After making a purchase and then contacting the site to make sure if it was not a one time fee, that the service was cancelled after a month and a low and behold I was billed for the service the next month. Being on a budget, The unexpected charge resulted in an additional overdraft fee. Unless one specifically "opts in" to a monthly recurring charge under a specific and informed consent arrangement not otherwise in small print, these sort of charges should be illegal and any Bank fees should be paid by said business.

I'm sorry you had a negative experience with BeenVerified. BeenVerified does not offer any single use options. All accounts are automatically recurring subscriptions that will continue until cancelled. We notify you of this during the sign up process, and you must check a box indicating that you understand this is our billing policy in order to even create an account. We include our company name and toll free number in the billing descriptor of each credit card charge so that it is easy to contact us with any billing concerns.

I apologize for any confusion here. I would like to confirm for you that I have cancelled your account and refunded you the most recent monthly subscription charge on your account.

Cancel Been Verified Account

I contacted Been Verified to cancel my account. Within less than 24 hours Linda, no last name stated, sent me back an e-mail stating that my account would indeed be cancelled and removed from my credit card within 2 to 3 days. I checked my card the next day and it was already taken care of. I wish there were more people like Ms. Linda in the workforce. She did her job and did it well. If I ever need to open an account of this type again, I will definatley use Been Verified just because of this helpful lady.

I tried the site after seeing the TV ad. Got some good results on a few people, then started geting out-of-date info. I back checked myself and found my "current" address as a place in another state at which I had not lived since 1992! I've tried to correct it twice (I've moved FIVE times since then), with no results. It lists my parents as alive, and they both died in 2007! When my contract expires, I'm not renewing.

Virtually useless to me. Was looking for criminal records and could fine NONE. I looked at people I know who have them and still none to be found... even someone who did time in fed penn. I called company who claimed they would be posted if digitalized. Apparently this is rare. Also looked at someone in FL. Then randomly changed state and he popped up again! Sort of felt like scam

I wish I had read the reviews on this site before I forked over money (lesson learned). I ran several friends and family members, and came up with nothing. My children do not exist, my parents are still alive, and friends that I know have criminal records are coming up clean. Don't waste your money!

The information in our reports comes from many aggregated sources of public records information. Some individuals may have more information available for them than others, depending on their age, how much they interact with the kinds of agencies that collect public data, and the laws about public records in the state where they live. There is often less information for younger individuals, for example. We do not have search results for individuals under the age of 18. Our criminal results come from the data that has been made available to us by county courts. Some counties make more data digitally available to us than others. We are constantly updating and expanding our records to provide the most accurate and current information we possibly can.

I signed up to try and find one person. Called an canceled immediately because didn't get the info I needed anyway. He said I would have the month for free and he credited my credit card $15 dollars. Gave me one month free, which I did not use and i figured it was done. I have now been charge for the last 3 months. Customer Service was kind enough to credit me one month...$9.99 No a Happy Customer at all and will let everyone I know!
Not sure how people sleep at night having to make money like this.

BeenVerified attempted to help this customer through the Sitejabber Resolution Center, but the customer did not respond

Amazing resource!

I used Been Verified and when I no longer needed the service I called and gave them my reasoning that I no longer needed the service. The Customer Service person said it would be taken care of. MONTHS later I am still being harassed, lied to, and getting money taken out of my account, just got charged again this month! DO NOT USE. They will continue to take money out of your account and do not respect their customers, lying saying "No problem we will take care of that for you" and then continue to take money away.

I called multiple phone numbers listed on their site and they all gave me a giant list of "offers", but no way to cancel my subscription. I finally found the one phone number that worked and was able to cancel but this was a complete pain in the $#*! to cancel. The fact that you can't cancel on the website should be a MAJOR RED FLAG to all people.

I'm a web developer and can tell you that not having an easy way to cancel your subscription is just plain dumb and bad user experience. Do not sign up for this service it's a waste and you'll end up being ripped off by not being able to cancel easily. Never trust a website that can't allow you cancel through their website. Fail on BeenVerified and their web developers. Shame.

Stay Away, this can be dangerous. In trying to cancel, was unable to find my account, I've only used it once and had forgotten about it. I learned when calling to cancel this morning that the account had been established in the name of the person I was verifying, his email was the account email, all information was sent to him (they claim the email bounced. Luckily this will not create a problem for me it has the potential to be best case, embarrassing and worst case dangerous. I am demanding all my monthly fees be returned.

Attempted to sign up for the site. Sign up gave an error. Tried a couple more times, still no luck. Contacted customer service. They said it was my CC company blocking. CC company said not them. Contacted Been verfied again, and now it was I attempted too many times, and to wait 24 hrs. Waited, same story. BV has no idea what they are doing, and make excuses for problems with their system. It's not them. They swear. Stay away... or best of luck to you

Awful company!

Awful company! They turned up no criminal record and we hired a felon on probation for elder abuse to care for a 97 year old man! The felony was confirmed by our family pulling the court records. In hindsight, we should have known better as the free civil court search for Santa Barbara County turned up multiple cases. And the website courtclick for free noted that there were records, and the paid-for results pretty accurately matched the actual records.

Responsive Service

I signed up to get a single background check. Since they had a monthly fee structure I assumed it would be like pulling teeth to get them to cancel it and I was mentally prepared to do battle.

You can imagine my surprise when I got a friendly reply nearly immediately fulfilling my request to my complete satisfaction. I guess I have to put away my pitchfork...

As it turns out, BeenVerified, is not for me. I immediatly emailed and cancelled so that i would not be charged the monthly fee. I am amazed(!) how quickly they responded... Just as immediate, they cancelled and assured no further charges. Amazing AMAZING company. Amazing customer service. I have since gotten two more emails to be sure i was satisfied. Thank you guys for being legit!
