When I was contacted by a YELP sales rep I was told that I had a $300 credit on my account. I thought YELP would be a good way to advertise my business. I was told several times during the initial call that I would only be charged 171.00, however, when the actual charge to my credit card happened, it was 471.00. The 300 credit was not taken off my bill like I was told it would. I contacted customer service, after being on hold for 1 hr or longer, I was told that they could see the credit on my account, but there was nothing they could do about it. I was told to complete a form to request the refund, which I did. That day I cancelled my account. About 2 weeks later I was told the credit was denied. However, they told me that if I wanted to advertise with YELP they would give me a 300 credit! This is a total scam. Do not advertise your business with YELP. In addition, during the month I had my account, I received only 2 leads, neither of those leads turned into clients.

Don't give Yelp a dime.
February 26, 2021

What a joke! They promised me so many things and delivered on none of them. I'm still waiting for the $400 they took from me to be returned. They said a credit card would only be needed to get the free advertising and they would call and cancel before my advertising budget was used. Well to my surprise (sarcasm) I was never called and my card was charged $400. Now if Yelp did anything to deserve the $400 I would have been happy to hand it over. Instead I listened to their made up stories about the numerous people who used Yelp to find and call my shop. Lies, lies and more lies!

I just opened a new business and customers left many good reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, YELP software have them hidden and marked as an unrecommended review. When I call customer service, they said to place advertising so my business can show up in Yelp so Yelpers can try and review your business. If the reviewers are not active Yelp users, reviews will be hidden. What a twisted way of doing business!

A total waste of money. Was told that I would receive a $900 credit to help pay for the first 3 months of ads. I literally used this service for 3 DAYS! I canceled and still received an outrageous bill. This service has not brought even a single cent into my business! To charge so much for a service that doesn't turn you a profit is unacceptable. Now I see why their review rating is so low. Will update after I receive my final bill. Smh

They kept calling my business trying to get me to sign up, and finally I agreed to start a free business page. The lady on the phone said if I do it I'll get a $300 ad credit. I told them our brand/website are being redone so I'm not ready to use it, but she said I could turn it off until I was ready and then turn it on. So I signed up and claimed the credit, then 3 months later I was given a bill for over $800! I called Yelp to resolve it, and they told me I knew what I was doing and still owed them every penny. I explained the agreement I made with their operator, and how I told her my situation, but it didn't sway them. They said the ads ran and drove business to me, even though my site was offline and there was nothing to drive business to. I see why Yelp is struggling- I'll never work with them again in any of my business endeavors!

I was contacted by a yelp representative & told that yelp is offering 300 free in credits to try out ad service for businesses... I canceled before reaching the 300 free threshold and a few days later was told I had a bill of almost $300 bucks. That its wasnt a free 300 credit but a bonus that split across advertising. I asked numerous questions before signing up and at no point was anything other than free trial, free credit mentioned to me. This is false advertising, very fraudulent and a scam and I will be reporting to BBB... I urge all of you to too... also you do not receive any business in addition to it all... not worth even signing up for their quote on quote free credits

I recently signed up with Yelp for what I thought was a maximum of $300 per month for ads. After two months I checked my bank statement and found they were taking $420 per month. When I called they offered to refund the $240 they overcharged me, if I signed up for more ads. Sorry, but fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, SHAME ON ME! Nope, I am done with Yelp!

Fake reviews
May 8, 2019

If I give a review on Yelp it's usually an awesome review. If I don't like the service, I just move on. However, if a Business really burns me big time, they will get a one star rating. I did that to a particular business. A friend of the owner called me and said if I don't remove the bad review, all of her friends would give my business a bad review. I didn't back down. I have tons of bad fake reviews. I told Yelp and they simply didn't care.

Business owners you shouldnt pay for this site. You can get a free listing and your clients can still leave you a review. Don't sign a contract! They got me, my contract is almost up thank goodness! You can pretty much get the same results without paying them!

I never intended to pay over $300 in yelp ads, & when I noticed the reoccurring charges on my account, I let them know & asked to be refunded & they refuse to give me any kind of refund & still continued to charge me once again today.

We complianed to YELP about a 1 star review after finding out the user worked for a competitor. YELP responded within 5 minutes of our email that the review was legit (obviously computer generated). 3 years later the user still has 1 review (ours) yet we have 5 star reviews that have been buried by users with multiple reviews. I paid for the YELP platform years ago and after quitting there was no difference in our business volume (they try to tell you otherwise). SCAM!

I spoke with a very friendly woman named Tamika, we spoke for over 2 hours as we set up what was going to be a demo ad for over 50 of our locations. She had me enter my personal credit card to "get things going", but we'll change it... We'll, I didn't know the ad time started that day. The page had no pictures or anything yet. Got billed $1,140. Called and of course no refund. Working with my credit card fraud department now and if I have to I'll pay my lawyer a couple of hundred dollars to see what he can do. DO NOT USE OR PURCHASE YELP. I know I deleted it from my phone and tell everyone I know about this. Make sure you share with your Chamber of Commerce members.

I have a commercial cleaning company. Upon setting up my account the gentleman stated he would be able to weed out getting residential leads and would only funnel those looking for commercial services. Well all the clicks were for residential and I asked for a refund bc the way the services were explained weren't what I received. They didn't deem my request valid and gave no valid reason as to what constitutes a reasonable explanation for a refund

Very disappointed in the electric service I received from Home town service electricians. Changed circuits in my box and now my labeled circuits are not labeled. Requested a call back from a supervisor. Never bothered to call me.

YELP IS WORST SCAM EVER
December 2, 2019

WHY OH WHY didn't I read this first. I got call from a woman at Yelp at *******@yelp.com. Told me she would build a site to show me how great they were but needed my CC number to do that. She PROMISED it would not be charged if I chose not to use them. A few hours later I called her and said my feedback was that Yelp was not any good and I did not want to proceed. She said OK. I sent another email specifically saying this is my formal notice that you are not to charge my cc in any way. She said fine. I just got a $570 charge on my Amex and they won't refund it.
If Yelp calls, don't walk away. RUN away.

Bad for ur business
February 19, 2019

Yelp! Shame on you! You know. A lot of hard working shop owners are doing their best not for your stars but for their passions. Just because we can't advertise with you, you move our good reviews to "currently not recommend". You accuse us for faking reviews? Why does your algorithm only work for good reviews and not bad reviews? You removed 51-5 star reviews and left a bad review, seriously? SHAME ON YOU. We called and you said that if we pay, not only do we get our reviews back, we can remove any unwanted reviews.
Our reviews and revenue come from our blood, sweat and tears and your revenue comes from blackmail. They don't belong to you and it looks like you're going to get it soon. Can't wait to see you get shut down.

Absolutely disgusting. Am flooded with calls & emails from various reps for paid Yelp ads are for nothing. Worse, Yelp has screwed up 2 of my business listings. For one it has linked a business incorrectly to a non-profit in the same industry & refuse to remove the address. When people click on my business they are directed to another business. So all of my reviews look like they belong to another company. For a second business they have reverted my listing to one of a prior phone number & location from several years ago & again refuse to change the address information or even remove the incorrect information. Yelp wants copies of a business license to change this, however I do not operate under one. My business cards do not have an address as this is 2018 & my work is done online and this is 2018. Utterly disgusting. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Yelp Business marketer calls and talks to business owners about how they can make the business more money.

They walk you through how to sign up and give you a discount for said service.

The service does not improve traffic as they try to sell you.

They give you a promotional price and a recurring charge. Went from $200 to $500+/month.

If you do no cancel it will continue to charge and when I went to dispute the charges they were not about customer satisfaction.

The whole sale, setup, service and charge are misleading and they do not care about the business. They are in the business of taking advantage of owners and managers. Very hard working people have been scammed by this company and if you would like to hear what they have to say about the service just call and ask an account manager to explain their misleading tactics.

You will understand where a lot of these 1 star reviews are coming from. Each one probably have been taken for at least $500 but probably much more.

Worse service ever!
January 11, 2023

I am a local business owner for a construction company. I used Yelp to get started thinking with such a popular name I would be guaranteed jobs. Well I had them for 3 months. They charged me $750 a month. $153.65 for just 5 days of service. During the 3 month period I received 65 leads and only 2 responses from the leads. I landed one of those jobs but spent the same cost to receive the job. So I canceled with them. Now 2 months later I just received more charges! Called the bank and they won't reverse the payment and Yelp won't help. Save yourself the time and go with another service. They will rip you off

I wasn't interested and they persisted and I reluctantly agreed to 3 month trial with a $300 max monthly budget. I received NO calls and the last 2 months the budget was max'd out.

Really good sales team but a crappy product.
