I ordered 5 lbs. of Brazil Nuts from Bulk Foods. They were totally rancid and not edible. I tried E-mailing them to find out how to return them, but the site they give customers doesn't seem to exist. I tried calling the number they give customers, and they never answer the phone. Apparently, the only way you can get their attention is to place an order with them, and I definitely would not recommend that. They have the worst customer service I have ever encountered.
This company is horrible. They sent me broken candy sticks and would not return them. I was told that they do have a return policy but they will not allow me to return damaged product. I stated they were sent to me damaged and they refused to refund or even compromise in any way. I tried calling them on the phone and no one has any idea what is going on. Sounds like a bunch of kids working out of a garage. Purchase at your own RISK!
I ordered dried coconut and Medjool dates from Bulk Foods to make homemade granola, and I was so surprised to see all the options they have. They even have dried fruit without sulfur or added sugar for those of us trying to follow a healthy diet. Thank you! -Angela
They dont communicate when they are out of product, The site lists the candy as instock but they dud not have it never told me about it being out of stock,
If they tod me i could have gotten the candy elsewhere I had to overnight my order from another site because bulk foods screwed me over.
They didnt even apologize for screwing up my order
Terrible customer service
Ive spent 1000s of dollars with them over the years. After my card got charged twice on two separate occasions, they wouldn't give me a refund, send the items or even give me a discount. Hundreds of dollars of my money has/is being held up in a web of their bull$#*!. On top of it all, they won't even take responsibility for the extra charges. They were rood and condescending throughout the whole nightmarish dilemma. I might file a lawsuit and I WILL be taking my business elsewhere. They will feel the sting...
Having some difficulty finding bulk grains locally, I opted to give Bulk Foods a go. Initially I was a bit put off by the higher cost (and shipping) but wanted to explore them as a useable option for my needs. My first order was for their 8 & 12 grain cereals as well as packages of their raisins and dried cherries.
First the cereal - hugely disappointed, expecting more rolled grains both bags were heavily ladened with hard mullet and other bird seed like products :(. The 12 grain was closer in content to my local bird food store - relatively unusable (tried it but just could not do a 2nd go, offered it to the local birds and they passed as well). So the overall recommendation on the cereals - a firm no go.
Secondly the dried fruit - a good product all in all, no major complaints.
At the end of the day the higher cost of the products coupled with the out of pocket for shipping (not to mention the below average cereal) made my experience a one off and one not to be repeated.
I bought 5 lbs. of pumpkin seeds from this company as a first-time buyer, because they had the BEST price! But, I understand why their prices are so great, because what you buy doesn't weigh what it is supposed to weigh. Upon receipt, I weighed the plastic bag they came in and it weighed only 4 lbs., including the packaging---a whole pound SHORT or 20% less than what I thought I was buying---a huge difference! I wrote to the company but have not yet received a reply. If you order from them, be sure to weigh your order when you get it. You will probably be surprised.
I have ordered from this company for years. Recently they made a shipment error (sent me hard wheat instead of buckwheat). They have not even bothered to respond to my emails requesting a correction or credit. They have great prices, but order at your own risk. I will not use them again.
Just grabbed the bulk foods bag of cashews off the shelf because I didn't feel like eating meat today. Got home, craved something to munch on so I opened up the cashews. As I was eating then i stared ready the bag. I noticed there were imported from places like Vietnam and india from which I'm aware they add a lot of illegal chemicals to their produce. I then went straight to the bulkfoods website and couldn't find much info on their products so I started reading things like the terms and conditions. I actually says this ( on the small print on the website) " THESE PRODUCTS CONTAIN CHEMICALS KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS AND REPRODUCTIVE HARM"
What the f*%k
While reading this I started feeling unwell and abit itchy. I guess bulkfoods just cares about money and not real food products from which it advertises. Stay aware people research definitely pays off.
Each Christmas our company sends gift tins to each employee. I was able to get all the gift tins we needed from Bulk Foods, and they even let me choose what items I wanted in each tin! Not only is the selection great, but the tins are beautiful.
I work in marketing, and often bring candy or nuts to my clients. After searching online for a company that sold candy and nuts in bulk, I found Bulk Foods! They have a wide variety of wrapped candies that are perfect for using as a token of appreciation to my clients. I was not able to find a better deal anywhere else
I've ordered one large order in 2009 and recently another order of similar items. Wanted to comment that it's the same food that was available back in 2009. It wasn't well suited to enjoyment so I placed it on my shelves in foodsaver airtight bags in case of emergencies. Once again, today I sampled the gluten free fruit and nuts cereal and fruit granola recently and it all tasted like crap. I noted sulfur dioxide in one of them (blah!). The chicken soup base had enough salt to choke a horse as if they're trying to poison their customer. I don't know the level of IQ at this company, but that chicken soup base was horrendously bad that it went straight into the trash. I wasted $5.00.
Have ordered from here several times. They have provided prompt accurate service and I would recommend. No more trips to stores that wouldn't have what I needed in stock.
I'm a retired chef that takes pride in everything I cook. I've been plant based for over three years. In our current location, non of the outlets offer jack fruit. In the past I've used canned young jack fruit, always draining off the liquid beforehand. I came across your website this past October. I prefer to buy in bulk, ordering four pounds of jack fruit as well as three one pound bags of assorted herbs.
It's now time for MY review of your products.
Jack Fruit. I'm still wondering what it really is! I have made three separate style vegan dishes since your product arrived. No matter how much seasoning, or liquid, or cooking it and prepare it several different ways, the same overpowering, unpleasant flavor bullies it was through!
I experimented one more time today cooking up a smallish batch of Olive Oil using your garlic and onion product including salt and tomato paste. No matter how much I purposely over salted and over seasoned this product, the final taste was always that pungent overpowering flavor of ( I don't really know what to call it!) Intitnaly I serpaerted the original bag into ½ pound zip locks freezing the lot. As of ten minutes ago all the frozen bags were tossed in the trash!
I've been buying from this company for 10 years or more. It started with dehydrated onions and garlic. Don't forget the French peanuts. I mostly buy items I can't find elsewhere for a better price. Those French peanuts went quickly as my spouse loves them. I dry canned a quart with my seal a meal and oxyzorbs. Humidity is high here and candy and everything else clumps into a ball of wet. I didn't order the chicken base as these are very salty. Salt is their flavoring preservative like bullion cubes. I order mostly vegetables and not powered vegetables. Onions, garlic, potatoes, bell peppers, celery and coconut milk. My spouse likes the Jordan Almonds. If you order fresh nuts like walnuts, cashews, almonds, peanuts or pecans you cannot store them in their bag in a kitchen cupboard. The oil in these nuts will go rancid and they become a loss on your part not the suppliers. You have to learn how to store your product. I like this company, have never had a problem with shipment or with payment. I'll keep ordering from them. Thank you Bulk Foods.
I've ordered from them in the past and I was pleased with the nuts and seeds I received. However, in February of 2017 my order of spanish peanuts and cashews had a strong off-smell when I opened the box. I opened a 5-pound bag of the spanish peanuts (1 of 3) and it didn't taste right, I called bulkfoods and was told for complaints to email them, never a reply, I emailed again thinking the products would be maybe alright but I've had to throw everything away. From now on I order from nutsdotcom, never again from bulkfoods.
"My restaurant had gone through several suppliers for spices and cooking items until we found Bulk Foods. Now, I can order all the spices we needin bulk for a low cost. The service is always prompt and we've never had a problem with the qualityof the products we recieve."
-Josh K.
I have never written a bad review before. But this company was just too much.
Terrible products,
Bad packaging,
Over-charged me on the shipping costs,
When I contacted them about sending the wrong product, they simply refuse to respond.
I would strongly warn everyone.
WARNING, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!
THIS BUSINESS IS RATED "A" BY THE BBB WEBSITE. I have made many orders (more than 10) from this site and never had a problem. They have different things for sale like; chia seeds, millet, and amaranth by the pound, whole nutmeg, fossil shell flour, goji berries. I like to get dried fruit to add to the kombucha brew. It's good stuff!
You can find every spice you will ever need here. I got a 5lb bag of cayenne to spray the garden pests!
They also have organic dried fruits & grains, dried beans, and old fashioned ribbon candy. I am partial to their organic evaporated cane juice sugar. This would be a great place for a bakery to get their goods. I guess, once again, I got lucky with this site. Of course I have never ordered nuts or had an occasion to contact customer service. So they seem to be A+ to me!
While thier prices are good thier c/s sucks. If you have a problem you are sol. I probably should weigh the food I get as one person suggested.
Answer: Each package has a label that indicates country of origin. Unfortunately, I don't think that information is on the website but it's worth asking them.
Answer: I just received an order (April 2020) and everything I received was very good quality.
