You'll read a dozen of these kinds of reviews. In fact, there's one here that followed just about the same plot that this one does. Ordered a plant back in April, it never arrived. I messaged them regarding a refund. They told me in two weeks. In four weeks. In six weeks. In between, I had been sending emails and calling them, receiving another date several weeks down the line, or absolutely nothing at all. Four months later and I am still waiting. Honestly, there's little point in reiterating a point that so many others have already made here. I am going to join the rapidly growing anti-fan base and will never do business with Burgess again. Hopefully I can save you the same trouble.
What a joke! Items dead or not as described or both. After waiting almost 4 months for my order (just got it today) very disappointed to say the least. Dont waist your time, planning, or $ with this company! Will not let me upload the rest of the pictures said they are to big.
Let me add my voice to the list of dissatisfied customers. You get what you pay for. They has this B. S. policy that no returns or refunds are allowed without the original shipping label. Who keeps this any why does no one else in this world have such a ridiculous policy. You can't cancel the order. It arrived 2 weeks late well beyond planting season. It has a short shipment. Telephone line is off the hook so no one answers. Email customer service is of no help. Rip joint!
Same complaint, take forever to send product, customer service doesn't bother to answer. Tried to get on to my account and doesn't work. Requested to change password, no reply. If this is how they treat customers making purchases, I can't even imagine what it would be like to deal with them if you have a problem. NEVER AGAIN.
Placed a very good size order with them about 6 weeks ago. Have not heard or seen anything from them! The number that is listed doesn't even ring you just get a "user busy" message! I don't do business with anyone you speak to! Considering filing a complaint with IL Agriculture Dept. never again
I thought I would give them a try, even after reading some negative reviews. I was wrong! Don't waste your time and money, since they take forever to get you your order, the plants are really teeny weeny and one of the plants that was shipped as bare root had no roots! I contacted customer service for a simple replacement and all I got back was the standard, you must send back the shipping label, blah, blah, blah, when they have all of that information in my order. I am supposed to waste more time and money and their customer service is not customer service or even logical. They figure they can wait you out and then you will get frustrated and not bother! Look at the picture of the bare root Sassafras "tree" that they sent. It is a joke! They should be investigated by their State Attorney General's Office for Fraud. Hey, that's not a bad idea. Does anyone have the contact address for the Illinois Attorney General's Office?
I don't write reviews but this company screwed me over good. I'm a retired Air Force Veteran and all I wanted was some trees to create a privacy fence. Ordered 195.00 worth that never showed. Company says they shipped fedex never delivered. I could not file a claim with fedex because I argued with Burgess over 90 days about where they were. Customer service is by email only, cant call. I didn't ship them or choose the shipper or decide when to ship. I simply ordered, paid, and got nothing but terrible service. I hope they go bankrupt on that 195.00 of hard earned money.
Placed order in April received order late June. And not what I ordered they substituted for something else. Ordered the sampler trees, received unnamed dead twigs with a very few roots, will never buy from again. If you need beautiful trees with fast shipping go to conifer Kingdom
Cust. Service got back ahold of me after about 3 months. They said my 100 strawberries, and large elephant ear, and big $#*! hosta, were going to be replaced. We will see. Have had this problem with this co. Before but had never saved the ship label. So far this has sucked. Will see how they do
Plants arrived after 6 weeks, and 2 emails to CS, in a plastic bag with no shipping protection. The bag was mucky inside with rotted leaves. One plant had no leaves, the other had a few black diseased leaves. I'm going to try to save them, but who would want to ever order from this shoddy, shady company again. Their refund policy, if you don't ship the dead plants back, is for money off on your next order... who would order twice from this disreputable company!. Still waiting for my seeds... maybe I'll receive them in time for Christmas!
Waited 3 months for my plants that came barely alive. Emailed them countless times. First i was told there still growing. But when u look at em nothing looks like its been growing. Not only they shipped em across country in a plastic bag and expect usps not to break it. One of them was a wheeping rose which looks like a barely alive stick with no pot no dirt no water. Im not sure if any of em r even going to make it
Ordered plants April 16,2018. Cancelled via email on May 21 due to hot and dry Texas weather. Burgess still shipped a few days later. I refused package unopened on June 4. Called Burgess on June 13 regarding refund. They claimed no record of return. I sent them copy of receipt for return. On June 26, no correspondence or refund. I called CS and questioned status. After a several minute wait, I was told refund was "in process". I asked why I had not received any email about refund. CS rep stated she did not know why, but she had heard the same complaint from other callers. Still no correspondence, but received refund (less shipping and return cost) on July 9. Customer service is virtually non existent with Burgess ( except to help you place an order). Once Burgess has your money, they do not want to make any returns. Will NEVER do any business with this company again and I suggest you do the same.
I purchased an established peach tree which arrived as a 10" stick with roots. The goji berry vine died. The butterfly bush was also supposed to established. It was 3" tall! Customer service does not exist. Emailed the company and tried calling.
Don't waste you money on sub-par plants. I wish I had check reviews before wasting almost $100! The image attached is of the established peach tree after I planted it in soil and tried to get it to grow for the past 3 weeks!
Ordered 2 weeping rose plants on March 6 2021 & received them on May 1... apparently DEAD. Planted them in effort to revive them and 2 months later gave up and contacted Burgess for refund. Was told to return product in original wrapping at my expense for replacement... not refundable. Original packaging had been long discarded, so I disputed charge with credit card company. Burgess acknowledged responsibility but in Oct. 2021 re-billed credit card and denied culpability. Don't deal with Burgess!
Ordered and still waiting, when placed it said to allow 2 weeks. Called both numbers found for customer service, several times, constant busy signal. Emailed customer service twice, no response. Cannot cancel order as there is no where on the site to cancel. Don't order from this company.
This company is the worst! Every part of my experience with them was awful. If you want to be totally disappointed like I was with there service and products just take a few hundred dollar bills and burn them.
Received bone dried death plants and trees. Horrible, unprofessional, JOKE. Company will not provide tracking number because per supervisor "we do not have internet access and we do not send tracking numbers..."? "mailing time between 10-14 days and we deliver all over USA"... what I received yesterday was a typical result of that. NEVER AGAIN!
I was looking at heirloom seeds in their catalog and was wondering how to find the heirloom seeds on the website so I emailed them. After a few days I received a response that said "we do not carry heirloom seeds". WHAT? So I send them pictures of their catalog and say you have heirloom seeds but I can't order them online? After another few day wait I get "Look them up by product number". So in short, this company doesn't even know what they offer! I ordered from them anyway thinking just one person didn't care much but I wish I would have read the reviews first. Now I'm dreading what my order will look like or when it will get here. It has been 10 days so far.
I placed an order with eBurgess over 7 weeks ago. I received a packet of bean seeds. They told me I received carrot seeds as well but they were not in the package and apparently they will not replace them because I threw away the mailing envelope. I am still waiting on the fruit trees, strawberry plants, and the "free gifts". I wish I had read these reviews first. I will never purchase anything from this company again.
I placed my order on March 26. The expected ship date was between 4/12 - 4/17. Todays date is 6/9 and they have shipped nothing, but I received my third notification that one of my items is now out of stock.
Answer: My advice is to NEVER order anything from Burgess as they send dead plants, sticks and twigs and if you have placed an order then go ahead and ask for a refund because you wont be happy. The plants they send are typically dead or will not live long. Don't trust their warranty as they do not honor any warranty. Burgess has sister companies with different names because Burgess is now known as dishonest and a scam. Any good reviews you see are probably from the company itself. Read through the 1000's of reviews and you will be satisfied you did not buy from Burgess or its sister companies.
