Sellers please avoid backmarket at all cost If you don't want to loose money.
They have a policy of holding on to certain amount of your proceeds as security to cover items sold under the 1 year warranty. The issue is, this policy is a money grabbing scheme for backmarket.
In my case I decided to stop selling on this platform after series of rogue practises by backmarket (another story).
My last sale on the platform was for £329.99 on 19Jun2021, however, backmarket decided to hold £2000 as security for £329.99 item. Backmarket stated they will hold on to the £2000 for the 12 months duration of the warranty cover on the item.
I went back and forth with them to argue why keeping a security guarantee of £2000 for a £329.99 item does not make sense but got no where with this since the money was already with them.
Eventually, I decided to wait for the 12 months to elapse. The 12 months elapsed on 19Jun2022. However, backmarket have still not returned my £2000.
I no longer have any warranty obligation for the last item sold but backmarket will not release the £2000 deferred payout (as they call it).
I'm not sure how a company like this is allowed to trade in this manner.
Seller please avoid this platform at all cost.
DON'T SHOP HERE! The phone I received had a large scratch and many small scratches on the screen and it was supposed to come in perfect condition. Very slow communication process with seller, which caused an extra full week with out a working phone. They only offered a $30 partial refund if I kept the phone, which was a joke and actually an insult given all the time and bother.
No effort made at all to make it a good customer experience after it was their fault they sent me a defective item.
*edit - Back Market response is lies, the order placed on the 15th was cancelled and they've not followed it up. They defer all sales issues to the seller, but you can't contact the seller once your order is cancelled so there is no accountability from them. Do not trust this platform *
Three times I have ordered a phone from Back Market and every time the order is cancelled days later. Each time through a different 'seller' so its recurring issue, not one glitch. They initially said the product was out of stock, but have stopped giving reasons as to why the cancellation happened and are essentially still advertising and selling and taking payment for items that don't exist.
Payment is being processed back, but I now have 2 payments stuck unavailable for the foreseeable. Customer service has been supportive but can't do much except offer a poxy 5% discount which doesn't touch the relative cost of the amount of time I have spent trying to sort out their mistakes.
I bought a phone from Back Market dealer GM Deals in December of 2021. GM Deals sold me a blacklisted phone, so they sent me another one. The phones were unlocked phones advertised to work with Verizon and other providers. Neither phone would work with Verizon. They would not provide a refund as required when they didn't have another phone in stock so they sent the same phone back that did not work. After fighting with them for months, they agreed to allow me to send the phone back and send me a phone that works. The phone was sent back and forth 3 times! The last time they sent it back because they said I cracked it. I never used the phone and it was shipped in the original packaging. They needed to provide a phone that worked well before they mailed it 3 times and broke it the last time. These folks are disreputable, they do not honor their 12 month warranty. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BACK MARKET!
Tried to make a purchase recently. Filled out the form. Stupid thing wouldn't accept my address. Tried contacting Backmarket. Useless. Tried contacting the seller. Also useless. Absolutely no help. You would think they would help so they can do some business. Nope. Total morons. I'll just buy a new one.
Back Market is the best, patronize them, l purchased 3 laptops from them and allin perfect condition. Patronize them you will not regret it. KUDOS to you Back Market
I was amazed that this is a refurbished unit. It looks brand new, it performs beautifully, it was better than I expected it to be. I will definitely be purchasing from them again.
I purchased a Samsung Note 10 Plus 5g in December of 2021. I paid the higher price for an Excellent phone. When I received the phone it has visible damage on the bottom corner. I didn't think much about it until I dropped the phone and it landed on the same corner and the back glass broke. I believe this was in the first 30 days of owning the phone. When I contacted Back Market BM I was honest and the seller said that since I dropped the phone it was out of warranty. Now in July of 2022 my screen has gone black. (the screen glass is unbroken) I contact Back Market to find out if it is covered under their 1 year warranty policy only to find out the the entire phone has been declared "out of warranty." So now that I have a serious problem I have zero ways to get help from the seller or Back Market. I have contacted BM via there customer service number. If you need customer service from BM here is their number *******688
I bought my used phone listed in fair condition. I can't find a scratch on it. The battery life and operation of it are flawless! It came (unlocked) and I swapped my sim card from my old one and didn't need any help getting it setup myself. It was easy! I'm very pleased with my purchase and phone. In the future I will look at Back Market for my electronic devices first. Thanks
I could hardly tell that the 3 computers and iPad I purchased were used. They do an amazing job of making them "like new". And I appreciate their clear communication and transparency about what they consider a quality product. I will be buying from BackMarket anytime I need a "new" computer or device.
I purchased 2 items, one an Xbox one s that would not update or read disc/games. I also bought an ipad that would not take a charge, absolute scammers, do not use back market ever.
Everything is just great. It saves time. You don't have to run around with a bunch of people... nerves are in place.
Backmarket is a kind of platform putting consumers in touch with refurbishers. They make it sound like they offer a one year guarantee but in my experience they hide behind the refurbisher and the guarantee is worthless. A Microsoft Surface laptop that I purchased stopped working properly (keyboard and touchpad) within 3 months. After sending it back properly packaged the refurbisher claimed that I damaged the laptop. This was not true but Backmarket still refused to honor the guarantee.
I would not buy from this company again.
Dont buy its all a bunch of $#*! the warranty is worthless you cant get your money back and all you get is the run around-never again
7 calls into BackMarket over 5 days, no replies, just emails that show nothing. Triple over charges on 2 phones and double on one phone. They blame the vendors, take no responsiblity, customers caught in the middle and they are dishonest and keep passing the buck. Money due back for overcharging multiple times. Bank dispute level now. We had been customers for a long time. Never again. They are sleezy and have not investment in their customers. Cant speak to the same rep more than 1 time. NO accountability for mistakes they have made, refunds due for overprocessing orders and they sit and do nothing. The bank has taken over. I would never recommend them. Years of using them and never ever experienced such a horrific time/ They are not worth any of your time for any purchase, If you need their customer service, there isn't any, they never call back and they just keep telling the customer to email the vendor or call them,. Circles for days on end. Horrible service when its needed, failures plus
I just received my 3rd phone from Back Market, it arrived early, was in better condition than i expected, and works flawlessly thus far. I have paid less for those 3 phones than i did for my last "new" phone. I am still using the second phone that I purchased, the 3rd was to replace my moms phone which quit working. Do yourself a favor, if you buy your phones out right and don't mind a model or 2 old (the bugs are already worked out by the way;-)) for a quarter of the price, and yes... its the greener way to go, give these fine folks a try, and their emails are funny too. From the moment i clicked submit order, the informative emails started, ending with your phone has arrived! Come to think of it, they dont bug me with offers... well look at that, ANOTHER positive plug for Back Market!
I ordered a refurbished phone from www.backmarket.com, but the phone they sent was broken. After I shipped the faulty product back to them, they refuse to give me a refund. Customer service gives me the run-around on my refund for days now. I've spend days and multiple pages of emailing pleading with this company to get my money back, but they have a very stone wall attitude despite that they got their product back.
Purchased a Samsung Chromebook, the@ button stopped working. Contacted the seller. No response. Contacted Back Market, was told to "be patient", "give them some more time". This is all happening while I am in the middle of school and I can't access any of my texts. You'll get the runaround if you ask for a refund. Absolutely do not waste your time. Find a reputable seller.
I've always been skeptical about refurbished items but with the year warranty which you can choose to extend for an additional year, it is well worth it! My brand new AirPods only lasted from 12.19-05.22; this isn't much more than two years. I cannot tell that the refurbished AirPods are not new. Save your money and cut down on waste.
Their buy back prices however are not great. You can resell old AirPods for more money elsewhere.
BEWARE! Back Market's Trade-In offer is a scam. I was offered $50 to trade in my Samsung Galaxy in mint condition. After entering my info to receive the refund and shipping my Samsung Galaxy phone, I receive a counter offer for $25 because the phone allegedly had a "Scratched screen, Scratched case, Broken screen, and white spots on the screen". I had no choice but to accept the $25 counter offer. I told the buyer the trade-in appears to be a scam. The phone was kept in an Otter Box case the entire time I had it. The screen was not scratched or broken. In addition, the case was not broken and there were no spots on the screen. I had no choice but to accept their counter offer because I felt certain that if I rejected it, the trade-in buyer would return a phone with a Scratched screen, Scratched case, Broken screen, and white spots on the screen. What a rip-off!

Answer: Bought a refurbed iPhone 11 unlocked, as a Christmas gift. It arrived and I had it activated. I had no problem with the phone. I went to Simple Mobil, and got their 25.00 plan. The phone is in great condition, works great, and I am happy with Back Market.
