If you get a positive result, you have to do a colonoscopy anyway, but in this case it's now billed as "diagnostic " for your insurance instead of preventive screening.
Our insurance covers preventing screening not diagnostic. So $2k outta pocket
Beware! Cologuard is in bed with the insurance companies
Husband got a positive test. Had colonoscopy, yes he had polyps, many of them, but they were all benign, not even pre cancerous. The waiting for true results was nerve wracking. Skip this nonsense and just get a colonoscopy. Cologard is a waste of time.
The Color Guard test is nasty and embarrassing.
The test should come in an plain wrapped box, not the advertised for the world to see. When you have to return it every one in the store sees and knows what it is. If Medicare insist on people taking it, it shouldn't be embarrassing to do.
So I've been having symptoms and colon cancer is in my family. In fact it's first degree. My doctor talk me into cologuard and I said ok. For almost a month I waited for cologuard to ship it to me but they never did. I called only to find out I didn't even exist in their system. My doctor faxed the order 4 more times. After three weeks I find out they got the order but because I'm under 50 my insurance won't pay for it. Doesn't matter first degree of cancer they still won't pay it. So I agreed to make payments. Cologuard is 649 dollars! They won't send it to you unless you pay for it right then. So I finally just told them forget it. I don't have that kind of money just laying around. This probably isn't a big deal to someone that has money but it's a big deal to me. Can't believe I wasted a whole month jumping through hoops only to find out my insurance doesn't cover it and they won't send it unless I pay it all right now. Ridiculous!
Attempted Cologuard this round as scheduling someone to pick me up from a colonoscopy can be difficult. I pooped in their box and returned it as per their instructions. After not hearing anything for around six months, I followed up and my doctor's office had to make several calls to learn that Cologuard rejected my sample because they "considered it too large." There was no communication to share that information and still, they had the balls to try to charge my insurance.
What absolute BS, you have to pay a doctor to recommend the test. Why? No reason, just drawing more money to the medical business that's the only explanation. Absolutely no reason a prescription would be needed for this test other than sponging more money to the medical profession... You think this is the end? Nope, once you get the test they will come up with reasons to have additional test, depending on what your insurance will cover. That's what it is about...
I was prescribed a Cologuard test at age 49. It came back positive. I was sent fir a colonoscopy at Harrisburg Endosopy. After the doctor who did the procedure gave me my results, which were fine...nothing found, he also said that 90% of the patients he gets from positive cologuard tests, find nothing during the colonoscopy.
To top it off...my insurance won't cover this "additional screening" because the cologuard test is the free screening. Now I have a bill of $870. How effective is this test if 90% at one doctor come back with no issues?.? It's a scam!
My test showed positive, worried to death about results had to go through colonoscopy anyway and it was normal---my insurance paid for this test but my colonoscopy would not be paid at 100% because it came back as positive on cologuard----wished i had read all the reviews before i did this
Three years ago I took my last Cologuard, 4 months ago I started bleeding and my movements were not normal. After a colonoscopy a tumor was discovered, Stage 3 Colon Cancer.
Seems Cologuard only detects actual cancer, not polyps which can turn into cancer. When my Colon Cancer doctor saw I had had that test, he just shook his head.
Every time I see their TV commercials, well one can imagine my thoughts!
Word to the wise! Do NOT do Cologuard! A few months ago I did it at my physician's request. I got a call from my doctor saying I had a positive result and needed a colonoscopy. I have been a complete wreck for two months. I probably drove my husband insane. I went today and got a colonoscopy and I am free and clear for 10 more years. I wish I would've read the reviews before I did it because they are terrible. I'm going to live! Do yourself a favor and just get the real thing and save yourself the stress. Money making scammers!
Just get a colonoscopy, you get the results right away. With that "convenient but useless" test I waited 2 weeks to get the results. Whereas a colonoscopy gives you the results right away and the Gastroenterologist explains to you the results and follows up with you. With regard to Cologuard the results are far away to be exact and, if, they come out positive you get the news from your GP's receptionist without ethics. The you will have to make an appointment for a colonoscopy …. It is a total waste of money for Social Security, and it may create a great deal of stress in the patient.
All this test is good for is a scare tactic, whether it be a positive or negative it could be false, the only good thing is it'll scare you to have a colonoscopy to find out what the real story is. Save yourself time, grief and money and just have a colonoscopy. You're sedated, it's painless, and it's the only accurate way to know the state of your colon.
Wanted to write this review because the reviews on this site were so helpful. I too took a Cologuard test and it came out positive. But after reading all these reviews I felt a whole lot better. Had my Colonoscopy today and it was negative. So I would recommend to anyone NOT to take a Cologuard. Test. The doctor giving me my colonoscopy had said to me that they are totally unreliable. It is not worth the money or the aggravation and the worry it can bring on. Just go get your colonoscopy!
So I decided to use this. Quick, ez. While their claim of detecting about 92% of positives, what they DON'T say is that 90+% are false positives! I verified this 3x.
Only up side, my false positive prompted me to geta REAL test!
Look, this test worked. I cannot deny it and I'm thankful. But…. Don't be lazy. Especially if this is your first ever colonoscopy test. The problem I have is time to correct. The test, time to review and getting the results is 2-3 weeks you just wasted.
Let's say you test positive for cancer cells on the test. Now you have to talk to your Dr, get insurance approval and have to have a Colonoscopy anyway so as much as I appreciate the work Cologuard put forth to find the Cancer results, take the time to do it right at age 48-50 at latest and get a full colonoscopy not just cologuard. A full colonoscopy can save your life. My wife wanted to do cologuard cause she thought all would be normal…. Now we have to deal with a peach sized tumor and hope for the best.
When using Cologuard as a preventive method instead of Colonoscopy it is certain that if the result is positive and you need a colonoscopy for sure, this colonoscopy will not be covered by insurance and must be paid in full by the insured. Insurance only covers preventive tests and does not diagnose them.
First of all this test is ridiculous. You can't poop too much because they don't put enough fixative in there. I ask you, how can one regulate and measure the size of their dump before pooping in a bucket?
That's what happened to me. I didn't even poop that much, but they told me just today, that I had to resend my sample. I was told that they could send me a new kit and if I poop too much, I could rinse that container out, let it dry and try again?!? I said hell no! I'm not gonna poop in a bucket or pinch it off to get the right size dump. What a fiasco. I wonder how little old people can do this? I'm sure that they can't! You can take your take your test and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. They had better not charge my insurance for that. And, I would have loved to add photos of the size of my dump in that bucket for reference!
I got this and my insurance refused to cover it. It was expensive and gave me no information and I had to get a colonoscopy anyway that I had to pay for because of the cologuard. Before you do it research it cause if it gives a false test the insurance won't see it as preventative. I ended up paying out over 3000 dollars before it was done. Just get a colonoscopy and be done
These people are worse than used car salesmen! 3-5 emails AND texts per day- even after opting out of both. Returned the kit unopened & now I'm getting notices I need to redo my sample as there was an error with my sample. I NEVER OPENED THE BOX! God help you if you agree to the "free", easy return, insurance covered cologuard. Was only going to cost me $698 WITH my insurance! No thank you!
After multiple blocks for cologuard I received the kit.
No, no, no,no. My insurance company and doctors have been alerted by me.
I wouldn't consider this as a screening option for sure, I won't pay. Scam, scam. Scam.
Answer: Feel the same way, I am going to end up paying with my life! Thanks Colonguard!
