Available in more than 20 countries, Care.com is the world’s leading platform for finding and managing high-quality family care. Care.com is designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s families and caregivers, offering everything from household tax and payroll services and customized corporate benefits packages covering the care needs of working families, to innovating new ways for caregivers to be paid and obtain professional benefits.
The company generally receives positive feedback for its reliable service providers and the ease of finding suitable candidates for various needs, such as pet care and housekeeping. Customers appreciate the professionalism and attentiveness of the service providers, which enhances their overall satisfaction. However, there are notable concerns regarding service reliability, with several reports of no-shows and difficulties in communication with applicants. Additionally, issues with the website's functionality and billing practices have frustrated users. Overall, while the service shows potential, improvements in communication and reliability are essential for enhancing customer experience.

The business is highly questionable. The auto renewal policy is nothing but a way to steal money from people. You will not be notified of any charges. The customer service? Well, they never respond to any negative comments or grievances, once they have your money they have nothing to do with your well being. They send fake certificates and cheap gift cards to up the value of their $#*!ty box. And the no returns and no cancellation is cherry on top.
I signed up a year ago to try to find a babysitter for my 2-year-old, as we were brand new to the area and didn't have anywhere else to turn at the time. I signed up for a 3-month subscription and paid with credit card. I was overwhelmed by the number of applications I received for my posted job, and after doing a few interviews with potential babysitters, realized I needed to find a referral from someone I knew because I did not trust anyone I was meeting. I never got on the website again, assuming my membership would just expire and I'd be done with it. However, I just checked my credit card statement, and I have been continually charged for the past year, even though I was not using the website. I was not informed that my subscription would be renewed like this- via US mail or email. I have heard NOTHING from care.com since I signed up over a year ago. It's my fault, since I haven't been looking closely at my credit card statements to notice that I was billed over and over again, but I'm just very disappointed and feel scammed.
Q: I used a provider from care.com, for pet care and she started skipping on it, so, i terminated her employment. After couple weeks, i posted a reciew about her on care.com and she text me back that if i don't take the review down she will tell her family that I behaved inapproriately with her. She has texted me again and called me names. Need help.
In order to see the real ads or contact any housekeepers or caregivers, you need to sign up for an upgraded membership, otherwise, the ads are just fakes. After you sign up for a membership which is one or three months, they will AUTOMATICALLY renew your membership, WITHOUT NOTIFYING YOU! Is this even legal?
Anyway, of all the 30 or so housekeepers who contacted me, i wrote back to 10, and asked for references. None of them wrote back. I would not recommend this website at all.
They post fake ads everyday. I have applies for over 300 positions and not one response. If you go to indeed and search Nanny, 30 ads come up and all 30 ads say 3 hours ago. I am sure 30 people did not plan to post all their ads at the same time. Use Sittercity, you will get more responses to real ads and not fake ads. I would not recommend care.com to anyone. It is a waste of your time.
I need a job, Been delaying upgrading. On the site. I got an email this morning that new persons/families in Tampa want assistance and I know I am a pretty good worker so about to pay$20 that i cant really afford. So then I read these reviews and wonder can i get in touch with anyone who will give me the oportuntiyt to care for their home and dont use this site wish I could reach someone,
Reviews pretty bad. If it appears to be this bad on reviews, it must be at least close.
Scared so I I am running

When you sign up for a 30 day membership, you think that it expires in 30 days, right? Nope, it's a scam. If you read the VERY SMALL print, you realize that you are actually agreeing to a monthly subscription, for which your credit card will be automatically charged. This practice is actually illegal in some states. When I finally realized how much I was being charged (long after I stopped using the website), they stood by their practice of scamming people and would not reimburse me. Being in the business of childcare, I would assume that being ethical and establishing trust with your customer is a priority. Care.com has failed miserably in this domain. Do not fall victim to this scam!
I have been in contact with an attorney at a consumer protection firm in Chicago. If you signed up via smartphone app and are interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit, please contact me!
I have been registered with care.com for 4 years and am still waiting for work. These people waste your time and energy chasing bogus leads. Not worth the headache! PLUS they allow you to fall prey to scammers who can contact you via phone or e-mail, and the calls will not stop unless you threaten to report the people contacting you. Please, do yourselves a favor and stay away from this site!
I am a CASA worker and part time teacher, I wanted supplemental employment so registered with care.com. The profile was fine and I was accepted and even had an offer of employment. The client requested a backgrcheck and of course i accepted. Then I get on my profile and find my background check came thrpugh, the only negative on there was a year old speeding ticket and they suspended my account saying they would contact me. After a couple of weeks I contacted them and they told me to call their IT Security place to dispute it. Security tells me that they have no idea why care.com has a problem with me and iltell me to contact them again. So i do that and an told there's nothing they can do except call security again to dispute the check. Thwre's nothing on the check to dudpute i freely admit i got a speeding ticket, however courts and school districts are fine with me being responsible for multiple chikdren so i finally get through on the phone to the company by dialing the line for clients instead of a caregiver and am told that any negative mark- even a minor speeding ticket will stop someone from being a caregiver. Even if every background check known to man clears them.
How can you allow what was once a great company to disintegrate into such a mess? I was a long time caregiver and loved your site. Now, it's a total mess. Who the hell is running the show because Sheila Marcelo is clearly asleep at the wheel. That's assuming she's even at the wheel.
Care.com provides no value for the membership fees it charges. They are only concerned with generating revenue and do not invest any of that revenue in providing an actual service to customers.
I do not want to be associated with care.com at all anymore. I have had too many people try to scam me. This is ridiculous. I wish I had never signed up and put my phone number out there. In fact, I never remember giving any permission for my personal phone number to be out there, I thought they were supposed to contact me through care.com. Now I am getting texts constantly and really think that whole care.com company is a huge joke! They should not be allowed to advertise anywhere, especially on television where someone might actually believe they are a safe website.
I was just about to sign on but the reviews look pritty bad. Is there another place I can go to that is not a scam? I really need a place of service that offers everything as in care.com
With so many negative comments, I thought I would offer my very positive experience! I've had a profile on care.com for about 3 1/2 years now. Being cautious about sharing too much info, and staying educated and aware of scams, I've had very good results... a steady stream of excellent connections and jobs. My schedule stays as busy as I want and I've received excellent reviews (without ever asking) from the families I've worked with, many of whom I am glad to now call friends.
Thanks care.com.
Nothing but headaches, apparently anyone can post themselves on there, do your OWN background checks. We got a thief, the eternal excuse maker, and one insane stalker person. Never again.
I'm a legit care provider as well as looking for care. I signed up with care.com a few ago posting for jobs. Made some changes based on my area. I paid for my membership. They took my money then terminated my membership. I'm on a budget & need kids so u can have an income coming in.
When I put my phone number on the site, I received a bunch of fake jobs promising to wire me money and such. Even in the care.com site, it tells you to be careful about what you put on the site, and about people contacting you through phone. Ever since I took my phone number off, I no longer get any texts or calls from fake people.
I have been employed several times by people for tutoring, all fair.
Honestly, you just have to be careful what you put online, and you can find honest jobs and honest people that will hire you.
We were scammed 2700. 00. We were there to help a lady with her 6 yr old child. They were going to move to our area. We were supposed to run "errands" for her. They sent us a bogus check. We feel so dumb! Be careful!
I have recently signed up for care.com and applied to several babysitting jobs that fit my schedule and I get contacted by a single mother less than 24 hours I would end up babysitting her child I get excited about the job and then I am minis formed about several things including exact times no rate of pay and the location would have been too far so I end up getting one star on my profile for a reason that's just not fair to me and now there's nothing I can do about it. She never even agreed or sent a message signaling that I'm permanently hired so I really don't think this is fair for me. I am not going to let one review ruin my work ethic and reputation.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
Hi Shakeerah, Care.com does reserve the right to close an account, but we would also refund a subscription that was terminated before the billing cycle ends. If you've not noticed a refund in your bank account, feel free to reach out to Member Care for assistance! You can call 877-227-3115 or email careteam@care.com.
