory was recommended to me by a friend who has been a longtime member. Candidly, I always thought my family and friends would only give careful, filtered criticism of my written work, and I needed an objective perspective. With the combination of my friend's endorsement and reasonable pricing, I decided to give Fanstory a try.
I am more than happy with my investment, as there are many facets of Fanstory that I particularly appreciate. The wide array of contests challenge me to write about new things, in new formats (and be incentivized to do so!) The community has not only been welcoming and kind, but insightful and helpful with their feedback. I also love the free register copyright feature; the idea that if, one day, I'm ready to seek publication, I can make my account private and limit its access. The website is designed thoughtfully in this regard.
That is all to say, although I am a relatively new member, I have no regrets in trying the website out and do wish I started sooner. I'm looking forward to seeing how I can continue to improve.
Answer: That varies. Everyone has a different background. We have published authors writing reviews. And there are also those that are just getting started writing.
Answer: As far as I can gather as I was there ten (10) minutes ago where I was offered the chance to enter a free poetry contest if I updated my mebership - for a fee of course. Anybody who believes this is a place where a writer can improve himself is living in a dream world and deserves to be fleeced by these gangsters. As they say: There is one born every minute.
Answer: Yes, $10 a month with long-term money-savings options.

Answer: Each contest has its own criteria. Usually a minimum and/or maximum word count limit. With some contests you must pay "member cents". (Member cents are earned from writing reviews, or are bought outright). There averages probably about one new contest a day. With so many, winning one is not that big of a deal. The exception is the "site contests." (All the other contests are put forth by the members). Site contests cost nothing to enter, and often provide a cash prize of up to $100. So winning site contests is much more prestigious than the other ones. Plus, many of the member contests have very few entrants.
Answer: We think so! With upgraded membership you can enter all contests with cash prizes. That's $5,000 in prizes this year! Membership is only $9.95 per month (with discounts available for our one year or two year membership). You will also get feedback for everything you write.
