I've used Priceline directly in the past and had terrible experiences. I tried AutoSlash now and the booking went through Priceline. Only the links in the email from AutoSlash resulted in an error on the Priceline page that opened. It said "We were unable to complete your last request. Try your search again."
So I tried the 'Browse All Vehicles/Locations" link and it said 'We're sorry, the car you chose is no longer available due to changes in pricing or demand. But we've found these other great deals for you.' Those great deals were over $200 more.
I wrote AutoSlash on their website contact form and when I clicked submit it froze and didn't accept my message.
My car rental experience lasted over six months, and I ended up with a great deal from AutoSlash. I used the cancel and rebook feature offered by them and the rates for 16 days on Maui went from $680 (cheapest rate I could find) initially to a final rate of $425 from Hertz - this is almost $250 less than the next lowest price I could find.
Every rebooking/cancellation activity was perfect with a fast refund on my cancellations. AutoSlash responded to my email questions quickly, which gave me a sense of confidence in them.
I picked up the car yesterday, and it went perfect.
It surprises me that more people do not know about auto slash. I am sure glad I found it in a google search a few years back. I always cross check their prices against all the big players and without fail they save me 100's every rental!
My previous post drew a response from AS and we communicated very clearly about the error. They were aware of the underlying problem and were already working on a fix with the rental agency. When we arrived at our destination, the car was ready and there was no problem with the car rental company. (Note: Hawaii implemented a marginal increase in the daily rental surcharge tax, from $3/day to $5/day, which confused some pricing offers made by car rental companies, resulting in lots of customer confusion around the increase.).
AutoSlash did yeomans work behind the scenes to rectify an error that was not their doing. They were great to work with and we will use them again in the future.
Just opened up our car rental agreement from AutoSlash, as we are traveling next week. Went to the Alamo site (where the reservation was booked by AutoSlash, or Priceline), and when I reviewed the reservation at the Alamo site, it noted that everything was included, EXCEPT a $315.00 Rent Tax Surcharge. Notified AutoSlash that I would not pay, as our prepaid agreement with AS clearly states that taxes and fees are covered. Anyone else having this issue with Alamo or AutoSlash? AutoSlash responded with a form email saying they are looking into it, but so far no resolution.
I was an avid autoslash user. I travel monthly and rent vehicles often.
I even told all my friends about the company, to my regret. I made a reservation, cancelled it, and made another all within an hour. It has been nearly three weeks and I have not received my refund. After 16 back and forth emails(they don; t accept phone calls for customer service), they say they can't issue a refund to my credit card c of a problem on their end and they must mail me a check, after it's sat for three weeks now I have to wait another week for a check to come in while interest accrues on my card(or they told me I could dispute the charge with my CC company). They refused to do anything about it, they wouldn't pay my interest or give me any type of future discount or savings. Basically I was out $200+ for a month when their refund policy is 7 days. DO NOT RENT HERE, what a nightmare!
Hi Nicholas, I wanted to thank you for helping us discover an issue with our new prepaid booking vendor. As a long-time customer, you're probably aware that in mid-2018, we started working with a new vendor that offers highly discounted prepaid rates as an extra option for people looking for the lowest rates. (We still also search for discounted pay-at-counter rates, too, just like we always have.)
In part because of the issue you experienced, our prepaid booking vendor was able to discover a problem with their credit card processor--if a reservation is made (i. E. charged) and canceled (i. E. refunded) on the same day, the credit card processor throws an error on the refund because it's trying to post a refund before the final charge has settled. They've been able to make some changes to the way that they process cancellations/refunds so this doesn't happen any more, and your case was the lynchpin that helped us figure out what was going on so we could work with them to prevent it from happening again.
I reviewed our conversation history and I see that our booking vendor was able to go ahead and process a manual refund to your card 11 days after you reported the issue to us, so you should be all set. (Looks like they didn't have to mail you a check after all.) Of course, feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or anything--we want to make everything right for all of our customers. It looks like you used our system to check on some other reservations recently (a few months after you posted this review), so I hope that indicates you feel that everything was resolved to your satisfaction.
I asked a friend about where I could save some money for a car Rental. I was sent here to AutoSlash. I'm a member of Costco too; I've done my comparing between the two. I've found that - there are no real savings with AutoSlash. Costco is much easier and quicker than AutoSlash. Yes, this is better than many other places, but Costco is just smoother and you can get better prices too. Thanks for reading.
Hi Marcus, thanks for the feedback! Note that we actually do search all of the Costco discount codes, so we're able to find exactly the same rates that CostoTavel.com finds. And while Costco indeed offers one of the best discounts, a good 50% of the time, there are even better discounts available. We're happy to help you save money and make sure you have the lowest possible rate. If you're finding lower rates at CostcoTravel.com than we're finding, there may be a discrepancy somewhere, and we'd love to take a look at it so we can ensure you have the best rate. Please reach out to our team at support@autoslash.com. Or, if you've found a better price yourself on any other site, just drop it into http://www.autoslash.com/track -- our free price tracking service will monitor your reservation and alert you when an even lower rate comes along, and there's no charge for doing that! If we can help with anything at all, please don't hesitate to let us know!
I was on a shoestring budget going to Orlando and Treasure Island, FL. I had put in hours of research looking for a car rental that I could afford. Only thing even remotely close were the rental companies where you have to get a shuttle at the airport to take you to their off-site car rental business, and the reviews were horrible. Finally, in frustration, I googled "how to find the best car rental price". That led me to Autoslash - within 5 min I had an email with links to the best car rental prices, many at reputable businesses, like Alamo. I rented a mid-size car for 7 days for $180. I spent maybe... 5 minutes getting my car and then returning it at the airport. Thank you Autoslash, we appreciated your service! I will be recommending you to all my friends.
We are going to WDW. Prices for car rentals have been so high. I signed up for autoslash and this morning they emailed me. I got a full size for a full week for $207. I am also able to drop the car off right at the Dolphin resort in Disney. The rental is for Alamo also, not an off brand. I paid up front but you can cancel with no penalty up to 48 hours before. Very impressed so far. I went onto the Alamo site and the same rental with dropping off on Disney property was over $400.
Used to be a dedicated Autoslash user.
They seemed to have sold out during the summer of 2017. Compared prices of my last 5 rentals to my latest search and the price has almost doubled.
Will never use them again.
Hi John,
As you can see from my reply to Judith in a previous review below, we absolutely did NOT sell out. And not only that, the source we use to *find* our rates is still 100% the same as it's been for the last several years.
The only thing that has changed is we're no longer allowed by the rental companies to *book* that rate for you directly, so instead, we give you a link to book it through another major, reputable travel vendor (currently Priceline, because their search system is the only one that actually works with coupons and discounts). But if you compare the rates we send you versus going directly to Priceline and searching yourself, I will guarantee you that for any given rental company, the rate we find will be_less_ than the rate you'll see for them on Priceline (or any other travel vendor site).
If the rate we sent you is higher than you'd like, please email us directly for help. We have a very passionate team of experienced and competent travelers (NOT an outsourced, clueless call center!) who love to help share our experience and knowledge about the travel industry and saving money with others. If you reach out to us, we can do some digging and either find out why the rates are higher now or find out ways to bring your price down even further.
I hope you'll give us the opportunity to help you save money and look forward to resolving your concerns.
Best regards,
Chris
I have used Autoslash for several years. Always saved a lot of money! No more! They must have been bought out by priceline or something. Now you haveto go through more steps and for the last 3 times in the past 4 months, they came down once after the initial priceline quote, and never nomore. Completely different than previously.
Hi Judith, thanks for your feedback. We most definitely weren't bought out by Priceline. The rental companies keep taking steps to block us from helping you find lower rates, and so we're not able to book directly anymore. However, one thing has not changed and will never change: our mission to help you find the lowest possible rates. Since we can't book directly, we now have to refer people to other sites where they can book the rates we find. Currently, Priceline's booking system is the best alternative option (other sites are missing a lot of functionality), so that's why we are currently referring people to Priceline--but we're working on adding other vendors, too, so you can book through the site of your choice. (We're also working on ways to streamline the process of booking and making sure you are able to easily keep us updated with what you're booked with so we can help you keep looking for even better deals.) In any case, though, we have not changed the method we use to_find_ the rates, only to_book_ the rates, so the rates we find now are still the same rates we found before. If you have any questions, please don't ever hesitate to reach out to us by email--we have a small but dedicated and *very* passionate team of super-experienced frequent travelers who love to share their passion for travel and help make sure you have the best possible rate. Just email us and we'll be glad to make sure you are taken care of. We look forward to helping you get the best possible rate on your car rental!
Autoslash is a must use if you are renting a car. I have saved thousands of dollars over the course of a year using Autoslash. Here is my story: I moved to North Caarolina to work as a wilderness guide, my schedule was one week in the woods and one week at home. When I moved, I could not afford a car, and was not sure of a solution to my need for transportation when I was off of work. Luckily for me, Autoslash appeared in my life just at that time! Just about every off-shift for the past year and a half, I have used Autoslash to book a car rental, typically at a price between $80-$115 per week. The opportunity to use Autoslash allowed me to drive in band-new cars, trucks, Jeeps, SUVs, all for a cost of about $200/month, while also keeping my car insurance costs low and car maintenance cost at $0, even though I would drive from western North Carolina down to South Florida, to Indianapolis, Chicago, Princenton, Chattanooga, and all through the southern states. I am so grateful for Autoslash, thanks so much! Highly recommended!
I have used autoslash at least a dozen times and have saved money almost every time. While the initial price quote may not seem much different that other websites, if you register your reservation, they let you know if a lower price becomes available for your dates (taking into account any discounts you are eligible for like AAA, etc.). If you choose to accept a lower rate, you do have to book at the lower rate and cancel the initial reservation. I always then followup with a phone call to the rental company to confirm the reservation and be sure my frequent renter number is added. I just saved $100 on a 3 day rental in Alaska because of autoslash. I've never had any difficulty picking up my car or being charged more than quoted. I love this website.
Ps you can register a reservation that you made yourself on another site or a reservation that you made through autoslash.
Autoslash rocks. Saved $170 for a week in Florida.
I saw this on US News & World Report and wanted to try it. As a test, I booked through my typical brand name car rental company for my Florida trip... 1 Week@ $466 (includes AAA discount).
Then I tried Autoslash. Their price (different rental company) was $380.
I reserved it.
I also "requested a quote". About 10 minutes later they emailed with a major rental company for $290 for the week. I re-booked it! AND, if the price drops, I will save more!
Super easy, big savings.
I decided to use a bunch of sites to get the best rate. This one pops up as the highest rated. The prices they came up with, after a half hour wait, were not anywhere near as low as several of their competitors. The other came up with better prices with a click, these guys make you give them personal information, wait for an email, and then come up with at least $5+ higher rates? So... I'd STRONGLY not recommend this at all!
Hey Douglas! The reason we email you the quote is that it takes a little time for us to search through and test the hundreds of coupon codes we have on file, so rather than make you stare at a blank web page for several minutes, we just email you an alert when we're done. We don't need any other personal information than your email address, and we only ever use that to notify you of your quote. No marketing or anything! (We hate spam as much as you do.)
While I'm confident that we are able to find and help you book some of the very best rates in the rental industry, if you've managed to find even better rates, that's great! Our goal is to make sure that people never overpay for their rental cars by booking the full retail rate when there are so many coupons out there that can discount your rental. It sounds like you didn't overpay, so that's awesome. As a completely free service, we're glad to be a tool in your belt to help you find the best prices, but ultimately, we're happy as long as you book the best deal. One thing, though--many other sites that have discounted car rentals make you prepay for them and charge a cancellation fee if your plans change. Our rates and reservations are just like normal non-prepaid rental car reservations, so there's no prepayment necessary and no penalty to change or cancel. Just wanted to make sure you have any surprises with your reservation.
Safe travels, and if you need anything, please don't hesitate to contact us--there's an easy form on our website, or you can reply to your quote email and we'll be glad to help!
Ive used AutoSlash for about two years and take two major vacations a year and other misc. Trips requiring a rental car. Last Spring during Spring Break, they saved me over $1000 on a two month rental. In November we are in Hawaii, they have our midsized car down to around $180 for a week... that includes taxes etc.
Love These guys.
When looking to book a car rental from the Savannah Airport, then the Burlington VT airport, for an August 2016 trip, I was met with some of the highest car rental fares this past summer... I started looking in May for rates, and everything was crazy expensive... so I booked and would keep checking, and if lower rates came out I'd book at the lower rate... who has this kind of time... while in this process, I came across Auto Slash... and their policy is to continue price checking up until your rental time... so I kept my reservations, and booked with AutoSlash... over time my Savannah rental for 10 days came down a total of $125 about half what it was originally, and my Burlington 5 day rental came down $20 (however the price over all went up nearly $100 on Burlington rentals). In all cases, I called in to each rental agency and confirmed my reservation, and could even go on line and find it... NOTE: there is an AutoSlash reservation number, AND a different confirmation number for the car rental company... use the rental car agency's confirmation number to find your reservation NOT the AutoSlash reservation number... I was able to print my reservations directly from the agency each rental was with... all pricing was honored... And trust me, since it was my first experience I double and tripled checked that this company was really getting me the best price... and it did! Way easier to use Auto Slash than having to monitor yourself for price drops and specials. I'll never use any other form of car rental booking again... so long as the same service is provided. And when I had questions, thru email, all email responses were handled quickly... the only thing that didn't work was when replying if one has a need for an 'urgent' response time, to reply with the existing correspondences with all the confirmation info in tact, I could NOT change the subject line to say 'urgent'. I actually had to start a new email thread... otherwise it was very easy to navigate, and communicate. Thank you Auto Slash!
Reservation for a Suburban in Honolulu on 7-22-2016. Got to Avis counter who said Auto Slash is "Scammers, Liars and Thieves. Would not honor the Avis reservation without us being a member of something we have never heard of. Charged us $800 more than what we had a reservation for. We called Avis 5 days ago and they verified the reservations.
Hey Stuart, sorry to hear of the hassle with Avis. I can understand your frustration. Our rates are guaranteed. If you can reach out to us by email, we'll be glad to follow up on this for you.
4 days before picking up a car rental that was reserved two weeks in advance, I received an email telling me my rental had gone up over $100 more than my original reservation. Fortunately, I was able to book my rental for an even lower price than I was quoted through Autoslash. How is it that the very online price I directly can get is lower than one quoted by Autoslash? To say the least, I feel totally ripped off by Autoslash and will not use them again.
Hi L S., sorry for any confusion. I'd be glad to look into this and see what happened. We're glad you found a lower rate (we just want you to get the best possible rate on your car--that's our mission, even if it's not through us!), but it sounds like there was some confusion. I'd like to get to the bottom of this and make sure it doesn't happen again. Can you reach out to us by email so we can take care of that for you?
Price was completely different from what was stated.
Hi Kelly B., we are glad to guarantee our rates. If you can reach out to us by email, we'll be glad to follow up and make sure you only pay what you were quoted in your reservation. Sincere apologies for the inconvenience.
Do not use this company. I was sent a price that I accepted. Several days later, they cancelled my reservation without asking me and made a new one for me that had fees that would increase the price by $200. After spending days writing emails and trying to call their customer service number, I still have no resolution.
Hi Lynda R., I'm really sorry to hear about your experience. I know it's been awhile since you wrote this, and I do apologize for not responding earlier. I looked through our entire email archive and can't find any record of any emails from you. Can you send us a message through our website (just click the "help" link at the top of the homepage), since it seems like the emails you sent may not have gotten delivered to us? I would love to make sure we get to the bottom of this and get this resolved for you. Again, I apologize for the confusion and will be glad to make sure you're taken care of.
Answer: Hi Paul, actually, we do! We've designed a pop-up that you have to read and accept before booking, where we tried to be as clear as possible: "Frequent renter membership numbers can't be added when booking, and program benefits may not apply." Certainly no intention at all to not disclose it, and we always strive to be 100% transparent and help our customers make the very best decision possible for their situation. If we can help with anything further, please don't hesitate to let us know!
Answer: Hi William! It sounds like you might be based outside of the US (assuming you mean "zero excess," not "zero access" -- that's typical European verbiage for what we in the US would call a "deductible"). We are based in the US and access most of our rates through US-based computer systems. Since most people in the US have either car insurance or credit cards which cover damage to rental cars, most rental car companies don't publish insurance-inclusive rates in the US. As such, the rates we find typically don't include coverage (except where local law includes it, such as in Italy). We're looking to make some changes in the future to help non-US residents find insurance-included rates, but I don't have an ETA on that at this time. You can always purchase coverage at the rental car counter when you pick up the car, and many travel insurance vendors sell rental car coverage for less than the rental companies do, so those are options to look into as well. Hope this helps! For better assistance, please email us directly through our site and we'll be glad to answer any questions you might have. Safe travels!
Answer: Hi Leonard! Yes, we only deal in "all-in" total prices after all mandatory taxes and fees.
Answer: Hi Shel! I did a quick check and see rates as low as $437.07 (and that's with much better companies than Advantage, like Budget, Alamo, and National), depending on which affiliations you qualify for. Head over to https://www.autoslash.com/track and put your existing Advantage information in, and we'll make sure we're looking at exactly the same details to help you find the best rate. Thanks!
Answer: Hi Shel, yep! See my response on your other post. Looks like we can save you a bit over $100. :)
Answer: To check rental rates, just head over to https://www.autoslash.com/quote, or to compare with an existing booking (and get alerts if the price drops in the future), plug your details into https://www.autoslash.com/track. Thanks!
Answer: Hi Vaugan! That will depend on which rental company you choose. Most of the major brands are located on airport in the P2 and P3 parking garages. The P2 and P3 garages are connected to Terminal B by the free AirTrain monorail. A couple of the smaller vendors require a shuttle to an off-airport location. Usually the directions for picking up the car are shown in the booking policies when you book, and you'll want to ask your rental agent for details on how to return your vehicle. Hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team directly through our website.
Answer: Hey Susan! A reservation booked with any rental company through any source is treated 100% the same. So whether you book through Priceline, Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, RentalCars.com, or even directly at the rental car company's own website, your reservation is 100% confirmed in the rental company's reservation system. (In fact, agents have to go to an extra screen to even see where it was booked--it looks exactly the same on their end no matter where it was booked.) That means that if we help you find a discounted rate and you book it through one of our supported vendors (like Priceline), it will be 100% the same as if you had booked it directly through the rental car company's own site--just cheaper! If you end up being told at the rental counter that they're sold out and they can't get you a car right away, we have an article with some helpful tips on how to overcome that here: http://support.autoslash.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2157150-what-happens-if-the-rental-company-is-sold-out. Note that the suggestions in that article work exactly the same whether you booked through one of our supported vendors or even directly on the rental car company's website. And if you get to the rental car counter and are told the price is different than you reserved, the best thing to do is be sure you have a screenshot or printout of your reservation directly on the rental company's own website (which you can get from their site even if you booked through a third-party agency), as that's the gold standard, and hang on to that in case you still need to contact the rental company's customer service department later on. Again, this is the same whether you've booked through a third-party travel agency or booking site or even on the rental company's own site--as a former rental car manager myself, I can tell you that glitches and errors can happen just the same no matter where you book the car. I hope this helps! For specific information, please feel free to reach out to us directly through our site and we're glad to look at your reservation and give you any further advice. We're super responsive!
Answer: Hey Bernadette, the TotalPrice is the total price including all taxes and fees for the full rental time as booked. So, the total would be $71.58 for the full two-day rental. I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, the best thing to do is contact us by replying to the email we sent you or contacting us through our site--that's both faster as well as more secure when discussing details about your specific reservation. Safe travels!

AutoSlash offers cheap car rentals, discounts and coupons from top brands like Hertz, Avis, National, Enterprise, Budget, Dollar, Thrifty and others.
Hi Jason, sincere apologies for the hassle and for our contact form freezing.
I'm having trouble finding your inquiry from the information here (we've had over 100 different inquiries from Jasons in the past 48 hours, so finding yours is a little tough!), but if you can reply to the email quote we sent you or send a message to support@autoslash.com, we can definitely look at your request and see if we can help you book the rate we found for you. Sometimes the rental car companies' systems don't work like they should (trust me, I used to work in IT for one of the rental car companies!), but our support team made up of experienced travel hackers and former rental car employees is usually able to push the right buttons and get things working.
We look forward to hearing back from you and helping you get the best possible rate booked!
