Everything has been clearly laid out. Communication is clear and efficient. Teachers, for the most part, have been accessible for questions and concerns. Flexible with times as my daughter goes to horse shows, as long as she puts in the effort, fair grades are given. And she will be graduating in December!
Connections Academy is the best online school choice. I have been a learning coach with Connections Academy for 5 years and my children absolutely love it. All the same joys of public school in the comforts of your own home. Easy to navigate website, extremely helpful staff and teachers. This program has wonderful tools and tips for parents and children to make learning fun and easy. I truly recommend Connections Academy to any family who is looking for online learning as a schooling option. My family and I are looking forward to many more years of learning fun with Connections Academy.
My children attended Connections Academy and online school. We were hesitant at first but we are happy we made the decision to enroll them. The teachers were great, they taught our kids an education not the nonsense that is being forced in public schools. The communication was outstanding, that is so important for children. And yes, they listen to parents!
We are so happy to hear that deciding to enroll your kids at Nevada Connections Academy was a good choice for your family, Dorothy! Our teachers are the cornerstone of our schools, and we're so glad to hear that they were great with your students. ~Alexis
We were hesitant at first to enroll in this school, but we decided to give it a try. In fact, we were shocked by the amount of organization and attention on the part of the administrators and teachers, who provided us with the necessary assistance. My child now had enough time to learn and be disciplined with school schedules. Which made his life much easier. The program is easy to use and there are continuous trainings for parents, which makes the work easy, and that will help the students to achieve their goals. Thanks to everyone who participated to create this amazing school program.
We're thrilled to hear that we've exceeded your expectations, Hadda! We hope you have an amazing rest of the school year! ~Alexis
The best part of Connection Academy by far are some of the teachers, one in particular is Scott Collins.my son is a student of his.
You could not ask for a better teacher to work with your child he just makes it easy. The kids love him and he is an overall amazing person. If it wasn't for Scott I don't know how things would be for my child that faces some speech challenges. I am so glad we've had the opportunity to work with Scott. I'm so grateful and appreciative.
Thank you for your kind words, Patty! We're so happy to hear that Mr. Collins has had such a positive impact on your student's education. ~Alexis
My student is in 9th grade right now. He has trouble focusing and without connections Academy I don't think he would have stayed with his own age/grade range. The curriculum is sometimes a bit in depth, but for the most part, it is definitely doable. I also like the flexibility it gives with time to get lessons finished and being able to finish lessons ahead of time when needed. They also give plenty of time to catch up on overdue lessons.
We love that your student is thriving with Connections Academy, Jennifer! Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
We decided to have my son attend Connections Academy his junior year for the flexible schedule. My son up to that point had a 4.0 GPA. At the end of the first semester my son had earned all A's but his GPA dropped since grades of 90-92 are considered an A- at Connections and is not awarded the full 4 points toward the GPA. Could not recover the lost points and ruined a few scholarship opportunities. We transferred out his senior year so not to be penalized further.
From before school started to right this very moment my experience with Maine Connections Academy has been excellent. The communication between staff and student as well as staff and parent/caretaker is extraordinary. I've NEVER been so informed before, from absences to information on my child's work and grades. I am impressed about the fact that I have to submit work and attendance is also reported by the parent. Every step of the process is amazing. Our counselor and teachers are great, informative and caring.
We're so happy to hear that you feel informed at Maine Connections Academy, Faylene! Thank you for your review! ~Alexis
Alabama Connections Academy has a great staff to assist both learning coaches and students. It is great to have easy access to the essentials (i.e. Digital text books, graph paper, etc.) on-line and printable.
We love that you love the easy access to online and printable materials, Patricia. And we're especially happy to hear that you've had a good experience with the staff. Thanks for the review! ~Alexis
The last 2 years have been great with Connections Academy! The flexibility of the schedule and amazing lesson plans have streamlined our school experience. I appreciate all of the teachers taking an active role in helping my children.
Hi Megan, We appreciate your review! We're happy to hear that your family is taking advantage of our flexible schooling options! ~Alexis
I am so disappointed in CA-I thought this would be a great alternative for my son. My son is 14 and in middle school, the social piece is where he struggled academically he did great in regular public school. Connections Academy is only concerned with you completing 6 assignments a day-they do not care if you master them and understand. This is not the way to learn, this is just a school that is trying to meet requirements-if you choice to go on a field trip you will get very far behind-so not worth going. I would not recommend this program to anyone. School is about learning and getting excited about learning-this is pure stress and in time this school will get so many bad reviews and the retention rate will be very low it will close down- this school is only for the child who is a robot and can work at lightening speed. Please Mr Goldberg our superintendent in MA you can do better than this!
Wow, I'm kinda blown away by the negative comments. I have nothing but positive things to say, from the registration up til the current point in the semester. We're in California, so maybe other states aren't as great but my daughters teachers are fantastic, e-mail quickly, and if I'm ever stuck or not sure about something, I'm sent helpful links. My girls are thriving, and I couldn't be happier. I've been a mom for 16 years now so I'd like to think my experience is somewhat credible. Their grades speak for themselves.
My son has been with this on-line school since Junior High, he is about to graduate High School this week. I'm very pleased with the education he received, the communication between the school and my family. The staff are very helpful and all the resources such as science, art items and books that he needed were provided. It took him a few months to get used to working on-line but once he got the hang of it he loved it and never even considered returning to a bricks and mortar school. He loves the flexibility of being able to work ahead in subjects and to work when it is more convenient for him as he's a night owl. He never missed a school day for an appointment and as he was home I knew he was eating healthy. A really great on-line school.
Congratulations to you and your graduate! We are honored that you entrusted us with your son’s education, and we wish him the best! ~Kim
I have an autistic son. Though high functioning he struggles. I can't tell you what a relief it was to connect with Conections academy! They have been so helpful and understanding every step of the way. I can not wait for him to start there come January!
Hi Jennifer, We are thrilled to hear that you have had such a positive experience so far. We hope your son has an incredible second semester with us! ~Alexis
Glad to have an alternate learning platform for my teenager who will graduate next year and has been on track since withdrawing from public school in 2021. This includes failed classes with the negative results we all endured from Covid. Due to hard work, dedication and discipline she made the honor roll and I could not be more pleased.
Hi Stephanie, Wow! Going from withdrawing from her local school to being an honor roll student is a huge accomplishment. We're proud of your student! ~Alexis
This school had provided my child the best education opportunity she can get in a homeschooling environment with professional teachers and staff highly recommended for someone with health problems like my child
We're proud to be able to offer an education option that allows your student to reach their full potential, Sorina! ~Alexis
Our family has had a lot going on, just like everyone else has. The Teachers, Principal, Vice Principal, Counselors, everyone helped. They understood, stayed interested in my student's well being, communicated, and always, always did what was truly in everyone's best interest, all of them care, everyday.
Really great team, I appreciate them very much.
Thank you for your kind words, Carrie. We know that when parents, teachers and staff work together, students benefit. It's good to hear that your family has felt well-supported on your journey. ~Kim
I currently attends this school! The teachers are fantastic and always respond within minutes! All these bad reviews are crap! NOT a school for someone who thinks that since theyre at home they just dont have school!
This school has zero tools for the "learning coach" but if your child is failing it's entirely your fault according to their educators. You cannot limit the assignments your child has access to, you cannot send assignments back to your child to look at them again before submission, and once submitted the assignment can't be reset. Essentially if your child for whatever reason decides to blow through all the assignments in one night there is nothing you can do and nothing the school will do but fail them. I was told having three children in this program would be just fine as the school is the same as brick and mortar. Now I'm being told It's my fault because I'm the primary educator. There's a reason most of these reviews are negative. Do not put your child in this school.
Hi Justin, Although we strongly recommend that students have a dedicated Learning Coach who takes an active role in their students' learning, your students' teachers are their primary educators. I'm very sorry that you haven't felt that way, and I'd like to put you in touch with someone at the school who can help. Please send me an email at community@connectionsacademy.com and provide the email address you used to create your account or the first and last name of your students so I can access your account and have someone reach out to address your concerns. ~Alexis
These teachers started these kids with over 100 plus assignments past due. They were working day and night with unrealistic expectations, no social life, anxiety, those in sports had no time for sports, etc. They screwed up a whole year for my child. I'm pissed about it! Furthermore, they had untimely feedback, placed temporary zeros for those they said were hiding in the program. Yet every one else pays. Then in the end they give them a low balled grade they don't deserve. Having a masters and in being a doctoral program I know the quality of my child's work I was there side by side as a learning coach assisting. So I know their grading is full of bologna. They had all these kids on Improvement contracts for the assignments they placed them behind. It seemed racially targeted. They messed up her GPA. They will not see the last of this complaint! More parents need to complain. They shouldn't be getting paid to screw up our kids future when they are supposed to help pave the way.
Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week.
