Book Writing Experts signed a contract with me last May for a set of services. They took my money, did ONE item in the set -- the easiest, quickest one -- then refused to answer any of my emails for nearly FOUR MONTHS. In February, they called me and said they couldn't possibly do the rest of the items for the amount that I had paid. They initially said they would refund my money, but then they refused to return any of it: they literally said "we can't give you a refund." Then they said, even if they did owe me a refund, they WOULDN'T pay it back. They tried to put the blame on me, saying they only took on my case out of charity and out of the kindness of their hearts! Then, when I threatened to sue them for breach of contract, they said they would only return half of what I had paid: 50%, for doing only 17% of the work I paid them to do. I have asked them to explain why they think this is fair and they have refused to answer. They have repeatedly lied to me and have even used vaguely threatening language. They said they had emails from me proving my complete and total satisfaction, which is a LIE. (I have since found out that they have tried that one on other writers.) I have filed a breach of contract lawsuit against them and, in preparing to go to court, I discovered that, far from the excellent reputation they assured me they had, they are the subject of numerous complaints with MANY consumer protection groups, including the HORRIBLE RATING they have with the Better Business Bureau of Los Angeles. Among many writers' advocacy groups, they are NOTORIOUS for ripping off writers. When we discover disgusting scammers like this, we have a responsibility to shut them down so that no one else becomes a victim. Predators like Book Writing Experts are always banking on the idea that most writers will just give up and go away; it only takes a few of us to stand up to these disgusting crooks. They need to be shut down and penalized with the full force of the law. Book Writing Experts should never be allowed to prey on another writer!
