I have been a Care.com user since the summer of 2013. Care.com was free and I had no problems with the website between the years of 2013-2019. The job descriptions and positions were diversified and nearby to my location. I felt safe and comfortable when meeting the families and checking out their job offerings. However, the Fall of 2019, Care.com deleted my seven year five star account for no apparent reason whatsoever. I wrote to the company directly, yet they dismissed my messages and never once responded. I already had many job opportunities so I didn't take it to heart and still thought highly of the online company.
As of June 2022, I wrote back to Care.com to see if I could once again reopen my account. I stated my case and asked why I was deleted in the first place. It took them about two weeks to upload my account and then another week to respond with no explanation for the deletion. Once restarting my account I paid $4.99 for a month of service and another full two weeks of waiting for a background check. Mind you, I had an active thorough background check via a local social work job that took two days, yet for some reason it still took a full two weeks to complete through Care.com? Once my account was finalized I wrote to an average of 50 people who had job postings on the Care.com website. 2/50 responded with inquiries about job details and were very slow to respond. Mind you, as of recently Care.com judges you on your response time and does not judge the employers on their response time...
After all of the negativity and poor website management I have had a change of heart in regard to Care.com. The Care.com website used to be so good in the sense of reliability and very much helped me while I was getting through school and to pay off bills. Care.com once offered life changing connections that they no longer seem to create through the website. If you choose care, be careful about this website. They may decide to randomly delete your top rated profile and not any provide online tech support. Care.com may offer you job positions for a cost when it used to be free. If you are serious about being a nanny my suggestion would be to look into your local Facebook childcare needs where you will have a free platform with many more active job positions.
The website is good, but I don't like that it opens a new tab every time I click to see a profile.

I wish I could call someone to see how this works first! But I went ahead and set it up any way!
I just paid a lot of money to use the site. It will not allow me to send messages after 3 messages
I have reached out to this member to resolve the issue, but have not heard back. Additional help can be found at https://help.care.com/

This website is a scam. They auto renew your membership and there customer service department has been advised to "never refund any money for any reason" even if they are at fault. I originally signed up for one month because I saw several in home daycare providers in my town listed and I had to purchase a one month membership in order to contact them. Once I signed up, I saw that there daycare providers did not exist! They put up fake providers to lure you to sign up. Once I realized this was a sham, I decided to not renew my membership and did not visit the site after the first month. I recently checked my credit card statement and realized that I was being charged every month - I immediately called Care.com only to be told that they never refund money to anyone. This is the response I received...
Per your request I have reviewed your case. Unfortunately, at this point we will not be able to offer you any further refunds. As the representative you spoke with explained, it clearly states on our enrollment page that we are a subscription service and that all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. I have attached a copy of this page for you to review again. Ultimately it is the member's responsibility to either downgrade the account or contact us when through using the service.
I apologize if you misunderstood our subscription service or forgot to cancel. However, if you refer to Section 8.3 of our Terms of Use you will see that all payments for services are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for unused services.
If you have any further questions please refer to our Terms of Use for more information.
Best Regards,
Cara

It did NOT clearly state that my one month membership would be auto renewed. That is a lie on there part and they are clearly hurting for money and just trying to take advantage of people. I have filed complaints with BBB and contacted care.com several times. I only accessed the site two times and realized that they falsely advertised sitters in my area to get me to sign up. Then, I was charged 37 dollars a month for NOT VISITING THE SITE, these charges were NOT AUTHORIZED BY ME and they are not willing to refund. Stay away from this site at all costs - use sittercity.com
Hi Megan,
We're sorry to hear about your experience with Care.com, but would like to clarify a couple of things.
Firstly, as clearly stated on our upgrade page and in our terms of use, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until the member sets them to cancel. Care.com has a strict refund policy, also stated in our terms of use. Please refer to sections 8.2 and 8.3 for these policies.
Secondly, Care.com would never put up fake providers to lure anyone in to using the service. You can sign up for free to see the care providers in your area so that you can decide if there are going to be people you will want to contact before upgrading. Any in home daycare providers that you had seen would still be listed after upgrading, and you can search specifically for these providers by doing a search for "Family Child Care" care givers.
We again apologize for your experience.
Regards,
Care.com Member Care Representative
Not too difficult, couldn't find the senior care I needed at first but I did get there.
Difficult to use. Keeps redirecting me once I've logged in and I lose the contacts I favorited
I have reached out to the reviewer and didn't receive a response. Please visit our Help Center link at https://help.care.com/ for additional help.
It kept asking me to upgrade and I couldn't figure out how to keep the basic deal.
Hi Pam, We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. I'm sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.
A well made website. Will write about experience after I hire the person I have chosen.

A few years ago I stumbled across care.com come. I signed up and started looking for jobs. No charges were involved. I found a really good job so I havent been on it for a few years so now im looking for a part time job to help with finances and I go to log on and I am locked out so I try to create a new account and I am still locked out. I sent an email to ask why and they told me that my back ground came back and so im permanently blocked that I have to contact sterling company that does the third party back ground check. I called sterling and after about 30 minutes of triing to talk to people who dont speak english they didnt have any record of doing a back ground check. I ask them to send a email to care, com stating that but they said they could not because there is nothing to send. So I then replied back to care.com that I called sterling and there was never a background done on me and that they had trouble pulling up my name because it was so common that they had to get all my personal information to verify and still nothing showed up. Care, com was rude and unresponsive to my concerns so I started reading about the background policy. Its turns out that they do not verify anyback ground checks. In my case there is no record of my background check and if they did one who was it really that is suppose to be me. They dont quarantee that the information that you are recieving when hiring someone is even correct and the also share all you personal information with third parties. It states all this in their policies. Its a very fake and unsafe company and Im glad now I know so they can keep me blocked.!
I did not know how this was going to come out but it was easy.
Hi Marilyn!
Thank you for your feedback! I am so glad to hear you have had success with the site! :)
Not a transparent fee plan! Not given the opportunity to review information and select accordingly.
Hello Elizabeth, We appreciate your review. We'll be sure to share your feedback with our management team.
I clicked on the monthly subscription and it still charged me for the 12 month.

I was not clear that there is a cost. Background checks are an additional cost.
There should be more information available to help explain how payment to the provider works.

Hello Thomas, Thank you for the 5 star review.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
