American musical supply is the reason my recording studio was possible. They have a large selection of the latest music gear but what's great about them is their interest free payment plans with no credit check. They offer free shipping on many purchases and customer service is A1! If you need music equipment this is the place I first recommend!

My experience with customer service/credit dept. was completely and utterly unacceptable. The rep was extremely rude, condescending and a poor representation of a company that I helped I high regard. When trying dispute and gain clarity as to why my card was charged $900+. The rep was unwilling to let me speak nor actually make this experience worthwhile for the both of us. It's very unnecessary for some one to be and act bullish while conducting business over the phone, and then be unprofessional to a paying customer.

I have been a customer of AMS for many years. For the most part I have had good luck with them but the problem is in their website. I cannot go online and make a payment in advance due to their payment section of their web site. I have emailed them and they really do not care if anyone likes it or not. Once I get my bill paid down I dont think I will go back. I can go to zZounds and make a payment with ease, no worries. No such luck at AMS.

Tip for consumers:
At one time a person could make a payment on their site and it would work fine. Now it is a cluster but the sad part is they dont care if bothers you or not. AMS wants you to call in to make a payment or to check on a payment, I dont have time for this petty bs. Just fix the web site so I can make payments when I want as long as they are before the due date.....

I have received 3 bad basses from AMS the 4th was finally good. All basses over 1400$ 1 didn't even come in original manufacture box and I sent it back same day as it control knob was jacked. They charged me 25$ restocking fee because it didn't come back in manufacture box. SMH.
They have charged me for labels to return them too when they came in messed up. Each time I mailed them back same or next day.

Tip for consumers:
They have no quality control they only ship from their warehouse. I'd recommend using sweetwater or guitarcenter

Tried to purchase a $6,700 high end guitar they never charged the card. 3 total orders none of which got the guitar - must have called them 40 times over the last 2 weeks and they kept telling me they would call within 30-60 mins, all lies. I don't think they even actually had the guitar. Limited to 125 ever made so otherwise I would NEVER deal with these guys again.

After 3 orders the company ended up declining to sell us the guitar because they could not verify my wife was a real person.

Ordered guitar February 2023. Backordered. 6 months later, email with notice of expired CC on file. Need to call to resolve. 5 hours later, called to update my expiration date. Too late. My guitar had been issued to the next person on line. Called to get details, Collin (sales) said my order had to be cancelled and put back in the queue. Then hung up on me. Collin couldn't take the heat. Went on a search. George's Music Store had 2 in stock & hooked me up on the spot with free shipping. American Musical Supply should be more like George's. AMS is a bit of a $#*! show. BUY FROM GEORGE'S!

No e. Waited 6 months for back order, then they skipped over me.

I have ordered several musical instruments from this company. I have to say they are the most professional people I have met.
Their payment plan is second to none.
No credit check. What a nice concept.
Mostly free shipping. Another thumbs up.
Plus,,when push comes to shove they will work with you on the price.
You cannot go wrong. Very professional.

I bought a guitar from AMS the tremolo did not work right so I returned it well within the time limit they sent me a shipping label and I sent it UPS about a week later I called to see if they had received it they said yes and my refund for my first payment of $132 would be sent to my bank within 5 to 7 days then a few days later they removed $1,459 from my bank account which is the full price of the guitar that they now have I immediately found a dispute and closed my bank account I'm still trying to get the money back that is fraud and illegal and they are Crooks apparently according to their reviews this is common business practice for them I never agreed to pay out the guitar in full I had sent it back to them more than a week earlier CROOKS

How are they not shut down and convicted of fraud

I've been using American Musical for years never had one problem never had to send anything back always got what I ordered within two or three days it is always boxed up the correct way I bought two drum sets everything was just like it was supposed to be I will never go anywhere else cuz no one can beat their prices

All I know is is there the only place that'll let you have three or four months payments or six interest free no credit check so if that doesn't say it I don't know what will everything I've ordered has been delivered on the day they said it would be and I have absolutely no complaints though

I purchased a set of Alisa selectric drums after I got them I bought a percussion 7-piece set and I've bought all kind of accessories for all of them never had one problem I will keep getting it from there the drum said I bought was made by mapex pretty good quality for the price

Exchanged the guitar I bought because it was not right... then they charge me $200 because it was not right. When complaining about this, they were not helpful and am making me call my attorney and bank to dispute the charge. I exchanged it because it had problems. Now I have these problems with the company because they tried selling me a crappy guitar.

I've been a guitarist for 30 years now, and I've been an AMS customer for over 5 years. I've bought a dozen guitars under their payment plan and have zero problems. It's true that some of their sales reps are friendlier than others, but I've actually never been treated badly. I see complaints online about transaction problems, but if you UNDERSTAND the arrangements and make sure funds are available at the right times, there should be no problems. Their payment plans are pretty simple, but some people just don't get it.
A good tip is; when calling these reps, speak to them how you would want to be spoken to. They're just working for a living too. I'll continue to shop at AMS for all of my guitar gear.

Free, easy returns if not satisfied.

I signed up for the no credit check 6 month plan I made my payment and the next day my order was canceled. I asked him why my order was canceled they said I did not qualify. But they cannot give me a reason for why I did not qualify and they wanted me to make the payments in two installments. Just advertising that so you'll buy from them but they won't do what they say they do so that to me is false advertisement I advise you to go somewhere else

Stay away from this site that's all I can say try to see these sound or Sweet water but stay away from these people

These guys suck & lie. The very first time I ordered from these guys? They got over on me... Bad! I ordered a guitar "AJ 220S" & in the picture it was a color I liked so I ordered that color. Traditional sunburst with a dark fret board and dark bridge (tail piece) specifically a Rose Wood color. When I got it, it had the sunburst I wanted but the fretboard and bridge was not like the picture or description. It was a "pink color" and I was like "Oh, hell no!" It did not look very good at all. So I called AMS and the guy at AMS said "Oh, the guitar manufacturer changed the wood type to a composite wood." As if composite is even a 100% wood type with a specific color and if that explains a pink fretboard and bridge? I told the uneducated guy that comp. Isn't even a wood type. It's a manufactured man made wood of a mixture of wood pulp & plastics compressed into a solid & can be stained any color... I guess including "pink". God I should have taken pictures of it? It was hideous! It was my first & last time ever dealing with them. They didn't even offer to exchange it or try baiting me with a gift certificate or anything. They just said send it back we'll refund you. As if this was routine or something?

I purchased a drumset 6 piece Gretsch Catalina maple kit was demo version arrived incomplete big time sent it back now I'm sent a 4 piece set I don't understand it how many times must I be sent the wrong thing? I just don't get it. Are they do it on purpose?

Please be very careful they ship out of Mississippi and apparently they are too dumb there to send the right thing or they just don't care

They have great gear unfortunately it seems difficult to get anything shipped these days they don't communicate well with customers your order will stay in limbo tell you call and even then no guarantee

When I first started getting into music as an adult teen I didn't have much cash to throw around. I put my first used electric guitar on layaway and waited 6 months to finally play it. Once I outgrew the pocket amp I was able to afford I needed a decent amp and some effects. This is when I discovered AMS, they were one of the first vendors offering payment plans and even though my credit was next to non existent they were willing to ship me gear before I could pay for it in full. I even bought my first brand new guitar through them after paying off my amp and multi-effects pedal. Fast forward 18 years and I own my own home and more guitars than I really need. It's a risky business model taking a chance on a punk like I was back then but they helped me realize my rock and roll dreams.

Was told wouldn't be charged if guitar had defect returned was still charged 15.37 so trivial wont do business again!

They've agreed to correct the problem

Flexible payment plans, and friendly customer service. I would highly recommend this site for any musician with a tight budget and who doesn't wanna deal with any rude employees (ie: Guitar Center lol).

I went to their site, it was like going to heaven! Everything was reasonably priced, menus were easy to navigate, my experience was comfortable, and shipping prices were low. Their package deals were great! I WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS SITE!
