Loving it for Homeschooling
September 27, 2016

I stumbled across eChineseLearning while searching for chinese lessons for my kids. The site has so many free resources--nursery rhymes, children's stories, etc. I've been using these while homeschooling. I also just started the one-on-one lessons for my daughter, and she LOVES it. Has so much fun skyping with her teacher. Thrilled!

I love Chinese!
February 17, 2022

My high school is in Los Angeles and there are many Chinese students study with me. I often hear them talk about various Chinese cultures, which made me feel so interested in China.
I plan to study in China in future. When I saw a Chinese teacher recommending eChineseleaning on YouTube, I went to the website and signed up for a free trial. I couldn't believe that even though it was free, the teacher was very responsible and would create a study plan for me after the class based on my foundation.
Later I ordered a six-month course. One Chinese lesson per week didn't make me feel tired and the teacher would assign some homework after the lesson to reinforce what I had learned.
This proved to be a good idea. After 5 months of the course, I was able to communicate with the teacher in Chinese in a simple way.
I'm going to order another course for the YCT exam after I finish this one. It will prepare me for my future study in China.
Much appreciation for this platform and the teachers who taught me, I am so happy to meet you guys!

I have been trying to pass HSK 5 for a while now. I keep getting stuck with more of the grammar and speaking that is advanced. I couldn't find anything online that really helps with this--gives more instruction around your specific needs, or gaps in Mandarin knowledge. I found eChineseLearning six months ago, and I just passed my HSK 5 test. I honestly wasn't sure it was possible, but thanks to my teacher Dora I am good to go! Thank you so much!

I'm a city planner and I've started working in China on Chinese projects more and more over the past 10 years or so, due to all the growth there. I looked into Chinese classes to help communicate with the Chinese engineers that I work with. Unfortunately, the basic conversations weren't related to my work. With eChineseLearning I was able to choose my topics and focus on that face to face. In my spare time I studied basic Chinese, but this company was able to give me exactly what I wanted. I'm still renewing my lessons.

My family is Chinese, but my Chinese is not good. Growing up my parents spoke it at home, but they weren't very strict about me doing the same. They emphasized me learning English. I also didn't want to speak Chinese because I wanted to fit in better. Fast-forward 22 years and I wish I'd learned more when I was a kid.

I visited my family in China one year ago and the experience really opened my eyes. I realized how much about myself I still had to learn, and how much that meant I should learn Chinese. I chose to take classes with eChineseLearning because I can do it virtually anywhere. My classes are professional and I can definitely see progress. So can my family. I recommend this program!

My parents pressured me into learning Chinese (Mandarin) this year. I enrolled in a high school class but found that it wasn't really focused on speaking.

While my high school class did teach me about Chinese culture and pinyin, the teacher couldn't really set time aside to help me personally.

I decided to sign up with eChineseLearning after a Free Trial and it really helped to supplement what I was learning in class. My classmates made tons of mistakes and the teacher couldn't really correct them. My teachers on this website guided me and gave me their 100% full attention. Soon I became the best speaker in the class.

Yes, the extra money I paid is tough but it's worth it in the long run, since the Chinese tones are so important.

I came to China for working half a year ago. At that time, I could speak some simple Chinese sentences and it made me feel confident that I could live in China. However, after entering the workplace, problems arose since couldn't communicate with clients during business meetings, which made me feel down. Then I found eChineseLearning on YouTube and it helped me a lot.
Lustiness communication in China is totally different from my country so only knowing conversational Chinese is not enough. My teacher introduced me to lots of terminology used in a Chinese business environment as well as customs in Chinese business culture, which helped me adapt to my new working environment.
I plan to continue taking classes about Chinese culture in the future with eChineseLearning.

I'm in my 50s and have always had an interest in Mandarin Chinese. However, I'm a bit shy to join a college class in my area because of my age- most of the students are in their 20s!

Also, with my job I didn't have much time for both evening classes and my kids. After learning a bit more about online learning I decided to sign up for some Free Trials and I liked the feeling that I got from the teacher at e-chinese-learning.

Learning online helped take away my shyness and I felt very comfortable face-to-face with the teacher. It's good because
A) you can really watch the teacher's mouth up close as they make the Chinese sounds
B) you get feedback immediately
C) your learning is personalized. Since I wasn't moving to China or didn't need to know business Chinese, I just focused on my interests.
D) you don't have to feel stupid about making beginner mistakes in front of a classroom!

I renewed my subscription for a second year! Planning on visiting China this summer.

I have been working with a teacher from eChineseLearning for 6 months, and think that this way of learning, 1-on-1 with a teacher is the best way to learn. Sometimes I do find technical difficulties with Skype somewhat frustrating, as it can effect video quality, but I think the value I get from classes outways that. I love my teacher, she works at the pace I need and is very sweet. Despite some techincal problems, it is really great to be meeting face to face with a teacher who is all the way in China. It makes me feel like my learning is more relevant and in tune with what is happening in China and I get more insight into Chinese culture. Each class is fun with interesting content, and I get a lot of practice on the worst part of learning Chinese--tones! Ah, they are my bane, but I am sure with my teacher I will get there!

I got HSK 4!
October 16, 2019

I want to be eligible to go to universities in China so I have to pass the HSK test. I didn't expect to pass it so quickly but with help of my teachers at eChineseLearning, I made it! I was so excited and wanted to extend my biggest thanks to eChineseLearning and all of my Chinese teachers.
I have a main teacher and 2 secondary teachers that cooperate to improve my Chinese learning. They gave me feedback quickly whenever I have questions and they also encouraged me often, which made me confident and believe in myself. The support team helped not only during the class but also with my homework. The homework is not very difficult but it would take time to contemplate the answer. And they will keep an eye on my learning process to ensure that I practice Chinese every day.
So don't be afraid of Chinese. It isn't as difficult as we think. What we need to do is practice in a sensible way.

The key to learning Chinese is to not only understand the pronunciation with all the tones but also understand the culture. That is really the key to being able to communicate since China is such a large country with different norms. Thankfully, eChineseLearning gave me a teacher that was from the region I visited regularly for work, so she was able to really help me out with everything I needed. I am very grateful for your assistantce and look forward to working with eChineseLearning for a long time to come.

I cannot say enough about how incredible my Chinese teacher was. Seriously, she was amazing! I spent months trying to teach myself Chinese using Rosetta Stone and a few other self-study tools, and it just wasn't working (duh!). I did some searching for an alternative and discovered eChineseLearning. They arranged a teacher for me, and she was a tremendous help. She patiently worked through the biggest problem Rosetta Stone couldn't solve for me, my pronunciation. If you're in the market for a teacher, I encourage you to try eChineseLearning!

The Class Is Helpful
November 2, 2019

Because my mom is Chinese, I can speak a little bit of Chinese. I also love Chinese culture, so I decided to go to China for university. But to apply, I had to pass the HSK test. Unfortunately, my Chinese was only good enough for daily conversation, so I needed professional practice and guidance.

I was still in high school, so going to a language school wasn't an option for me. So online classes were the best choice for me. I researched a lot of websites and even did some trial lessons on several different platforms. But in the end, I chose eChineseLearning because of their unique learning system and professional teachers. Basically, you can have two or more teachers at a time to help you study and give you feedback on time. One of them takes charge of teaching, and other will help students with their homework. I'm definitely a procrastinator by nature, so this was really helpful to me.

I give my experience with this service the highest rating! When my company decided to move me to China I was terrified. Although I am 3rd generation Chinese, I didn't speak a word of Mandarin. Then, suddenly I have this huge pressure to not only speak the language but speak it well. My company started some immersive classes but it wasn't enough so I went to the internet for help. I found these classes online and dove right it. I needed all the help I could get! It turns out my teacher is amazing and the sweetest person. I have advanced so much more quickly than I could hope and we spend a lot of time on my problem areas, which was much harder to do when I was in class with everyone else versus just me and the teacher. Overall its less pressure and highly convenient compared to a group class. Love it!

Love my Chinese teacher
November 7, 2019

I had a great experience with eChineseLearning.com! I got a job teaching English in China, but when I arrived, I didn't speak any Chinese. Everything was difficult - I couldn't order food, sign up for a bank account or phone plan, or do anything on my own. I didn't want to be a burden to my Chinese friends any longer, so I decided to start learning Mandarin twice a week with eChineseLearning. I've only been taking classes for three months, but already I can buy food, have simple conversations with my neighbors, and talk with my students in Mandarin! I am still definitely not fluent and will have to put in a lot more hours of class and practice before I am, but I feel way more like a functioning adult than I did before. It feels like I got my independence back! Thanks a lot to my amazing teachers Jennifer Laoshi and Becky laoshi <3

Passed GCSE--yes!
October 17, 2016

Been studying in the UK for the GCSE for a while, now. But Chinese is HARD. My eChineseLearning teacher selected the best materials for me to use to hammer out the stuff I struggle with (I'm actually more advanced speaking, but my writing sucks). Totally passed, thank you Helena!

Loved my lessons
November 11, 2018

I find it hard to learn anything online. Even in college it just didn't fit me. So when I started learning Mandarin, I thought learning online would NEVER work. I tried eChineseLearning and it was one of the funnest experiences and I looked forward to every lesson I had with Dora, my teacher. She took it really slowly and taught me everything from the tones to how to write the characters. My favorite lesson was the one where we talked about chunjie, the spring festival in China. I highly recommend eChineseLearning to anyone looking to learn Mandarin from the comfort of their own couch!

I was really struggling with passing HSK 4. I couldn't figure out what I wasn't understanding--it was getting to be too much to study on my own. I had been able to pass the other levels with school/ university classes, but they weren't cutting it anymore. Joyce, my tutor, has really made all the difference in the world. I took my level in July and passed with flying colors. Couldn't do it without her!

eChineseLearning.com has been one of the best things I've done this year. I'm so glad I went with this program vs. taking or spending more time and money on language courses in school.

I live in a busy city where rush hour is no joke so the fact that I can go home after a long day of work and not have to leave again if I can help it works out perfectly for me.

I like all of the tutors I have had so far. The lesson plans have been built around what I want to focus on and advance at my own pace. They do challenge me but I never feel left behind. I always finish a lesson with a good grasp of the material.

I feel like I have advanced so much quicker than when I studied in Beijing in a classroom setting. It's just one to one instruction so it's much more productive.

The best aspect is that since I'm a bit of a night owl their time zone office hours work perfectly for me. If you are an early bird it would work equally as well.

I think I'll continue with them well after my subscription has ended. There are so many categories to learn. Even though I don't need business Chinese for my current job I am planning on making a career transition and it will come in handy.

They definitely have my stamp of approval.
