I had a ton of questions that I had which were realllllly dumbed down becauseI didn't even know what a title company was or a lien etc or how anything worked when buying or being in an auction and he was such a pleasure! I am sure it was not easy for him to answer all of my questions because Im sure most already know these things but he said questions are essential to learning and being a teacher thats also my philosophy! He persisted and gave me all the info I needed!
The greatest Costumer Service ever I have noticed. I asked too many questions regarding Auctions and biding process and the representative answered my questions very friendly. I feel so good and I trust these people. Thank you so much.
This is not an auction at all. They, according to their own rules, can manipulate anything that even approaches the appearance of a legitimate auction model. Read their following words," Until the seller's reserve price is met, Auction.com may counter bid on behalf of the seller. Counter bidding gives buyers and sellers more flexibility to find a mutually agreeable price. Counter bids do not occur after the seller's reserve price is met."
Until their "reserve price" is met, they can bid up others bidding on the site - even if there is just one other bidder. On top of that holding deposits?
Bridgeport, CT bid just took place on house that was worth 100k and it went for $151,911. For an investor there is no upside. For a homeowner it needs $50k put into it, thus no upside. Go buy a house that has already been done.
Do not do business with this company. They lie and do not communicate with the buyer. It's as if the left hand and don't know what the right hand is doing. I bid and won the bid on 4008 s Indigo in Harvey, Louisiana. On 5/18/2020. I submitted my proof of funds on 5/17/2020. I then wired the 5% of purchase price, $5135. 00 to the address and account they provided On 5/24. I finally was able to ask for a supervisor at Brightline to help me get my refund.
My name is Lovie Mcgee
Recently there was a property that I was interested in bidding on. The bidding was to be from the 17th to the 19th of February. I went to place a bid and the property was not there. I contacted them and they said that it had been sold at pre auction. I did not see anything about a pre auction when I was researching.
This is not fair nor ethical. I did not get a chance to bid. When I asked who had purchased the property they would not tell me. How can they get away with such underhanded dealings? I cannot believe this is legal,
They say they place a hold on the account for that money, but they actually withdraw the money immediately. When you ask to get your money back, because you didn't win the bid, they tell you it will be returned the Saturday after the auction ends, but note that it may take 1-5 days after that to return to your bank. If they can take it immediately, why do they not return it immediately? Do they take your money so that they can earn interest on it and they hold it as long as they can for that purpose? When I used the chat, because you can't actually talk to a live person, Mary J. Did not feel the least bit concerned that I would post this review, go to the BBB and report them to the bank. So, let's see if Mary J. Cares afterward. Stay away from this site. They are crooks.
A $2500 credit or debit card hold (Bid Deposit) is required to bid on a bank-owned property on Auction.com. The hold doesn’t appear as a charge to your credit card and appears as a pending transaction on your debit card. The hold is typically removed the Saturday following the auction event, but please check with your financial institution for confirmation of available funds/credit. In some cases, releases may take a longer period of time.
You can register for multiple properties with just one $2500 bid deposit, provided they are all in the same auction event. Please note that all the properties registered for an event must complete the current seven day auction cycle before the bid deposit can start the process of being released. If a property is auctioned in subsequent events and you are interested in bidding, you will need to authorize a separate credit or debit card hold.
I read most of the feedback from previous bidders & buyers on Auction.com and I experienced the same situation, there website automatically bids against you on a bid to drive the price up so they can charge a high fee with there %, I'm kind of feeling scammed out of my money, I prefer to deal with the bank or Realtor instead of giving my hard earned money to these people.
I made a offer of 220k on this property before it went up for auction on auction.com, I made 4 bids and each was auto counter bid until my final bid of 225k, then auction.com wanted 11K cash wired to there attorney asap for their fee. This is what I seen on the property today while I was in the area after signing the contract, these auction for sale sign was not on this property 2 weeks ago, stay away from auction.com
Hi Larry. Thank you for your review. As disclosed in the Auction.com Participation Terms and property details page, Auction.com is permitted to bid on behalf of the seller up to, but shall not exceed, the reserve price and these bids are disclosed. Counter bidding on behalf of the seller extends the auction increasing the likelihood that the auction will produce an offer that the seller is willing to accept to the benefit the bidders.
Would you mind clarifying on the $11k fee? Was this your earnest money deposit? Would you mind sharing the property address so we can look into this for you?
Great experience. The agent helped me and provided a customer service number for me to call.
Great experience much better than calling and being transfered from option 1 to option3 back to option 1 on the automatic phone system
This site should get negative zero stars, I won a bid, paid my earnest money, and was assigned a closing attorney. After waiting 15 days, I was told the seller(bank of america) had not signed the contract, after waiting 20 days, I got a rejection notifcation letter, I was told by the closing attorney to contact aution.com, I was told by auction.com, maybe I should submit a counter offer, this site is a real... joke, do not waste your time.
This company is absolutely horrible and unethical. I won a house at auction, and i went to pay. They sent me over a ridiculous contract that stated, specifically, that I agreed and acknowledged that they had been given me 7 days to inspect the property, including the inside, and that I had access to the property and had completed a thorough interior and exterior inspeciton.
Of course, I did NOT have access to the inside, and Auction.com refused to provide me with access! They refused to strike that part of the contract. They DEMANDED that I sign a statement saying they had provided me with access, while simultaneously in the same email, denying me access! Totally unethical!

I was pressured into a quick arm twisting decision from offer acceptance to fully executed contract, that's roughly half way trough the process. I wanted to take title but was in process on LLC doc's from division of state, I was treatened if I didnt perform under my personal name, I would forfeit my deposit / earnest money deposit. I can't believe just how terrible its been getting midway through the deal from staff all the way up to supervisor / managing staff. I gave them 1 star because that was the lowest grade I could give SMH in total disgust.

I bid on a property but I wasn't aware of the fact that it was a cash only listing. I didn't have all the cash and I couldn't go through with the purchase. Since it was my first bidding on Auction.com, they returned my $2500 deposit. I should have done my homework prior bidding I think it was entirely my fault. Also the contract specialist was very helpful and nice to me and my husband, he helped a lot with our situation. Thank you!
This company potentially put my family at risk! Posted pictures of my house online when the house in fourcloser is in a different section of my neighborhood. The only reason I know about it is bcause a friend saw it online. How does that make me look? Not to mention that I have no idea who might be looking into my windows when I'm away. I have a 1 year old at the house. Soooo mad.
I read the reviews here and figured I was wasting my time but took a chance because it was my dream home. Customer service got ahold of me right away, Closing was expedited by Auction.com. I kept waiting for my realtor to call my and say sorry... but it never happened. There was a lot of entities I never heard of involved in this transaction but they all seemed to work well together. I paid ******* for my house and with all the other fees it was *******. The house is worth around 600k-629k but I have no intention on selling it. Do your homework and keep your eyes open and maybe it will work for you too.
I did not bid, but came very close to falling for this scam. I went to the courthouse and verified the banks ownership and noticed on the website that the property said non-financable and cash only. I got suspicious as to the cash only and called the bank, they said that property was not listed as a foreclosure at the moment and transferred me to another agent who didn't know they owned the property. Since it was so recent it appeared it was probably in their processing. The bank said all their foreclosures were on their website, this property was not listed. I contacted Auction.com and they would not provide me any information verifying the seller or my complaint. I backed off and said this is a scam... Buyers beware of these people, they have done their research ahead of time in the public records of the courthouse and intend to screw you out of your money. DO NOT TRUST THEM!
I was participant of community thread their "transparency" where customers to communicate with other customers feature.
To be fair thead was to discuss desceptive practices users have experienced with site and thread was "locked" by administration so no further commentary could be made on subject by admins.
Company blatantly misleads customers and actively blocks users from providing experiences that are not to their benefit to future users.
Well after seriously considering bidding on one of the homes listed on Auction.com, after reading the reviews I am most certainly going to PASS ON THAT. There are definitely not enough positive reviews for me to even waste my time.
As realtor for a property put on Auction.com by lender, I shared Disclosures of environmental contamination, mold reports, and over $70k in liens. Auction.com refused to put certified reports om their site.
They also put the home's "highest past value' at over $2M when all short sale offers were under $200k, and no homes nearby have sold over $500k in the best of shape.
Auction.com is fraudulent, Great deals, but Buyer beware on everything. They misrepresent everything.
My first time with auction.com
Had bid twice from my home computer. Planned to bid in the final minutes up to my maximum price but my bid would not go through. Got auction.com on the phone for the final minutes, totally shooken and frustrated, to be told I could not bid using an iPad.
This should be prominently displayed with the rules. Was told by auction.com employee that I should have KNOWN I couldn't bid using an iPad. SD
Answer: I believe that the average potential buyer does not do their DUE diligence AHEAD of time. I first, read all the documents attached to the property I was interested in. Second, I drove by the property to check things out. Third, I went to the county recording office to see if there were any liens against them. Fourth, I ran the comps for the houses in the neighborhood and look at the rating for the schools within the district. Fifth, know what your limit is on what your final bid will be and do not bid over that amount just to win the auction. Other tips, try to get ahold of the agent that is representing the property and just ask them if they are willing to let you see the property inside, all they can say is no, right? I hope this helps. Wait, miscellaneous stuff, It is true, all auctions on this site are STRICKLY in favor of the seller... Negotiating is near to none.
Answer: The bank can and will bid against you to get a higher price (shilling). Read the web site. This practice is illegal everywhere else. But get the banks a higher price.
Answer: If you win the auction it is a binding contract. Contracts are to be E signed within like 2hrs I think. Most are sold as is. Due your homework before you buy! Mark
Answer: Have your real estate agent search title. If the property is occupied, you will have to get the people out yourself.
Answer: May we please have the property address you are inquiring about?
Answer: It means that the sale did not go though, there could be many reasons. And they are so opaque you will never find out what the reason was... maybe no financing, maybe spam bidding, maybe the seller backed out...
Auction.com has a rating of 1.9 stars from 434 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Auction.com most frequently mention real estate, earnest money and customer service. Auction.com ranks 174th among Auction sites.
