I had 2 experiences with CarShield at different times and both experiences were handled perfectly. The customer service staff is very professional and courteous and patient and they answer all your questions. The first repair was for transmission related issues which they approved in a very short period of time. The work was done at the dealership and even they remarked as to how easy it was for them to deal with the employees at CarShield and I agreed.

I purchased the Powertrain Gold policy almost two years ago. This month I had my first opportunity to use my Car Shield policy when my 2007 Nissan Frontier check engine light came on and the vehicle just shut down while my daughter was driving it. First, because she was in the county just north of ours, I had to pay the tow truck driver $120 to tow my vehicle to our county. Then I get a call a few days later from my mechanic and he said it was the crankshaft position sensor that went out and that Car Shield would not pay for the repair because that specific part was not covered. After paying out over $3800 over the past 22 months, I ended up having to pay for the repair myself at a cost of $355. I would strongly recommend that others who have Car Shield, be warned! This company obviously looks for any reason to deny a repair claim! If I would have just put the $174 a month I was paying to Car Shield, I would have had almost $4000 available for any repairs needed. It's a gimmick! Don't waste your hard earned money! Such a shame! Without the sensor, the engine will not run. Tell me, how is that not covered? See what I mean?

After discovering a potential problem with the AC compressor control system in my 2017 Dodge Durango, I took the car to the local Dodge dealer for analysis. The humidity sensor was not functioning allowing the AC compressor to run continuously, reducing my fuel economy and shortening the compressor life. The part cost about $160 + labor to install. The Car Shield did NOT include sensors in the air conditioning parts list, despite other sensors in the car being covered. The 2nd problem was the radiator was leaking a very small amount of coolant. I never saw any liquid under the car, but the radiator needed to be replaced, This part was covered BUT Car Shield required the dealer to use an OEM part, which Car shield shipped, rather than a MOPAR radiator the dealer had in stock This was to save money. When Car shield shipped the part, it was the wrong part and would not fit. Apparently Car Shield could not locate the correct so they finally agreed to allow the deal to install the MOPAR unit. I bought the top of the line best contract Car Shield and, apparently misunderstood, that even this contract had loopholes and uncovered parts. Prior the Car Shield I had previously been covered by a MOPAR service contract. In the 5 major claims I had under the MOPAR contract, EVERYTHING was covered except for the $100 deductible The Car Shield contract was costing me $1536 / yr compared to the MOPAR contract the cost me $ 2800 for 5 yrs total. Not only was the claims experience disappointing, I was paying 3 times more. Not a good value in my opinion.

Call me crazy but paying for a service today that doesn't cover you tomorrow is a bit of a disapointment, let alone 90 days. I understand the waiting period but also there should be milage playing a factor into those 90 days. I just drove from Illinois to Tennessee and back a total of 500 miles. That kind of proves there is no issues with the vehicle.
