I hired Grace Creek Construction off of your web site. Andrew Schmit is the owner. Found that he had his business under another name, Diamond Flooring and Remodeling. He left my bathroom remodel incomplete but took my money. I found a review from 2017 where he did the same thing to another home owner. Started the job and then stopped showing up or returning calls. The few times I was able to get through to him he stated medical issues. The review on porch.com/roanoke is the exact same experience I had with him. This man/company should not be listed or referred for any job. If you don't want to experience being taken for your money and incomplete work. DONT USE HIM. QUIT ADVERTISING HIM!
I made a call to what I thought was a flooring contractor. He told me that he would give my info to a person that does flooring. I waited a few days, no call, so I made calls and let the contract. I'm sorry it went that way. Cause a couple days later I started getting calls from several fine contractors. I didn't know "BuildZoom" exsisted till the responses started coming in.
Hey David! It looks like you may have submitted your inquiry on our BuildZoom website - it can sometimes take 24-48 hours for contractors to get your request and start reaching out to you. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the initial delay in communication. We're glad to hear that you eventually connected with several fine contractors through BuildZoom. Your feedback is valuable, and we will work on improving our processes to ensure timely responses in the future. If you have any further concerns or need assistance with future projects, please don't hesitate to reach out.
They will pressure you and call you to pay for a premium deal, then right when you send the money it's over with. Those are all false promises they're telling you. Once you send them money it's non refundable and they DONT CARE.
Hello Larissa,
We would love to learn more about your issue, can you reach out to us at customersupport@buildzoom.com? We are unable to locate any records that match your first name and last initial.
When a client chooses to purchase Premium Services, we schedule a Kickoff Call within a few days of the purchase with the client and our project management team who will provide an overview of the Premium Services and learn more about your project. After that, we start to source contractors for your project.
We handle refund requests on a case-by-case basis, and it usually becomes non-refundable if we've put in a fair amount of effort working with contractors directly to acquire bids. This is also the reason we split the cost of Premium Services into multiple invoices, and you only pay when a stage of your project is complete. Since we've completed the work, that invoice is non-refundable but you can cancel any future invoices if you decide you no longer want the services.
However, if you paid your down payment and haven't received a Kickoff call, please let us know by reaching out at customersupport@buildzoom.com.
We used BuildZoom to find a remodel contractor that they rated highly to add a 1,000sqft attic addition. Their recommendation, Gold Home Remodeling, LLC took over $130,000 from us and ten months later, we had no framing, no HVAC, no electrical or sheetrock. The contractor did flood our ceiling twice and tear up our bathroom. When we complain to BuildZoom, they had the audacity to ask us for the name of any good contractors we found. Yikes! These people are terrible.
Hi Frank,
We are sorry to hear about your experience with Gold Home Custom Remodeling, LLC. We’d like to clarify that BuildZoom is not associated with Gold Home Custom Remodeling, LLC, or any contractors. We assist property owners with finding contractors in their local area and act as an owner's rep to help them validate contractors and get through the pre-construction process, however we don’t have our own network of contractors. We also partner with over 2000 building departments and contractor license boards across the United States to manage a database of active contractors on our website.
I see that you have provided a review on Gold Home Custom Remodeling's BuildZoom profile, so thank you for doing that! Reviews, both good and bad, help property owners make decisions on which contractor's to choose for their project!
To provide some more clarity on your review, each contractor has a BuildZoom score. We evaluate contractors based on a lot of different criteria to determine if the contractor is the best fit for your project and how reliable they are. Things such as (but not limited to) the number of permits they’ve filed in their lifetime (and in the last 12 months), the number of jobs they’ve completed, the types of jobs they completed, the reviews they receive on different review platforms, the number of years they’ve been in business, their bid-to-hire rate, their licenses, and how responsive & engaged they are with both their clients and BuildZoom. All of these factors, and more, go into their BuildZoom score that ranks them among other contractors in their local area. Reviewing a contractor's BuildZoom score along with their permit history are great indicators of how they conduct their business practice.
We messaged you shortly after receiving your initial review with some best practices on how to take action against Gold Home Custom Remodeling. These are well known practices throughout the industry as the best and most successful methods to recoup investments in these scenarios. If and when we discover that a contractor is conducting themselves in a manner that’s bad, we do suspend or ban them from our website. We put a block on Gold Home Custom Remodeling's profile so they will temporarily not get any leads from BuildZoom. Additionally, we are currently attempting to get in touch with Gold Home Custom Remodeling about this situation. We will be sure to keep in touch when they respond.
I needed hard packed snow moved so I can get pback to my fuel tank some more fuel, I deliver it. Buildzoom has the contractors to get hard packed snow moved. Professional, conversational, and this is important, contractor shows up when they say they will, priced well, does a great job andBuikdzoonm has many contractors ready to help and w their skid steer folks, that is priced reasonably
Thank you for your review! We're glad BuildZoom helped you find a contractor for moving hard-packed snow. It's great to hear that the contractor was professional, timely, and reasonably priced. We appreciate your feedback and are happy we could connect you with the right help!
Received a contractor through buildzoom.cvom.
Started and messed up the slab. Took a good deposit and has since fallen off the face of the earth.
Buildzoom is impossible to get ahold of and when you nget an email it is a bopiler plate copy.
There is no phone number that they actually answer.
I woul highly recommend that people stay away from this company.
Hello Dave,
First and foremost, I am sorry that this was your experience with a contractor found on BuildZoom. I'd like to point out that contractors are not employed by or affiliated with BuiildZoom. BuildZoom serves as the largest database of contractors in the U.S. to help property owners find contractors in their area to help with their project. I would like to initially address your comment on the contractor and then on getting in touch with BuildZoom.
What you're describing is the exact type of contractor behavior that we don't condone. I would highly advise you to leave an honest review on the contractor's profile (near the bottom of the profile) to help ensure others are aware of their behavior. Also, as a precautionary measure, we will block this contractor from receiving additional leads from BuildZoom and launch an internal investigation. We would be happy to provide some regulatory recommendations that you could use against this contractor. Please keep an eye out for a message from our Escalations team shortly.
It seems as if our support team was quite responsive once we received notice that this was happening, just about one week ago. It looks like they are currently working through your case and are connecting you with our escalations team at the moment. If any other concerns or questions arise, please feel free to reach out to support@buildzoom.com and we'd be happy to help out.
We contacted Blue Collar Home Remodeling LLC to replace water damage "dry rot" not only did they respond quickly but they also made the construction process smooth. Showed up every morning worked thorough the day and stayed focused on the job without leaving. The reason I say this is because we have had problems with contractors in the past not working thro the day and dragging out the job beyond the scheduled timeline. We could not be HAPPIER with the work. We also hade them build a deck for us while we had a GOOD contractor the deck turned out beautifully. We definitely recommend this company.
In this crazy environment of the housing market, my wife and I thought we would try building our retirement home. I wouldn't suggest building a house in the best of times. It was not easy finding a competent builder that wasn't way over priced. BuildZoom has a very professional staff that listens to what you are saying and than matches you to builders in the area you are building. As well as builders that understand what you have in mind for your new home. We have had a wonderful experience with BuildZoom, we were able to find a great builder at a competitive price!
We recommend them to anyone looking for a builder. We hope this has helped you in your search for a builder.
We are very pleased with the installation of our walk in shower. The installer (Bud Glasby) did a excellent job, he explained everything he was going to do, and did very neat work, everything was cleaned up. We are very satisfied with the service. Would recommend Fogal Point to anyone and Bud Glasby.
BuildZoom was very helpful. Quick and easy. They provided us with several contractors to call and we went through with the project because of them. Shape Up Renovation did a fantastic job.
Thank you for your review! We're glad BuildZoom was helpful and made the process quick and easy. It's great to hear that Shape Up Renovation did a fantastic job on your project!
Rabbit Roofing exceeded our expectations in every aspect. Their commitment to quality, transparency, and customer satisfaction makes them the best choice for any roofing project.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that Rabbit Roofing exceeded your expectations and that you found their commitment to quality, transparency, and customer satisfaction exceptional. It’s great to know that you consider them the best choice for roofing projects. If you have any future needs or require further assistance, please feel free to reach out.
I found BuildZoom easy to use and potentially helpful. On the other hand, caveat emptor. Online reviews are just a supplement to that old reliable, "word of mouth."
I did not know how to go about building our custom home. BuildZoom offered assistance and I had the worst imaginable experience that cost me a lot of time and money. If you are reading this please beware: BuildZoom is a total scam. They promised a lot delivered worse than nothing. I wasted tons of time and money and ended up where I started. They connected me with an architect that designed a very expensive house, twice over the budget that I planned for and almost twice the size I asked for. It took over a year to get this design from him which required tons of adjustments and the final one provided did not have all the necessary components, such as plumbing for example. Everything he designed was overly expensive and a lot of stuff was unnecessary and uncalled for. I got no help with selection of a contractor, and all contractors offered by BuildZoom were poorly qualified to build a custom home (specializing instead in solar panels, windows, improvements, etc.). Total nightmare, so I had to find my own contractor. When I complained, I was told that they will take care of it but never received a call back. Their employees come and go and the ones I dealt with were not paying attention to my project.
Hi Tanya, thank you for sharing your feedback.
I'm sorry to hear you had a poor experience. I understand you are already working with our Construction Engineering team's manager to sort through this situation. I have forwarded him this information in order to expedite an amicable resolution.
Six Sigma Construction played a pivotal role in our new building project from inception to completion. Their expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering a top-notch result were truly remarkable.
Right from the initial consultation, Six Sigma Construction stood out as a reliable and knowledgeable partner. The team manager, Ronnie, is a seasoned expert in the realm of construction, bringing a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to professionalism. He carefully considered every aspect, providing valuable insights and suggestions to enhance the project's functionality and aesthetic appeal. The whole team's responsiveness was commendable, fostering a sense of trust and transparency.
The pricing and value provided by Six Sigma Construction were fair and reasonable. They provided a detailed and accurate estimate upfront, and there were no surprises or hidden costs throughout the project. Considering the exceptional quality of their work, their pricing was more than justified.
We deeply appreciate your dedicated efforts in bringing our cherished dream to fruition. Your hard work has truly made a difference. Thank you!

I did not send a review, I complained that you were using my name and other information, and associating it and me to a business that I never had! I an now over 65 and retired from the plumbers union, I retired 6 years ago. A person can have their pension put in jeopardy before they reach full retirement age if they are running and advertising a plumbing company on the side. Also the IRS MIGHT WANT THEIRS SHARE OF THE PROFITS. So since you don't pick up your phone I HAD CALL THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, and to my good fortune they picked up. SO GET MY NAME OFF YOUR WEB SITE, so please, thank you.j
Hi Joe,
BuildZoom partners with over 2000 building departments and contractor license boards across the United States to maintain a database of almost 4 million contractors. Similarly, we receive permit data from city or county building departments, which is all public data. We pull this permit data every day to ensure we have the most updated information for all of our contractors.
I understand that you are concerned about having your name tied to a business profile. I can assure you that this is no longer the case. We have deleted this profile and any data correlating to you. I hope that this clears everything up, and if you do need to reach us about anything else, please feel free to reach out to support@buildzoom.com.
We had a great experience with BuildZoom! They took us through the process of finding a contractor to help us renovate our home that was flooded during Hurricane Ian. They helped us through all the hurddles with FEMA, Insurance, and all the hoops we had to go through to finally be in a postition to hire a contractor to put our home back together. After 8 months we have finally signed a contract and are on our way. A special thanks to Sydney and Alex who were available to answer all out questions and they did a lot of research for us in the process. We are so thankful to have had their knowledge to help us finally get to this point. I would recommend them to anyone looking to find a contractor to help with a project.
The contractor that BuildZoom referred to me had a criminal record for theft and burglary - and they only referred 1 contractor to me after telling me that up to 4 would be in touch. Thank God I looked it up myself and cancelled the meeting for an estimate. I've pulled my project from their site and will not be utilizing their services in the future. We've already gone through a nightmare with a contractor who turned out to be a criminal (we did not hire him through BuildZoom, which is why I decided to try it out), and I was hopeful that they could at least do a modicum of due diligence in checking the backgrounds of these people. It appears that I was incorrect. As always, buyer beware, and make sure to look at the background of anyone you hire, especially since BuildZoom doesn't seem interested in doing so for their users. To top it off, after informing them of this, all they did was say "Sorry about that" and then send me a survey on how satisfied I was with them. They were utterly and completely useless.
Hello BJ L.,
We evaluate contractors based on a lot of different criteria to determine if the contractor is the best fit for your project and how reliable they are.
In most cases, we are not able to look at the personal history of the owner of a contracting business. However, if we find any recent legitimate foul play as it relates to their work as a contractor, we will not work with them.
Regarding only getting 1 contractor when you were looking for 4, we always work diligently to try to get at least 3 contractors for our clients. It’s not uncommon that we reach out to 80-100 contractors to try to get a client 3-4; however, we can’t control if a contractor decides to participate on a project. The most influential factors that determine whether contractors participate are the project scope and budget. If there seems to be a misalignment on what the Property Owner wants and the budget they said they’re willing to pay, then contractors won’t spend the time to check out the project and bid for it. Contractors can easily determine if there will be challenges with budget feasibility based on the project type and the budget proposed by the property owner. A quick example of this is that the average rate for a partial home remodel today is in the general range of $120 - $200 per square foot. If a Property Owner’s scope and budget come out to be around $95 per square foot, the remodel is likely not going to be possible, and a contractor won’t want to check out the job.
We are sorry that your experience with BuildZoom was not to your liking. We hope that this context helps shed some more light on the process; if you have questions or need any additional assistance you can reach out to us as customersupport@buildzoom.com.
I recommend Durable Coatings of Iowa for a number of reasons. Their finished product is beautiful and easy to clean and maintain. The initial consultation with the company representative was informative. He helped answer all my questions about their products and service, which allowed me to easily see, the benefits of having my garage floor finished by Durable Coatings. The installers were timely, friendly and highly professional, from start-to-finish. Their work was second to none. The installers believed in what they were doing. You could see this in their dedicated effort to complete the job as perfectly as possible. Something I saw that one normally doesn't see, and that was, the installers actually liked what they were doing. This was noted in their body language, temperament and rapport. The price to do my garage floor was spot on, considering the amount of materials and effort that was needed to complete the job. Please give all your employees, that were involved with finishing my garage floor, a big pat on their backs. They deserve it to say the least. Thanks for a job well done...
We were very pleased with the work that was done. They showed up when they said they would, did a good job, cleaned up afterwards, and stayed in the budget. We love the new look of our house
Hired plumber, Mike Nigro, excellent work. Definitely will use BuildZoom to find another contractor if and when another home project needs a professional.
