Blue Nile promises free returns, but if you buy expensive wedding rings the returns don't really end up being free. You see if you buy say a $5000 ring and decide you don't want it, you have to pay to ship it back to them. But you can't just put it in an envelop and mail it, you have to send it registered and insured which can easily run you over $50. So I'd choose a good local jeweler over Blue Nile unless you're really sure you're not going to return anything. I would point out though that the return went smoothly to Blue Nile's credit.
WOW doesn't even describe how beautiful my dainty cut-out cross necklace looks. It is absolutely perfect; the disc size, the chain length, weight and clasp. The attention to detail and quality of material is 5-star! Blue Nile is my new go-to jeweler.
This is the best place to purchase jewelry. I got my wife's engagement ring and wedding band here. I was able to custom select every aspect of the rings. For her I chose the color 'D' for Debbie, the carat weight was. 77, we graduated HS together in '77, the table(% of area on top of diamond) was 59%, we were both born in '59. Her rings are platinum which is in the 10th group on the periodical chart, we were married 10/10/10. I selected the band width, clarity and cuts as well. She loved all the thought that I put into it.
Now as for the price, unbelievable, I shopped around the local brick and mortar jewelry stores, they could'n even come close, in fact one of the jewelers actually recommended Blue Nile after he couldn't find what I wanted.
I purchased an engagement ring from Blue Nile. After looking at the local jewelry shops, I just hadn't found what I wanted. Blue Nile had both the ring and the diamond that fit my budget and her style. She said yes, and continues to stop and stare at it from time to time. Thanks Blue Nile!
My fiancée couldn't be happier with the diamond. It's a 2 carat almost perfect gem.
The purchase process is important of course as it's an emotional and exciting purchase. Notifications and next steps were effectively and promptly communicated. Unfortunately Blue Nile would not help me with an opportunity to purchase the cleaning kit after the fact. I was unaware the cleaning kit was even an offering.
Otherwise two thumbs up.
I am completely glad with my order. I was kept informed along every step of the way and I received my order on the date promised, so recommend to all!
Happy to hear this, Zacharie. Thanks for the glowing review!
I have purchased several items from Blue Nile, my favorite being a pair of peridot and diamond drop earrings set in white gold. I have gotten many compliments on them, and they have held up well. When I purchase from Blue Nile, I know the quality of what I am getting. They are very transparent with the descriptions of each item on their website. When I buy something there on sale, I feel like Im getting a good price. Items are always packaged so nicely. I love opening them up. I would and have bought from them again and again.
Incredible service great products very accurate description, fast easy delivery with confirmation because of the cost of their products. I received email updates for shipment. All was very easy to maneuver.
When I received my wedding band I was beyond impressed with my experience. The process was very smooth. Once I received my ring, it was perfect! It was exactly what I wanted and I was so impressed with the quality! Thank you Blue Nile! I will definitely purchase in the future!
So happy to hear you're happy, Lindsay. We pride ourselves in excellent service and quality, and we are glad to have been able to provide you with both!
Well, I finally got my ring ordered from blue nile last Monday. I saw a lot of possitive feedbacks on the internet about this company, and that was the primary reason I ordered my ring from them. I ordered a 1.5 carat H color diamond ring which was just a little over $6,000. The ring turned out perfect except the size. It was a little loose on my finger so I took it to the local jewelry store to have it resized which costed me another $300. Otherwise, this would be a real deal!
Purchased a London Blue Topaz ring for my wife. The size of the stone was substantial and color of the stone was the same as in the picture. Been shopping with blue nile for almost 20 years now. Never been disapointed in a purchase. Customer service has always been great and shipping always on time or earlier than expected.
To give you a big picture of this company, they should be THE MODEL TEMPLATE on how any and every company should be run. I have bought a few smaller items from them, then bought an engagement ring and just recently a wedding ring. The customer service is OFF the charts fantastic, they answer the phone, they take care of whatever you need, so refreshing. Now the Product, I originally was working with a jeweler a friend referred to me, I showed her the ring specs and price I was looking at from BN and she said I cant touch that for price and in that quality spec range. She said I recommend you buy that ring from them, they are reputable and have so much buying power they can afford to offer these deals. Mind you this was a competitor. So needless to say we are so happy with our purchase and BN! A++++++++++++++++++ 10 stars!
I absolutely love my London Blue Topaz engagement ring - it's a stunning piece that is both elegant and bold. Always get a lot of compliments wearing it ;)
5 star rating. I have worked in the field of customer service and I was so very important how you treated
Thanks for the 5 stars!
Great quality and customer service, though prices are a little bit higher, but it worth each penny. I advise it to my sister

My husband purchased a $600 platinum bracelet for me. It chipped and at that point I found out it was plated silver. The bracelet was not platinum at all. I contacted blue nile and they refused to offer any type of reconcilitation. They talked to me on the phone twice. They said that I found a bracelet that looked like theirs and it was not the one they sent me. They shipped the same bracelet back to me with an invoice saying it was a platinum bracelet AGAIN and when I opened the box it was the same one I had before They didn't even have the guts to tell me they weren't going to do anything about sending me the wrong bracelet. This is complete BS. If you purchase anything from there take it to a jeweler to get it tested to make sure it is real.
I would give zero stars if I could.
Blue Nile ruined my ring!
I bought engagement ring from Blue Nile in July 2021 for around £1600.
I have raised concerns at the time about two visible lines on the back of the ring, that look like the ring has been resized. Blue Nile offered to pay for it to be sent back. I refused as that time was busy with my Wedding planning.
Last month May 2022 I contacted Blue Nile to ask if the offer to be repaired still stands. Answer was yes, I also mentioned how the ring head was not right for the actual ring and the prongs were too large and covering areas of the diamond.
A customer rep. Suggested they can change the ring head to the original gallery bar head which would have smaller prongs.
I hesitated as I was not convinced that the craftsmanship was very good, but went with it.
The ring was resized and head setting changed and this was done for free.
When I receive the ring last week I was shocked to see they have completely ruined my ring. The new gallery bar is bulging out on the sides of the diamond, it doesn't sit flush and the metal is not polished and bent where the bars are. It looked like a complete amateur job. The diamond was dirty with inclusions in places I never seen before and assumed it was damaged too in the process of resetting.
Now the ring has been sent back and after the quality assessment team concluded the repair had met the Blue Nile standards, which I completely disagree with. Blue Nile asks me to pay for the ring head to be changed to a better suited for the diamond four claw ring head with talon prongs.
I have sent images and explained to more than one rep. That my diamond is more rounded compared to more elongated or square cushion cut, it has no sharp edges like the princess cut, that it does not suit this setting. Blue Nile experts failed to advise that this was unsuitable setting and it was not as what they emailed me, the way it was advertised on their website.
I demanded full refund as I have zero confidence Blue Nile are capable or competent of fixing the damaged ring. One of their managers was supposed to call and they have not.
Feel completely devastated and in tears over this situation.
Photos after and before the botched job.
Very quick delivery and an excellent product. Will purchase more stuff from here again! The product was as described and delivered in perfect condition.
Thanks for the 5 stars, Claire! Happy to have provided you with quality service and jewelry.
I ordered two items. A sapphire and diamond ring which I love. But also a sapphire and diamond bolo bracelet that looks so tiny that my grandchildren could wear it.
I am almost 60.
It is not as pictured.
I received return instructions and with a very contagious disease could not get to the required UPS store with all the details on return of a $750 bracelet.
I called back to Blue Nile and said " I am bedridden and could not return in time slot".
The gal told me she needed a doctors note.
I called my infectious disease doctor and the nurse laughed. She said," Seriously, you need a doctors note to return a piece of jewelry? There is a worldwide pandemic going on and no way is the doctor going to have time to write a doctors note for you to return a piece of jewelry "
So I am stuck with a $750 never worn and never will be worn bracelet. Who on earth requires a doctors note because I was too contagious to get to a far away UPS store and triple package as required this unwanted bracelet.
So incredibly unsatisfactory. A shame. Because I love jewelry and live most of yours.
But in these times I can not even physically get into a doctor let alone have them write a letter to explain my delay in a return.
Hi Colleen, we are so sorry to hear about this - this is not the typical customer service experience we strive to provide and we'd like to help. Please reach out to pr@bluenile.com for further assistance.
Answer: Yes, Blue Nile only sells GIA certified diamonds. They generally have more than 250,000 diamonds on the web site. Blue Nile diamonds generally appraise for 30%-50% more than diamonds at local stores.
Blue Nile has a rating of 2.7 stars from 82 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Blue Nile ranks 22nd among Engagement Rings sites.
Hi Miguel, thanks for the review! We are so glad your fiancé loves the diamond -- we loved and being part of your celebration. Thank you for the feedback on the cleaning kit, we'll share with our team internally. Hope we can help find the perfect milestone gifts in the future!
