We absolutely LOVE Alabama Connections! Everyone has been Amazing through this whole 1st Year. The Teachers are Amazing. They have helped my kids with anything & everything that they need help with. Even one on one if needed. It has been 1 AMAZING Year. We look Forward to many more Years with Alabama Connections.
The teachers are very helpful when there's a problem with the child the do call or email to help them my. My child is doing very well better than puplic school. The school provides everything love it would recommend to anyone with children
Thank you for the kind words, Tammy! We're glad to hear your student is doing well at our school! ~Alexis
I enrolled my my son, because of his anxiety problems. The teachers, are no help. Some of the courses are useless. The portfolio projects, are difficult for kids. I had the principle assign my son to detention on a Saturday, she stated his homeroom teacher was not able to get in contact with him. Meanwhile, he had already spoken to her. I had to email the principle, because she was trying to take his detention a step further and have him come in to the school. These people are horrible. If they think you are not doing the work, they will go in a change the attendance that you the parent put in to 0. Avoid if possible.
I have two kids (7th grade and 12th grade), both have only done Minnesota Connections Academy for their education. I highly recommend this school! My son is graduating this year, and he will start college as a junior this fall because he did PSEO the last two years. He was more than prepared for college because of his educations with Connections. My daughter loves the flexibility and being able to learn at hew own pace.
Hi Cate, This is great! We're thrilled to hear that your son has been able to set himself up for success with Minnesota Connections Academy and that your daughter can learn at her own pace! Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
My daughter was having a really hard time returning to school after Covid. The anxiety was too much for her. Enrolling her in to this school was the best decision we made. The teachers are amazing and work with her.
We're sorry to hear that your daughter was having a hard time with her local school after Covid, but we're glad that we've been able to provide an education option that allows her to learn safely from home! Thank you for sharing, Tanya. ~Alexis
This was our first year with Texas Connections Academy and I am so glad we made the decision to transfer my son to this program. My son should be a Junior but he failed the 9th grade but when COVID came during his repeat year we realized online school was his thing. So when it came time to send him back in person, it was not a good option for him. We also discovered he was being bullied because he is a Male All-star Cheerleader. He is thriving in the homeschool environment. The teachers stay in constant contact with both my son and myself. Communication is amazing! My son finds the courses are appropriate and able to be understood. If he has questions or needs assistance with an assignment he can always get ahold of a teacher. My Daughter is in Middle school now but in another year she will start HS. Already considering transferring her to this program as I am not impressed with the high schools in our area. Highly recommend TX Connections Academy!
We're glad you discovered that your son works well in an online environment and we're delighted that he's getting the support and encouragement he needs. Wishing him continued success in school and with cheerleading! ~Kim
Both of my children started OCA Fall 2020 due to the pandemic. I was concerned they would fall behind in their academics due to the pandemic and switched to OCA due to this and safety. I have been pleasantly surprised at just how much we like OCA! The teachers have been so supportive, lots of additional learning opportunities, clubs kids can be a part of, the classes challenge my children and they have grown so much with their learning this year! We love OCA and how much it is preparing our children for their futures.
We’re glad you found us this year, and it’s great to hear that your children are thriving here. ~Kim
It was overall amazing. I went here for 6th grade and now for 7th. I love how the teachers are very helpful, and want to help. I also liked that you could do the work at your own pace. I am very very happy with this school. Before I went here, I was very stressed with public school. Now I'm so happy!
This is my daughter first year with connexus. She's in 10th grade. At first I was kind of scared because since my daughter would be working on her own. But than I saw how easy my daughter got everything and how quick all the teachers would answer her questions.and the teachers are great. If your child feels lonely, or have trouble on a homework. The teachers are quick to help. Plus is safe specially everything that's going around the world my child is safe at home and learning. And I'm able to check her grades and talk to the teachers if I have a problem. I do recommend this online classes.
Hi Angela. This is so good to see! We love hearing that your daughter is thriving in our school. Thank you for sharing your experience. ~Kim
My son entered Tecca in 5th and has improved each semester, largely in part to Tecca. Their teachers are amazing, the adjustable schedule is a life saver and we are now enrolled for next year. 7th grade. It has improved greatly within the last year and continues to strive for excellence. Can't wait to see what's next!
My son struggles with migraines. We transitioned over to LCCA from traditional school. He wasn't doing well and missing school due to illness. Currently is passing all his classes with nothing lower than a B/C. Mrs.Mealing has been more than patient and truly cares so much about her kiddos.
We're sorry to hear that your son struggles with migraines, Leah, but we're so happy to hear that he's been doing so well at Lowcountry Connections Academy! ~Alexis
So for the last 3 and a half weeks I have been waiting on OCC to process documents to get my student started. Just 2 days ago they called me to verify my students schedule and what classes they would be taking. Well today I called back to get an official date to start and they tell me they have been waitlisted. Waitlisted after I just wasted nearly a month of back and forth with them for someone to finally tell me they cant even go here!?
What a giant joke! And also dont even think about calling this school. The first time I called I was hung up on after waiting for nearly an hour on the phone. Then a day later I called and I was called 75 in line. I finally hung up!
Find a different school this one is crap.
Hello Ashley. I’m so sorry we’ve been unable to offer your student a spot. Our school is at capacity following an influx of interest as families shifted their plans for fall semester. The spike in applications also impacted our application processing time and led to long call wait times for some families. If you’d like me to review your account, please send me an email at community@connectionsacademy.com. I’d be happy to do that. ~Kim
This coming school year will be my student's 3rd year. We decided to continue as we can see the learning pace is good for our student as long as your student will cooperate and follow instructions the students can learn the high standard of education as for my opinion.
*The FLEXIBILITY of the schedule which helps us a lot being a working parents and assisting our student.
*The SAFETY from going to a physical school to be potentially victimized by bullies.
We were concerned about the social interaction of our students before but the school also provides opportunities to interact with fellow students virtually and it's not just school that we can get our students to have social activities but church and other social gatherings out from school.
So we're confident about this school since the teachers work so hard for the sake of the students. Thank you so much FCA teachers and Admin. We do appreciate you…!
Hi Delia, We love that you're able to supplement the socialization opportunities that FCA provides with your church. Thank you for sharing your review and we hope your student finishes out this school year strong! ~Alexis
The math lessons are awful. They are very vague and even if the topic is simple, they find a way to make it difficult. The teachers take a long time to respond to webmails. By the time they respond to a question your child has, they will already be behind. The live lessons are usually irrelevant to the lessons. The lessons do not teach you everything that must be done in the assignments. This goes for most of the classes, including the electives. If your child needs help and you can't help them, they are going to get bad grades. You are better off learning the material off of Google.
The process of enrolling is a joke u make people take ur classes just to sent a email at night then and then say sence u didnt respond u have to wait on thee waiting list after all the BS they didnt even let her in u got my childs hopes up just to throw her on a waiting list
Hi Brandy, We always aim to be as transparent as possible during enrolllment and I'm sorry if that wasn't your experience. Many of our schools fill up quickly so we have to have waiting lists so they are not oversubscribed. If you would like us to have a Family Enrollment Counselor reach out to offer assistance, please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com. Thank you. ~Alexis
We love Connections. We especially love Mrs. Luper. We were fortunate enough to have her for 3rd and for homeroom for 4th. All the teachers are wonderful too though.
Thank you for your kind words, Christa! We're thrilled to hear that our teachers have had such a positive impact on your family. ~Alexis
This completes our 2nd year at LCA. We love having the flexibility of when & where our student can work on his lessons. Teachers have been awesome and work with our schedule. The curriculum is well-rounded and we love that we can see everything our son is being taught & by whom.
Thank you LCA
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Linda. It's so good to hear that your family is benefitting from the flexibility and is having a great experience with your son's teachers and the curriculum. We hope your son has a great finish to the semester and a relaxing summer ahead! ~Kim
My son joined Tecca 4 yrs ago in the 6th grade. He had focusing issues and had trouble sitting for hours at a time. With Tecca he can be in his room, in the car, at an appt he has the luxury to do his homework and tests on his own time. If he needs a break after a live lesson her can take it, then start work back up. With all the school shootings and issues with the pandemic it provides a safe environment, where better than home? The teachers also follow the students progress and work and make sure they are doing their work. Also, Tecca offers field trips, sports, dances etc same as going to regular school would provide. We are thankful to Tecca my son can now work at his pace and still graduate in a safe environment. Thank you Tecca and the teachers who are always there to help answer our questions. Thank you Tabris.
Hi Timothy, We are happy to hear that we have been able to provide your son with a safe learning environment for so many years. We are also glad to hear that he is taking advantage of having a flexible schedule and completing his schoolwork where it works for him! ~Alexis
I've uploaded paperwork to them multiple times & somehow it's been lost. How? When I call there is always a 20-30 min wait. They have enrollment tasks divided into small portions and the people who answer the phones can't see the documents or answer questions. So, you end up waiting to speak to individual teams. They can answer only one part of the question & then transfer you to someone else. Seriously? If it weren't for covid, I'd switch to another online provider bc their enrollment system is a complete and utter mess. I'm very scared that the when we attempt to upload school work, it will be lost and that the education is going to be sub-par, confused, and just as much of a nightmare.
My daughter loves Connections Academy! My daughter started Connections this year and has done better than ever in brick-and-mortar. She was an A student in 2nd grade and then suddenly she was failing. I transferred her to Connections Academy and she got on the A and B Honor Roll and managed to get back to her A student status none of that could have been possible without Connections Academy! I love that her teacher checks in with her when she seems to be letting her mind wander and I appreciate that the lessons can be done anytime. I love that my kid is excelling in this school and hope she continues to do so.
We hope your daughter continues to excel with us too, Danielle! Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week. For information specific to the school(s) in your state, please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com. Thanks! ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Monique, Many students with special needs thrive in online school. Can you please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com so we can connect you with the Special Education team in your state and also provide you with additional eligibility information about the school(s) in your state? Thank you! ~Alexis
We're so happy to hear you've had such a great first year at Alabama Connections Academy, Robin! We hope your students continue to thrive with us! ~Alexis
