I was assigned Tara Luck and all she did was send me a link that I could put my zip code in to find places close to me. Which I could of done that myself. When I asked for more help she never returned my email. I thought you were supposed to help people find place to stay.
Hattie is a pleasure to work with and know. She educated me on placement resources and services. She is a good soul and "A Place for Mom" is lucky to have her. She is professional, personable knowledgeable and kind. Thank you Hattie for your kindness and professionalism. I appreciate you.
Would like to let you know that Dorthys cares is a wonder place for our loved one.
They take such good care of their residents in health concerns and also their social events.
Thank you

Immediately after logging onto the site, I was asked for my email and phone number. I did NOT ask for a phone call. A pop up told me I was going to receive a phone call. There was no way to stop it. I was busy with errands and other things all weekend... including taking care of Mom. Everywhere I went my phone was blowing up with calls from this place. At times I answered it, just because I wanted to tell them to STOP... but there was no one on the other end. I feel it was a huge mistake entering this website and giving this company my phone number. The entire weekend including Sunday, it just never stopped. The last call a woman who barely spoke English left a message on the voicemail that it was the LAST call. Finally... Peace.
Before my mother passed away, I tried to get her into A Place for Mom here in Victorville, California. She had dementia. Unfortunately, they would not take her because she was too poor. I could not afford to pay for her costly private care they wanted. She ended up going to a public facility in Redlands, which was also horrible.
The reviews for the assisted living facility Ella Springs Houston TX that I pay for my mom's "care" every month should be rated 1 - 2 S instead of 4 as rated on "A Place For Mom." From my research for a place for my mom, I discovered these ratings must have a quid pro quo with highly rated facilities. No other explanation came from my research of many facilities.
Place for Mom recommended 5 top places for our mom. We chose Cherryvale Place. They were very nice at first but as time went one mom did get the care she deserved at the price they were charging. When she passed only the workers gave their condolences. It was like the director and marketing person didn't care. When we had issue it took forever to getting any answers. We are very disappointed. We should have done a lot more research.
I called A Place for Mom not knowing that they were a referral service. I naively gave out all our information early in the call. When I told them that I had already done some looking, they wanted to know where, and I figured out that it was because they couldn't get commissions on those places. I got a bad vibe and told them I wasn't interested. The next week, when following up with one of the places we were considering, they said they were surprised that I was calling because A Place for Mom had sent them an email telling them I had selected another provider! Weird, untrue, and unhelpful. I had only begun my search and was NOT using their services.
I loved the smell and cleaness of the place. The staff was very polite and caring. The apartment was very pretty set up of how i could have my furniture.
They referenced 3 places from 1-3 year minimum private pay before they accept them as Medicaid. Problem is they may not get Medicaid after meeting the Assisted Living minimum. Also, you could end up on a wait list after meeting Medicaid criteria to apply. Then your broke and can't private pay anymore. What does that leave some nursing home to dump them in. Or you find out your monthly income is too much because Patriot Angel was referenced to help with private pay if you qualify for VA benefits. Medicaid should also do their look back before you spend down if they are going to disqualify you for giving a graduation gift as an example. While listening to an Assisted Living spell out the additional cost of 1000 a month for doing their laundry, extra house cleaning, etc. Not that it was an issue but they don't take individuals with addictions so perhaps they should ask that as well. If you don't have to worry about that their probably alright.
Placed my mom in a home recommended by APFM. Staff was inadequately trained... made med errors the first two days. Meals were substandard... could not approach staff with concerns bc they would avoid me. Could not get out of there fast enough and that establishment has since sued us for not paying the full month's payment... looked great from the outside but not what it seemed.
Its difficult to be sure that your making right decision, when looking for place where your family member will be, well taken care of! But with this service A Place or MOM, they gave me multiple names of qualified caregivers in the area I was looking! I went to check out 6 or 7 landed on this Palliative home called Loving Heart Senior Care, owned by Rocky & Micheal! They were such a blessing! Could never made a better choice, for my Father he was treated like family, what a weight lifted from my shoulders! Dr. & nurses came to house to do check ups! They treated him with Dignity & Love, I could sleep at night knowing he was in good hands!
I was looking for Assisted Living facilities for someone I know. I called A Place For Mom thinking they would be able to offer some assistance. They just wanted a bunch of personal information, and then after a long conversation, they basically told me the same stuff I had already learned by doing a Google search. They did not have a list of places which had opening, those places still had to be contacted, and when I started to ask the rep from A Place For Mom, my own questions, she just hung up. I was so disappointed, It is easier to find what you need by Google searching and making your own phone calls and sending emails. I do NOT recommend A Place For Mom.
My mother doesn't have a lot of money. They were supposed to send me some options. Instead, they sent me an email saying she should look into medicare options and they couldn't provide me options. My husband and I were willing to help with the cost, but they just wrote us off. I cried when I received their email.
Most of their advisors do nothing to help families find a place for their loved ones. All they do is get your info and pass it along several communities and then keep on calling to find out where you moved so they can collect money from the assisted living that you chose. Very dishonest company. They demand pay from assisted living once someone moved into that facility, even thou they don't help at all the families, with anything. ( A few advisors are doing their job though). For the most part, they are scammers. Do yourself a favor and google assisted living facilities for yourself instead of using crocks that all they want is MONEY!
I wish I could give them no stars, as that's what I got from them - nothing. Nothing but hundreds of phone calls from places that aren't in the area we are looking. After about six to 9 months of taking calls from places they sold my name to I get a barrage of calls from a place for mom insisting on knowing where we moved our loved one - even thought they did nothing to actually help us find a suitable place. I assume they get paid a fee - for doing nothing. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this scam of a "service"
I had an urgent case. I left a few messages and got a generic water downed response, a written message. No care no personal touch...
Only about the money.
A place for Mom let's people add positive reviews on homes they have contracts with but they won't let the negative reviews get posted. Our mom was abused in Thousand Oaks and the owner's friend posted a fake positive review. They wouldn't remove it or add our truth. We even have copy of state violations & pic of stage 3 bedsore.
We were referred to an assisted living facility, The Bridges of Charleston, it was horrible. The staff are rude, don't do their jobs, charges for services not provided. Residents were talked to ugly, never answered call lights. Took days to get any results on a kidney infection. No help with baths, no reminders for going to meals, no assistance in putting up clothes or making beds. No real activities provided. Walls have been plastered for over a month, the building floods. I guess it would be great for someone who could do everything for themselves, if your family member can't or is confused don't go here. It was the worst healthcare I have witnessed in my over 30 years of being a Registered Nurse. So glad I am moving my mom out. Almost $3000 a month wasted on this place. Thankfully I am able to bring her home with me and use her money for real care. Please look at these facilities before sending someone there.
These website is completely misleading, they immediately bombard you with text, email and phone calls. They can text and email but you cannot respond. Phone call or nothing, pushy, rude, heard nothing I said, just kept talking, may as well been taking to a robot. I've never been so disgusted with a company that is supposed to help. All they are worried about is the $ for their commission.

Answer: In the Greater Louisville (Kentuckianna) metro area there are several I can recommend you consider based on our tour of recommended facilities in Southern Indiana. As residents of Southern Indiana, just across the river from Louisville, we chose Silvercrest in New Albany Indiana. They offer independent living in freestanding apartments as well as assisted living and also more complete care for those needing it. We also really liked Traditions at Hunters' Station in Sellersburg which has identical options, and Bennett House in Clarksville, which offers assisted living and additional services but does not have independent living. Some of these do have limited Medicaid beds in their nursing facilities.
