I couldn't believe how realistic the artist's rendition of the challenge coin was when I submitted my ideas. I got the first draft and had some design changes, and the artist had the new coin design back to me within a couple of hours. There was absolutely no difference between the artist's drawing, and the actual coin.

The customer reps were excellent. The design process was good, but they could have paid a little closer to the colors and specs I provided and then we would have had fewer proofs back-and-forth. I had to be pretty firm about the colors since they didn't use all of the colors I listed on my draft for the first couple proofs. I appreciate that they get final approval from the USAF licensing office before going to production. The quality of the finished product was excellent in detail and color representation (I had some very tiny details on my coin). The finish of the metal was just adequate. The overall finish was antique silver, but the cut on the edge of the coin turned that part shiny and it held fingerprints pretty badly. It looks like they handled the coins without gloves. I tried to polish the rims, but it didn't help. They seem to be lacking a final cleaning/polishing stage before placing the coins in the holders. Other coins I have received (as gifts/awards made by other vendors) have been cleaner. There were minor tooling marks on about 10% of the coins, but none of them were bad enough to bother with a return. Overall I am pleased as the level of detail of the work was good enough that I overlooked the other items. Oh, they also place a small card about the company in every single coin sleeve. So I spent 2 hours after I got them removing these from the sleeves and inspecting each coin. I would probably use them again, but try to get a finish that doesn't hold fingerprints next time. The prices were very reasonable.
