“I disagree with the rating of American Cruise Lines”

Michael D.
4/18/17

Yes, ACL is expensive but we have made five cruises with them and are booked for a sixth and all have been great. Only one had food quality not quite up to that of the other ACL cruises we took. The crew is generally English-speaking college students or after college folks and are always extremely helpful. Being able to request specific needs, such as food items, in advance is very, very nice. Only one of the cruises had a couple of (well-behaved) children as the rest of the group, such as ourselves, consists of the "older" generation. I don't think cost should be such a major contributor to a review but yes it should be mentioned. All the on-board entertainment has been truly great so rethink your reviews on this line, please.

“Upgraded accommodations--$100 each. No refund!”

Total disregard for 3 older women and need to have room to make it to the bathroom at night. Never made up so we could walk around. Refused to make adjustment to our bill as we paid an upcharge for this "upgraded" accommodation. They gave us shoulder to shoulder, butt to butt sleeping. Never again will we use Norwegian Cruiseline!

The site is horrible. It offers filters but takes no notice. It tries to sell the same cruises whatever your preference. Very slow to load and not particularly helpful.

Once again Cruise Critic has squashed a review just because of the truth. As has been stated here and many other places, Cruise Critic is run and operated by the cruise lines. I recently posted a review that highlights and proves, thru their own website, that they are discriminating against solo travelers. Celebrity is " penalizing" solo travelers to the tune of 300% supplemental charges. Once this was posted for everyone to see, Celebrity had Cruise Critic remove my posting so fellow travelers would not find out about their shady practices. They banned me and removed all the posts and information. According to them, I had used a "character" in my wording that was inappropriate. Boycott Cruise Critic!
Please forward to any and all cruisers you know!

Tip for consumers:
Please boycott Cruise Critic! Share with anyone who cruises or is planning a cruise!

Cruise line censorship!
January 7th, 2023
• Previous review

CruiseCritic is paid by the various cruise lines to "censor" the boards on their website. Any time the topic start getting traction with truth and evidence, that cruise line has them shut the board down in an attempt to silence the rising voice. Can't wait for the day to come when they get sued and hung out to dry for their actions!

Cruise Critic should be banned from the media. These hypocrites advertise and recommend cruises on their web sight. But if you recommend sights for consumer to read in order to chose a cruise they censor and banned you from their web sight. These hypocrites must be banned and penalized for their illegal actions.

I would not advise taking this site seriously. I spent hours writing an extensive review of Star Clippers, for a cruise I had paid in full and spent months researching and preparing for.

The company bilked me by overbooking its second cruise in 20 months. It used the pretext that I couldn't provide proof a PCR test, even though they did an antigenic Covid test then and there. Star Clippers ostensibly "required" the first test, even though its policy (in fine print, in one of three long attachments sent by email) is not in alignment with that of the EU or for that matter, other cruise lines.

Cruisecritic refused to upload my review onto their site, saying that since I had not actually sailed on the Star Clipper--even though I (1) had had months of customer interaction with them by phone and by email and (2) had paid close to $4,000.

I was stranded in France for the next 12 days and had to shell out close to another $4,000, which the cruise had covered. In fact, I flew to Corsica ($500) to meet up with the cruise, the day after embarkation. The company gave me the wrong port of call, so I wasn't unable to join the cruise. Then I had to pay for hotels, food, etc. which had been already been paid for (the cruise).

I have no way of proving that cruisecritic.com is in cahoots with Star Clippers but it sure seems that way. There is no logical reason (other than fealty to the cruise line or a kick-back) for them not to allow me to tell my real-life story!

Now I understand why I receive weekly cruise offers via cruisecritic.com: they get paid by the cruise lines to find/solicit/attract customers. No wonder they don't want to risk offending the very people upon whom they depend for their bread and butter.

Let me start by saying I am retired and do not own a business or websites. I posted on Cruise Critic a website that I highly recommend for all cruisers pertaining to the cruise industry. The website is cruisetruth.com. I received notice from Cruise Critic they where removing my post. Again I don't own a business or website. I was trying to help fellow cruisers to this website for a better understanding of cruise industry. Why does Cruise Critic advertise cruise deals? Does Cruise Critic get kickback from the cruise lines or just free advertisement for the cruise lines? Cruise Critic is bias if anyone tries to help other cruisers find other websites that would help cruisers make a intelligent decision on what cruise line to book. Cruise Critic should inform the many cruisers they are bias in choosing what cruise line to book.

We booked uniworld from Budapest to Amsterdam. We flew into Amsterdam on 8-29-22 then flew to Budepest and stayed at a beautiful hotel due to the water being low. We took a 3 hr bus ride to Vienna for a short tour then to meet the boat. The boat was beautiful the staff wonderful you were definitely spoiled. We traveled a day 1/2 on the water and could not move. We were in Paussa for about 5 days. They would take us to a few different cities by bus. We ended up at the Sheraton in Frankfurt was not a 5 star then to the Hilton in Amsterdam. We did not sign up for a bus tour we would like compensation of some kind Uniworld says they met their obligations. So I would not suggest uniworld to anyone, their are other all inclusive river cruise out there.

Basically, you have fans of certain lines, which is fine. I'm quite biased for a few of them myself. There are a few moderators who are very biased for certain posters & will remove ANY challenges to those posters. There was an anti Oceania poster who made nasty remarks about the "Tea Service" on a particular Oceania ship(one we've been on a few times) I stated "I find it hard to take your statement seriously, when you can't even spell
"Mille-feuill" correctly." Now do YOU think that statement is really nasty? This Mod goes by the name of Michell(i don't know if this is a guy or woman)Needless to say I was banned for a week from the site. Myself & others have had these continuous run ins with this person. It's gotten to the point that this site is no longer an enjoyable site. I find nasty remarks made against me are frequently allowed to stay posted. I have demanded they remove them & sometimes they do & sometimes they don't. Seems theses moderators certainly have their friends & protect them all the time. Thee are other sites to go to, which is what I'm going to do, but I feel this review should help warn others to boycott this site until actual freedom of opinion is allowed.

I need a green the travel agency that sold us our cruise misrepresented the product by selling as a beverage package which was all inclusive and guaranteeing that the final price we paid included everything however NCL charged us another $82 per person for additional tips at the end of the cruise

If you want honest information, Cruise Critic should NOT be your go to source. I asked a simple question on their forum, and was told a bunch of lies, and then the topic was heavily moderated for no reason... and then the entire thread juts vanished once someone DID answer the question honestly.

The moderators are VERY BIASED, as someone else said. Try it yourself and you will see. There are much better places to go for cruise info where you can get honest answers.

Cruise Critic is apparently all about one thing... Making money for agents.

It's actually very discouraging to see how travel agents operate. I am sure there are honest ones out there, but places like Cruise Critic give the entire industry a bad name... Made me NOT want to get a travel agent at all, and just navigate by myself.

Cruise Critic is like a modern day snake oil salesman!

We had the moderator freeze our ability to post because someone complained they did not like our post regarding a very bad experience we had on a whale watching tour with some loud mouthed red hat wearing jerks who tried to pick a fight with someone on the crew who objected to the their maga hats, crew member was just trying to avoid trouble, (we could have cared less). Totally unfair, would not respond to our communications, we ended up cancelling the cruise because we could not coordinate with other cruise passengers re: tours.

I just went through dozens of reviews published by Cruise Critic. They do not include a single top ten for Norwegian Cruise line. I don't know why that is, but I suspect that the reviews that are published are potentially subsidized by the cruise liens that are included in the top 10's.

@deluxecruises STEVE PORTER is a thief! Asking directly to REGENT cruises as I had doubts on the amount asked by Mr Porter we realised that he had made us pay for pre and post cruise program & hotels included in the cruise fare! He asked us to wire him directly on his bank account and not to Regent! More than 4000 USD! After sending proof given *******@regentcruises that he had cheated on us: NO more *******@deluxecruises are crooks!
