As a veteran teacher, I have been most impressed with the lessons on Edgenuity. The content is solid. The lesson process is a scaffolding process which is exactly what should be taking place in the traditional classroom. The quizzes and test are thorough. They do require more than rote memory. They require that you have paid attention to each lesson and can apply the information presented to you. THIS is where traditional classrooms are deficient. Many times the teacher makes the class wait on students who were absent or have special needs. Edgenuity does not make you wait. You are only accountable to yourself.
This might be the worst online schooling available, they dont know you, care about you, and want you to get it wrong so bad. And the "teachers" just make everything harder and, in my opinion, suck at their job. They basically say "Hey, hope you are doing good!" Thats it. If you are considering switching to edgenuity from another form of school, dont waste your time.
Just started online learning with my friend whos also doing Edgenuity. It was ok at first, but then we immediately agreed that it was just too boring and we dreaded the part of the day when we had to do it. It also turned out that one of the classes was teaching the wrong info for the test. The videos were way too long and I zoned out many times. Sometimes I find myself going on other sites to entertain myself. Definitely don't recommend, overall poor experience and I do hope in the future our school will endorse in other learning platforms.
I am a teacher and a parent. My daughter is using this for remote learning. She had been complaining that the tests cover material not addressed in the lessons. Initially admonished her for racing through and not paying attention, until I witnessed it myself. In a social studies unit test on colonial America there were 3/15 questions that required knowledge of more recent history to be able to fully comprehend the question and answers. For example, she was asked to evaluate a political cartoon from the 1921 Emergency Quota Act for bias. She is a 7th grader learning about the events that preceded the revolution. How can she evaluate a political cartoon about an event she knows nothing about? How is that a fair assessment of her knowledge?
This program is poorly made, does not break down curriculum properly for all learners and is quite frankly a waste of time. I am tutoring 18 students from multiple districts in my state who are using this program, and I am forced to actually teach them everything after each lesson. I guess this program is an attempt to do the job of a lazy ELA teacher or district and I highly do not recommend. If your childs school uses this, expect to become a teacher overnight and your child to not receive the education your tax dollars are paying for.
I have all B+ and A- in my classes, and I don't really hate it that much. But I feel like i need to state my opinion, anyways, Edgenuity is below perfect for many reasons, it takes the amount of time it takes for a tree to grow for the teachers to say one singular word. Remember that one thing i said about my grades? Those were cheated! Yeah! This website barely teaches anything, whenever there's a lesson being taught, my brain goes into sleep mode and everything I hear goes into one ear and out the other. Onto the glitches, sometimes whenever I go onto an assignment, some parts will just not show up, and I am required to either go back to last part and go to the next part again or straight up just reload the assignment. Also it takes everything a long time to load in general (might be cause I use Microsoft Edge)
Basically, if you don't want to get Timmy Turner'd when you go to public, if you see Edgenuity then run 100 meters away from it and burn it with fire.
This platform was developed by lazy or incompetent programmers, there are so many design flaws I can't even keep count. Not to mention the curriculum is not appropriate for children growing up in the Southwest. Where are kids living in Arizona supposed to find a maple leaf for their science lesson? Our school is using it for kindergarten and these poor kids cannot even read, how are they supposed to read the directions. If your school uses this platform I suggest finding a new school ASAP.
It would be really nice if, when I email about an issue that I'm having with a couple of students' classes, the response I receive actually had a solution to the problem rather than a more technical explanation of what I already told them. Utterly useless.
The lessons are terrible. Vague, repetitive, and drawn out. They refuse to provide necessary information or material until you do a quiz. The most annoying thing is how it forces you to stay on a lesson page until a video or audio clip has completed. Sometimes it's just a short bit of text to read that you have to sit on for minutes until you can continue. Whoever's job it is to format this site has little to no care for those who actually use it.
I have contacted support several times about the sound being so low that students can not hear it. I have not received any substantial answers except to try closed captions, try another server or device. I feel that these options are very disrespectful and dismisses to students who might be struggling with various learning issues or financial difficulties. Reading at a quick pace in closed captions doesn't work for everyone and not all students have access to multiple devices within the home or the financial stability to access a new one. Consequently several of my students are falling behind and getting very frustrated. I have tried recording the videos for my students but since the video pops up in a separate screen it doesn't record the video or audio. I don't feel that this platform is equitable for all and really only works well for students who are financially stable, learning issue free, and have had the opportunity for a well structured life and education.
This is a really great homeschool option! I do like that you won't get marked if you turn in an assignment late. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 star review is because I feel like some of it can be overwhelming at times. If I get sick I have to choose between getting behind and having to make it up with a lot of extra work, or work anyway even though I'm sick.
I was having trouble connecting with the student's assignments online so that I could read them over while the student was also looking at the same assignment. As soon as Edgenuity got my message and understood exactly what it was I was having trouble with. The problem was solved. I am very thankful for this great program that allows teachers to focus on what's important, and that's the kid and their understanding of the work they are assigned. You guys rock! Thank you, seriously, thank you for what you do! Sandy B., Reno, NV
I've been using edgenuity as a student for two years; it is by far the WORST learning platform I've ever encountered. The people in the videos sound like their held at gun-point and are forced to do this; nothing is interesting about the videos either, It's just a person explaining how they solve a problem. There is nothing special about the problems either, its just plain boring.
I sent a nice letter of enquiry over about virtual-distance learning at the high school level. Resume included, and an application letter. NOTHING happened for about six weeks. Then I get a nice email that says I have to call a toll free number to get my question answered... I didn't ASK any questions. I merely referenced my credentials to see if they might be of use to Edgenuity in a virtual classroom setting...
I have been using Edgenuity for about three months now, and I have been on the verge of tearing my hair out! This program lacks some serious stimulation, -the kind that a student would receive in an actual school,- and the systems that determine if an answer is correct or incorrect, will sometimes mark you response wrong, even if you have the correct answer. (The questions and answers are taken from other sites) The classes are boring, and the site crashes from time to time. Over all, I give this Program, 1 out of 5.
The agent explained to me that such a repot does not exist. This is just another flaw in your program. Odyssessy Ware offered the report. A teacher could put in a chosen date(s) and see exactly what a student had attempted or completed in that time frame. You don't offer that... terrible!
When I have asked several questions, customer service will regularly answer them 1 month later. By that time, the issue has been resolved. For the issues that I would like fixed, they say they are not able to (the ability to schedule, removing the required subject from Odyssey.) I don't find them to be a particularly helpful company for regular teachers.
This online schooling program is a waste of time and, if you have to pay for it, money. The kids learn absolutely nothing, they have no help, and they are left frustrated and stressed. Sesame Street is a better teacher than any crap Edgenuity has.
Support team lady was so kind, helpful, professional, knowledgeable, expert and positive in her response to the issue that we had. She provided all best possible options to help us. There were some technical challenges as it was the weekend when we called for help. She was very attentive to listen our issues. I will give 101 out of 100 to her for the extended support.
We had problems the first week. My daughter's progress was reset to the beginning of the week. Guy said he would escalate it to the next level. Nothing ever happened. No one ever returned the email or call. This has happened numerous times. They don't do anything about it even though this sets kids so far back they cant catch up. Answers are marked as wrong even though they are right.
Answer: Ingenuity is marketed for teachers it is not for students they do not understand that we cannot all be on the same Pace I understand your stress and I have cried as well over this course I hope we can both recover our grades
Answer: Because its just an orange and gray screen we stare at and learn nothing from and get bad grades also its the worst out there and how did someone rate it 5 stars they must work at edgenuity and protect it
Answer: Its not supposed to be fun! Its supposed to be a gear grinding terrible program that just wants money
Answer: I KNOW! This is how they are trying to kill off the Gen Z population.
Answer: I agree with you. I am a student using Edgenuity- meanwhile missing my first year of highschool. Just don't get mad at your kids like my parents get upset with me because I am suicidal from this website.
Answer: Failing. 100% failing. Theres no way you can efficently learn from this website.
Answer: We have elementary content offered through our Pathblazer product. You can find more information about it here: https://www.edgenuity.com/products-and-services/intervention/#pathblazer. We offer Pathblazer as a blended or supplemental learning solution. Pathblazer includes a Math and ELA intervention program for Tier 1 and 2 RTI support with supplemental curriculum for science and social studies that teachers can use for skills recovery and targeted instruction.
Answer: Because they don't care and they are getting paid no matter what.
Answer: Enginuity isnt for students it's for teachers it isn't set to understand how a child thinks or how they all react what it picks up is that they failed and that's all they have to redo everything because that's how the program works
Answer: It looks for key words. If you have the right words written, you are correct. If you have the right answer but use a word that is a bad keyword they count it wrong
