“Good site”

Joffery K.

I personally don't like the match maker concept because I don't think that chemistry between men and women can be figured out by a 30minute survey. But that's just my opinion and anyone who thinks that this concept works, should give eharmony a try. I have been using online dating for several years now and eharmony is one of the most reliable dating sites I came across. It did not work for me but that is not the fault of eharmony. I personally just like sites liek Mingle2day and Match much more because as I wrote in the beginning, I don't really like the match maker concept. But it is a good site!

As bad as this site was, it just got seriously worse. They came up with a new compatibility test, and when you try it there's no way to opt out. The choices are RIDICULOUS, so a, b, c, d are all not contenders for answers, no write in option, and once you start you have no access to any part of your account ( even to discontinue membership) until you finish. Terrible site.

I won't recommend anyone to use this site. It was an awful experience. I was signing up hoping to meet someone, but in reality, the site database is tiny, and most of the users are inactive. I barely chat with anyone in the first month. It's just getting worse since then. They charged a premium price tag and refused any cancellations and refunds. I was trapped to 6 monthly contracts with dysfunctional services. Their customer service is also awful; they never listen, and no matter what you try to get into them, they ignore it. Its a borderline scam site!

Tip for consumers:
Never use this service!

Beyond any doubt it's complete fraud and total scam. The goal of Eharmony is simple: taking your money. They have absolutely sinister motives and use all kinds of fraudulent tricks: fake likes, fake profiles, messages sent by bots, automatic renewal of membership and all kinds of unauthorized charges, which are not mentioned even in the fine print. Absolute scam and fraud!

I started using this dating service.
A short time later I got married.
They refused to cancel my payments until the 12 months was finished.
Agressive company. Avoid.

Tip for consumers:
That Eharmony believes that marriage is not a good enough reason to stop membership payments

This is the worst dating site I have experienced (out of 7+). Complete rip off. They trick you into signing for longer than necessary without making the fees and cancellations transparent. The psychological test is very basic, absolutely no useful info. Screening of people by location (country) does not work well even with premium membership! The 'matches' you get have nothing to do with real compatibility. And when you want to cancel the subscription after less than 2 weeks (with the expectation of getting a full refund as stated in their Legal disclaimer), you get charged 65 GBP for the useless 'psychological test''. Net, this site is a money-making machine with zero customer service. Importantly, the quality of profiles is also very, very low.

I have just cancelled my subscription (within the 14 days) AND not even used the site, they are now trying to tell me that my personality profile cost £130, and because I cancelled and now a 'basic' member, I owe them 50% of something that wasn't explained nor did I agree to! So not only have I paid nearly £60, they now want another £5.
I would give them zero stars if that option was available.

Tip for consumers:
Yes, avoid eharmony at all cost...

I owe them £176 and they will not let go I'm trying to find the money but finding it hard.
I have written to them of my situation but they won't listen
A case of an American could not care a sh-t site. Stay away from it.

You cant see if there are suitable matches in your area before signing up and committing to paying every month, once signed up there is no getting out of their contract with you, even when there are no suitable singles on their site for you. They just recommend you change your search critea to match what they have on their books. Definatly not the best dating site available currently.

Tip for consumers:
The fact that they dont have suitable matches and they expect you to alter your search criteria

Although being enticed by 'people in my area' it isn't until you join you realise this isn't the case.
They claim £130 is for profiling! This is just a con.
I cancelled the following day of joining as I thought I had 14 days cool off period and it was clear I had been targeted and scammed.
They charged me £65 and wouldn't let me into my account even though I had paid the first monthly fee!
Please don't join. It's an awful site. Match or Zoosk is better as they offer 1 month so at least you can test before committing to a longer period.
I'm going to take advice as I'm not sure all is legal and I think they rely on people not fighting back.

Avoid using E Harmony at all costs!

I joined last year when they had an offer on, I think it was £60 for the year. I turned off the auto renewal as I always do as I don't agree with company's automatically renewing a service for a years time when it might not be required.

I have been bombarded with emails saying I now owe them £166.80 as i have renewed for another year and I need to make the payment before further action is taken. I've requested to speak to a real human to explain the situation but all I get is an auto generated email response and the customer service number doesn't even ring.

Will be blocking all contact and if they wish to take this further happy to go to the financial ombudsman with my complaint and any other consumer complaints system I can find. Absolute scam!

EHarmony cheats are refusing to give my money back. Until they sort this out, I'll have to keep posting my review here.

Tip for consumers:
In the Terms and Conditions, you won't find any reference to how much the company will refund should you choose to cancel. The company uses a vague phrase 'reasonable value' and it uses this to retain whatever amount they robbers want to from the refund amount. I paid £95. I cancelled my subscription within hours as I felt some profiles were fake. The company got back to me paying only £30. There is no one you can talk to; no phone number; no chat. So you keep guessing about the vague T&Cs.

Letter before court claim

Dear Sir or Madam,

Re: My claim for a full refund from Eharmony.

I have not received a reply to previous emails and so send this ‘letter before claim' to inform Eharmony that I shall be making a legal claim against them in court if my membership fee of £71.76 is not returned to me in full.

I am once again requesting a full refund of the purchase price of £71.76 on the grounds that the service was not of satisfactory quality under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. There were no matches at all in my county and only 4 bad matches within a 50KM radius. This is clearly a service that is inadequate and is misrepresented by your advertising under the Consumer Rights act of 2015.
I would like a reply as soon as possible so that I know you have received this letter.
If I do not receive a satisfactory response from you within 14 days of the date of this letter, I intend to issue proceedings against Eharmony or its parent company in the county court without further notice. This may increase your liability for costs substantially. If your company is ruled against, as they almost certainly will be, you may face paying large court costs.

I refer you to the Practice Direction on pre-action conduct under the Civil Procedure Rules, and in particular to paragraph 13-16 which sets out the sanctions the court may impose if you fail to comply with the Practice Direction.

I look forward to your acknowledgement.

Yours faithfully

Tip for consumers:
Terrible company. High fees and not a single match for miles around but a no re-fund policy. I'm now having to go to court to get my money back

Eharmony huh? Meant to be quite a decent site for singletons out there, right? Nopes. Seriously wordy, lengthy and too many stoopid questions to get any meaningful conversation going. Whats wrong with just sending a message, like hi, hows it going? But NOO, EH wants you to fill in a load of dum q&a's before you can get to the message. Even before you can work out whether you are interested in the guy.
It just seems a lot of hard work for no reason - should be able to simplify the whole process... like go to the pub and meet someone in real life... sadly we have to resort to dumb sites like eHarmony to make our singleton lives less fun living.

Firstly - It isn't until you have paid your money that you find out that they don't match according to height of the pitiably few "matches" they have purported to have 'found' almost all of them are shorter than me by a country mile.
Secondly the website claims to 'match' education, interests etc but I have had profiles through of people who can't even spell their job title.
Finally if that wasn't disappointing enough they will not reply to issues raised by email. Save your money the site is rubbish
