The website is not UX friendly. Not intuitive. It's clunky and glitchy. Nothing makes sense. I designed my own website and use/edit it every single day, so it's not like I'm new to website design. This is one of the worst user experiences ever. It doesn't save information when you enter. After I added all guests to the list, I wanted to go back and edit some of the information before sending it out. Then after I edited the information, it was impossible to send out the invite. Evite had deleted ALL the contacts that I entered by hand. I have wanted to throw my computer so many times while trying to make a simple evite.
It's unfortunate that the New version is actually harder and more inefficient to to use than the old.
1. You must type things in 2 places
2. If you copy an old evite, you can't change the design anymore
3. You can't make your own crafty responses for rsvp's
One good thing is that you can add Text Blocks. I understand wanting to make money on the premium version but as person who has used this for over 20 years approx, I wish it was the old version
Evite has become glitchy and clunky with unexplained limits on function (ie) not being able to chat with all guests, a limit on the free invites that isn't clearly stated anywhere, and an inability to upgrade after the invite is sent... b/c that's when they tell you there's 12 person limit. Customer service is unreachable. I've used Evite for years and after this cluster f*ck of an invite will delete my account. I cannot recommend this company to anyone under any circumstances.
I do not create accounts with random websites (in this example, Evite) to answer an invitation that sell your personal information and geolocation with no clear opt out option. FCC needs to be notified of Evite's practices. Shut them down.
I used Evite when they were free and user-friendly. We had a BBQ this past weekend and I decided to use Evite. What a mistake—not user friendly at all. It was difficult to add new guests, I wasn't able to download my guest list (had to copy and paste with all the other mess on the screen, and now they are trying to get me to buy TY you cards! No, thank you!
I gave it 2 stars because the RSVPs seem to be working ok with the exception of the guest count feature. I should have read the reviews but I went ahead and paid $80 for up to 100 invites. What the don't tell you is that each of your guests will be solicited at the end of their RSVP to take advantage of several unrelated offers that you need to decline one at a time. Also - you can't see/edit the RSVP email invite or confirmation email and there is additional marketing for Amazon at the bottom of the confirmation email. So embarrassing, if I had known - I would not have signed up. There are other negatives, but who cares, I won't be back.
Not sure if they have been hacked but the site does not respond well to command. I had to restart my invite 3 times. Leaves a sliver of a window to add guests. I was not able remove a unintended guest and it wouldn't let me add guests. It was puzzling why when before when I used it, no problem. Next thing I know it had sent it out to all in my address book, including the person we are throwing the surprise for.
Horrible platform to send evites. What use to be easy is no longer. It was time consuming, stressful and EVITE will no longer be on my friend list.
So I've used Evite in the past but wanted a better experience, so I paid for it (wanted a personal photo added). Now that I'm trying to update the photo - I see NO help topics related to changing or updating the photo, no chat and I'm literally frustrated because I'm just waiting for them to email me back after completing a fill-in form on the website. If I pay for something, I expect better service.
Pro's:
They have good templates, you can easily create and send inviations.
Easy contact import from a excel or csv file
Con's:
Most of the guests do not receive the invites. They must get blocked by spam filters.
There is no option to resend, other than deleting the contact and creating a new one.
No customer support phone number
They do not respond to written customer support.
Stay away, it starts out great but then turns into your worst nightmare.
Used to be an easy to use invitation app thou it had definite flaws. Now, horrible! Can no longer import a list of invitees. The directions for this are totally wrong and do not work. Also the number of guests is geared to singles not couples. You would think this would be able to be selected in order to keep your attendee counts accurate... but noooo, you can only select '2' people for a 'YES' attending. Couples that select 'MAYBE' or 'NO' the default is 1 guest and can not be changed. Ridiculous. I have attempted to contact Evite to help them solve these issues but... CRICKETS! Moving on to better managed applications.
EVite has a zombie mode, where even as the owner you can't stop the service from "reminding" people that they have been invited to an event you haven't touched in a year. We had to cancel / postpone an event last year, and couldn't figure out how to delete it... eVite's warnings about all the data damage that would cause were both alarming and concerning. So we pushed the date to the future. Unbeknownst to us, eVite then sent reminders... not to us, but to the 100+ people invited to the event. WTF? It would be great it eVite contacted the "planners and organizers" of a zombie event before sending out reminders to the entire guest list. NO, the event is not happening. All recent RSVPs have been "NO". But really, eVite... you think I set up an event a year ago and let it run on autopilot until your reminder alert happened? Get real...
Navigate around the site to try and modify my invite was a pain, trying to find guests lists or send them messages would force my guests to create an account to view the messages. And why did the HOST (me) have to RSVP? The count for it is off because of that. I hate this site. I hate how the baby registry is missed because its all the way at the bottom, I hate that when I set up the fund part, it requires me to connect with Pledge account which force me to create another account. This site sucks and I would NEVER recc this site to any mother trying to plan their baby showers. Its stressful.
It is tacky, annoying to your invitees, and it is more work than just sending a group email. If you are already going to make a list of emails to send an invite to, why not just send the email directly? The evite will go direct into the spam folder of most people, and many will not bother to click the link.
If you want to invite some people to an event, just write the information into an email and ask people to RSVP.
I used to love using Evite. Recently, I "save" and it shows an error message. It is so glitchy, it just accidentally sent the Evite to everyone (200+) in my Evite contact list. Aaugh! What happened to the wonderful Evite of the past? Short staffed, no QA or usability any more?
I used to use evite and it was great! Easy to use for myself and the guests. But the last time I used it for a graduation invite this past May it was awful! Im not sure what happened but its the WORST! Hard to navigate, not intuitive, hard to find simple tasks, hard to make updates. Its just much harder to use than it needs to be! I even PAID for the version to make sure I got all the features for our grad party and it had no impact. What happened to you Evite? I miss the old you!
I used Evite to send invitations to our annual Christmas party. After the party, we decided to send a "Thank You" to our guests. At the END of the Evite thank you order, Evite said that the "individual purchase" would be $1.99. No big deal! What Evite failed to mention (intentionally of course) was that the cost was $1.99 PER RECIPIENT! $240 later I was surprised that Evite would stoop to such a low level scam.
For the past three years I used Evite to send invitations for an annual Christmas party. Every year Evite would incorporate my guest list into this year's invitation. Until this year. Out of a guest list of approximately 140 different email addresses, Evite incorporated only about 20. The rest... simply gone. So I contacted Evite by email for assistance. Their response? None. Wow. At least respond. But, what would you expect from a free service that has gotten dozens of bad reviews online. My solution? Contact their advertisers. Hit them in the pocket. That's obviously all Evite staff cares about.
I had to go from a three star to two stars because customer service was not responding to me. When I use the app, there are certain options not available. When I used the website they had had some options I liked that the app didn't have, however, it wouldn't connect to my contacts. I wasn't going to manually enter 40 phone numbers. The invitation designs are pretty vast.
They were going to put ads on my évites. I PAID for them not to; they put ads on my évites to everyone as if I was asking for gifts from Amazon and Target. They also changed the font i selected which screwed up the formatting after it went to 450 people.
Tried every which way from Sunday to join the zoom group, and was completely denied access —perhaps because I don't have an evite account? This for sure makes me NOT want to have one! So disappointed!
Too many problems to state here. Mainly, not being able to add invites I paid for. Non-existent customer support after several requests. No phone line or real time chat. Very frustrating. This should be a simple process.
Answer: Evite puts an UNMARKED advertisement on YOUR invitation. This advertisement is a link to Amazon and a list of gift items to purchase. Include in your invite, "DO NOT CLICK on advertisements on left side of invitation."
Evite has a rating of 1.2 stars from 70 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Evite most frequently mention customer service, email address and guest list. Evite ranks 196th among Event Planning sites.
