What a screwed up company. They were suppose to port over my existing cell number to my new phone and was told it would automatically be activated. Wrong! I was left with no active cell

Abuse
September 3, 2020

Jan 22.21 my app. Was sent to assurance wireless by mail. Waited so long to get a response. Later I called the national verification center and was told that my app. Was approved and was given a confirmation number then was instructed to call assurance wireless to have my phone shipped to me. I talked to david( customer service representative ') who confirmed to me that my phone will be shipped to me whitin 10 days. After 15 days no phone arrived. Later I called in and talked to Amy ( customer service representative) who put me on hold for a while then she asked me to file another application. It weird and strange this type of abuse. I explained to her my app. Was filed sent in and approved and I should receive my phone as David told me. She said no, you have to file a new one. I said either David and national verification center laied to me or you laying to me. She said David laied to you. Later I called the national verification center and they confirmed to me again that my app. Was received and was confirmed and they gave me the confirmation number. Now it over 3 moths and no phone was shipped to me. This act of abuse and misconduct has to be investigated and lawful action should be taken against those taking advantage of innocent sick people...

I've had assurance wireless for quite a few years. It use to be very good. It's now a nightmare. The first
"free smart phone" I was sent (I had to reapply when I moved to California) was obviously a returned phone that
Doesn't work. So, I purchased another phone from them that was supposedly "reconditioned". It cost more than
A pre-certified phone. It was a phone that was returned probably from an unhappy owner. Not only was it
Not reconditioned, it was still active with the last buyer. It took many hours and countless phone calls to
Get a refund despite sending it back and verifying that Assurance had received it. The problem was only fixed
When I finally got to speak to a real human being. In order to do this, I read countless blogs to find a way to
"trick" the system into talking to a human being. None of the tricks worked, but I tried several of my own and
Finally I got an operator. IT SUCKS TO BE POOR - WHY MUST WE BE PUNISHED EVEN MORE!

Horrible option
August 31, 2020

As a disabled customer, I've been trying to apply for 8 months. I've been approved through the national verifier since I began but assurance has always found a reason to deny me. I've turned in all the paperwork they've requested but the denial letter comes dated before my 'return by' date.
I did finally get my approval last week and received my phone yesterday. So far, I've had 16 different companies call me. They sell your number to solicitors and waste your allotted minutes. Your email information is also sold as sincemy application was approved, I've gotten countless emails from various organizations and political campaigns.
This is not the kind of thing that's useful for someone who is disabled and struggling to survive. They take advantage of those who need phone assistance without caring if the minutes they're allowing to be wasted might be needed.
If you have another option, choose that instead.

In August of 2020, I complained of assurance withholding my 33 dollar and 3 cent payment for added data. After two weeks they called me back and restored my data. Saying it was an "error" in their system. After that, my phone is swamped with spam calls, scam calls, and unwanted text messages. So my advise to future customers of assurance is don't complain or you will be punished.

Pure Unhappiness
August 19, 2020

Wow. I wish I'd read the reviews here before I signed up.
I had been happily using a cheap non-Lifeline phone and plan from another company with no issues for years. A friend talked me into giving Assurance Wireless a try.
The phone started malfunctioning from the start. The setup was nothing like the instructions described. The phone and charger both reached melting point in 2.7 seconds. Then, the phone wouldn't get on my Wi-Fi. Then, it used up all my data updating itself, which included adding a bunch of bloatware. Then... this. Then... that. What a frustrating mess!
Assurance customer service was no help. All I wanted from them was help getting on my Wi-Fi, and they couldn't or wouldn't do it. They were also pretty rude, which I don't hold against them too much as I imagine they're slaves in some other country making pennies a day, if that. After an afternoon of repeated calls with them, they told me they'd call me back, and never did.
One day was plenty, thank you very much. I'm done. I don't have enough time left on this earth to waste it dealing with this nonsense. I destroyed my phone and threw it into the trash where it belongs. I'd rather go without and spare myself the aggravation of Assurance Wireless. Now, excuse me while I go give my friend a stern scolding.

They must have an exclusive contract with some shoddy used phone company to supply their the only authorized phones. If Assurance Wireless allowed any unlocked phone to be activated, I'd give them a 5 star rating.

I have gone through 13 different phones from this company. Every single time has been because the phone battery either stopped charging or the charger on the phone just quit working. These phones are low quality and bad designed pieces of junk. One of the phones would heat up so much it shut it self off to cool down. On the other hand, the service is terrible. I would literally lose connection in my house. It didn't matter where I went or traveled, the service would always be terrible. Also many of the phones, at least 6 of them, would freeze up constantly! I had to take the freaking battery out of the phone to unfreeze it! Another complaint is the phones are very weak. At least 5 of the phones cracked from dropping it about 1-2 feet in the air. That just shows you how poorly the phones are designed.

Bad phones
August 7, 2020

Day 1, phone calls slow to connect or wouldn't. I didn't receive text messages until 2 days later. Arrived with virus. Contacted them several times. Reset phone doesn't work. Last time -4 correspondences later they told me to open my phone and rub inside with an eraser. I give up. The discontinued phones are crap and so is their CS.

They hire csr's that are not able to speak or understand English. They ask for documentation repeatedly and when you send it, it makes no difference. Been without phone for 5 months during a pandemic, just hung up from speaking with them in tears. Terrible service, non caring service reps. I have provided them with everything they asked, repeatedly.
More than qualify, been a customer for years and they decide I didn't send in recertification, never received one.

I paid for $20 of data which is 4gbs. I then went to add it. Next day it was gone. They said I took it back which I never did. Checked my bank and they took it. The second girl that helped was friendly enough to give me 1gb. The first girl hungup on me.

Supervisor still "busy"?
July 15, 2020
Updated review

A day later and the Supervisor who was "busy" yesterday still hasn't called. TMobile must have bought this crappy company because the Government contract is secure whether they are efficient or not.

Date of experience: July 15, 2020

I just got off the phone with Assurance(now t-mobile) customer service, AGAIN. I have a plan with 1000 minutes, unlimited texts, and NO internet. I told them I don't need or want the internet data, but I need the minutes and texts for work. Well, once again they changed my plan without telling me to a plan with 350 minutes, texts, and 3 GB of internet data. They just can't seem to understand someone who doesn't want or need the internet on their phone. It doesn't help that their customer service is in Columbia and every other person I talk to doesn't have a mastery of the English language. To make it worse, after they admit their mistake they say they can't fix it until the FOLLOWING month, but they suggest I BUY minutes from them to keep my service until next month. WHAT A JOKE.

The Asurance UMX phones are full of malware, heat up all the time, and will not hold a charge! They aren't even worth $1, let alone $25.
If you want a replacement phone, forget it. You'll either have to wait or buy another of their other over expensive worthless phones!
