I think so called "professionals" use Angi as a scam.
Booked for an AC service. The guy never showed, claimed he was there. I was outside in front of my home when he texted me he was there and no one was in sight. I took a picture. He cancelled 8 minutes later saying I wasn't there. Anji forces you to pay full price for that. DO NOT USE ANGI. Use at your own risk.
Anji had me rebooked. But the next guy was three counties away. Thank god I contacted him. He said that by the way it was booked, won't be able to help me. This Angi professional said the Angi platform SUCKS, and suggested that I cancel and contact a local pro.
They miss lead you take your money and leave you penniless. They say you will get so many calls for your business and if they don't have calls for your business they will send you calls that don't apply to your business or are not equipped for.
Angie likely changed her name from Angie's List to try to get away from all the bad work done from bad Angie's list. I had a generator company referred to me off of Angie's List and totally got ripped off. When I tried to contact Angie's List about my problem I couldn't get anyone to help me. I'd like to explain everything here but there's not enough space. I strongly urge all to use the Better Business Bureau.
Do not use these people let me just save you the trouble the pro so-called pro no thank you the person they sent out here to do my lawn and lawn care of my landscaping to trim the bushes up with one weed eater leaves an entire mess doesn't even mow doesn't do the backyard and then when you try to call customer service person from every other country but America try to add photos and videos, but it's not accepting just a normal picture taken from an iPhone says the file is too big
I am deeply dissatisfied with the treatment I received and believe it's crucial to bring these issues to your attention to prevent others from falling victim to similar tactics.
Before signing up for Angies Ads's program, I was assured that I would be the exclusive service provider listed under the "docks" category. This assurance was key to my decision, but it turned out to be a blatant lie and a clear case of fraudulent misrepresentation. I was misled into believing I would have a unique position, only to discover this was false.
Angies Ads' practices are not just misleading but outright deceptive. They promised one thing over the phone to secure my business and then failed to deliver. This is a clear breach of contract and a violation of consumer protection laws. Despite repeated requests, they refuse to release the recorded phone calls from the interview, raising further concerns about their transparency.
When I sought to resolve this issue and requested to be released from the contract, Angies Ads demanded a 35% cancellation fee of the total contract amount. They have also threatened to send my company into collections if I do not comply. This aggressive behavior is unacceptable and highlights their focus on profits over fairness.
My interactions with my client manager, Malaika, have been frustrating. She has been overly blunt and abrasive, showing little interest in resolving this amicably. It's clear that Angies Ads is more interested in trapping customers in binding contracts than providing a service worth the exorbitant fees.
I am seeking your assistance in holding Angies Ads accountable for their deceptive practices. By addressing this, other potential customers might be spared the distress and financial harm I've experienced.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
They get you to join, give you a good price, and the 1st contractor wanted to come early. Which was OK, never show and canceled for the 2nd date. A new contractor was assigned and he wanted to postpone it the day of. I canceled everything with them and demanded my joining up money back.
The best thing was I received all of my money back.
I can not recommend Angi for anything. You are better off grabbing a contractor in the Lowes or Home Depot parking lot.
I own a small carpet cleaning company start up. The sales person lied through their teeth to me. I'm paying $800 a month for a whole bunch of fake scammer leads. The customer service is horrible. I get fake scam lead after fake scam lead and they do nothing about it. I just keep getting charged. In order to cancel it will cost me over $3000, do not believe the sales person because they lie and say whatever they think they need to get you to sign on the dotted line. There is no way out of the contract besides to pay 30% of whatever's left. This has been an expensive mistake. Do not do it.
I scheduled a duct/vent cleaning service through Angi last week. I wanted them to pick the contractor, just a qualified person, and they gave me a reasonable quote. I accepted. I got a confirmation of a match (the first on Friday October 4 at 8:41 am) for today - October 10, at 8 am. Later that same day, I got a second confirmation at 5:12 pm. I was puzzled at this, but OK. On Monday, October 7, I got a third confirmation at 11:55 am. Puzzled, I went online and looked at my booking, and yes, there was the named contractor - I sent him a message basically just acknowledging that I knew he was my contractor. All looked fine - and I spent a lot of time on Tuesday moving furniture and other stuff so there was clear access to every vent, vacumed each room, cleared pathways from any doorway they might need to use, etc. At 6:15 am - I get a text that my booking starts at 8:00 am. Then at 7:30 am, I get a text message that "unfortunately we were unable to match you with a top-rate pro for your service... we have rescheduled you for Sunday October 13 at 3 pm...". Thirty minutes notice that NO ONE was going to show for an appointment confirmed right through yesterday. I cancelled that booking, and now they won't let me write an honest review, because I didn't actually "hire" the contractor! So my honest review goes here. I will hire someone else, because Angi has wasted a good bit of my time, and I have no confidence at all that anyone will show up on Sunday either.
Scum of the crop. Tried to put a guilt trip on me for refusing to get them hundreds of dollars before approving my account. His name is Sean. I'll be contacting the main office (here in Indianapolis).
The whole experience is terrible - I will never use them again!
From the guy on the phone quoting the work telling me my card would not be charged until work done - not true! The charge went through the same day of the call with him.
The pro rescheduled via text and then I contacted him to confirm and he asked me to send him my address?
Look at this hack job … he installed a bathroom ceiling exhaust fan into an empty space where an identical fan had been. The surrounding area was damaged as a result of his work … just hideous and terrible craftsmanship and pride in work see pictures
It's a turkey shoot at best. You never know what you're going to get. Handyman, Crew, homeless guy trying to earn a few bucks - who knows? The customer service is the pitts. It's impossible to reach anyone that can actually help. Just minimum wage automatons reading from the script, reciting the same unhelpful lines. Use these guys if you must.
We booked a job through Angie's list and when the handyman came by he didn't have a ladder (which specified he would need). We still got charged and I have been on the phone with customer service for an hour. They won't give a refund and are trying to make me reschedule with another handyman. This is beyond disbelief, if a job doesn't get done then I should not be charged $300. I've rented my own ladder and will do this myself. I'll never use this service again.
We have been a 5 star rated pro. Even leaving today after over 5 years with them. I was told that my contact was up from Home Advisors. So I would now need to pay over triple the amount of money to stay with them. Recently I also found that they were also partnered with very small companies to make other money by doing the jobs. So who knows how long I have been in competing with them while still paying them! Way to forget about the good contractors that helped build your business and kept five star reviews for over five years. Thanks for nothing!
After spending tons of time on completing their background check I was able to secure one job and put it into my calendar.
3 hours before the job began I got an unexpected SMS asking to confirm the job and offering extra $15 bonus. The job got cancelled automatically. This was completely unexpected.
I don't have a regular habit of checking SMS daily.
I tried to reach out their support and call Angie to clarify the situation. Their phone support switches between departments without any help: nobody wants to take a responsibility. In the end they told me that there are several Angie companies under one umbrella: Angie Services, Angie Leads and Angie Ads and I'm calling through the wrong company. They gave me the email which bounced.
Reaching support through the chat didn't get any results either: there is a bot system which is hard to get through.
A lot of efforts spend for nothing, don't recommend
I have been, until recently, a long-time advertiser of what was Angie's List. I have had nothing but 5 star reviews and would hope that I would be the kind of advertiser they would be happy to have. Their customer service has always been mediocre at best, but it has gotten completely horrible - I wait a week or more to get any kind of response to a question from my "Client Success Manager", if I ever hear from him at all. I finally got fed up and cancelled my current contract, paying a steep penalty, but they are continuing to charge my credit card. And guess who is the only person I can contact about this - my "Client Success Manager" who never returns any messages, including about these charges. Beyond frustrating - never advertise with them and save yourself the frustration!
I filled out the information needed, took photos, and gave a detailed description of the work needed. I was given a quote, and a date. When the worker arrived, he expressed, he did not want to do the job, because it was too much. I was then charged $800 and told that a refund will not be issued. They even offered to reschedule and charge me again. I have since given up with customer service, and reported the incident to my bank for further investigation.
I booked service for assembling two large pieces of furniture. For this, I paid $275. When my guy showed up, his understanding was that he'd receive $125 for assembling one item, not two. He did the work anyway. Since this was clearly Handy's fault, I thought it would be a simple thing to have them give him the money he was owed. But no. When I contacted support, I was told that the onus was on him. He showed up expecting one thing and got another. The idea that a 1/2 billion dollar company would not reimburse this poor guy is absolutely disgusting. Unethical. I will never use Handy again and suggest that you do the same. Unbelievable.
We Received a Swimming pool company through Angie list called Clear Water Pool Service they started out great. For the 1st 6 months. My day of service kept changing, then they would no call no show. They guaranteed to clean filter 3 times a year and only did it 1 time, and when they did clean my filters, they were so green and filled with mold. Then my pool stared to get yellow mustard stains he cleaned it but i kept coming back. When it got really bad The Company Quite servicing my pool and they still owe me $$ for the two weeks they never showed, and they will not return my calls. I am now paying $ 530.00 to fix this. I will be reporting them and try and get my $$ back,
I was contacted by a guy named Adrian, who claimed to be a Senior Manager. He called and told me that he was offering me a deal for the service including, $300 off free leads along with some additional premium tool features for the account. I paid for the $100 because previously the service was $300. I went through the background check two different times. Adrian was calling saying everything looked good on the account and everything was good. That's when I noticed I was charged two times of $100. I called Adrian again and again he said this too was a mistake. So at this point I'm getting Leary off the service. Once I identified the issues charged to my account. Adrian never returned my phone calls. I never heard about what I paid my money for. It was a complete scam and they stole $200 from me. Imagine coming to grow your business and someone steals from you along the way. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! SCAM
Like Customer and provider I know how sketchy this company is with the home providers that sale the leads or services of promotion. The "professional" that's going to your house are already spending money just to have the leads and they going to do everything in their power to got the JOB. But remember they already charge that plumber, electrician, painters... and they have to make that money back plus profit. Sometimes if they can charge enough for the job they going to cut corners where you like client without the knowledge can't tell. This is truth is better to call your local company directly.
Answer: You'll have to contact the website directly. They don't monitor the Sitejabber website. Try to see if you can get them to delete your profile. If not, I would contact the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General's office or another state law enforcement office in your state. This sounds like fraud to me (but, I'm not a lawyer).
