When they changed their format years ago I was frustrated because they took away the "notes" section where you could write your own personal suggestions for your saved recipes. In email correspondence, they said, "rest assured all my notes were still there (even though I couldn't access them)", that they would come back eventually (BS) And I only had to write a review and place my suggestions there and I would always see them. OK, fine I have to come up with all those helpful suggestions again and write reviews, which I started to do. Another issue was all the popup ads constantly rolling wreaked havoc on the computer processing time. However, now I can't even find my saved recipes! When I go to my profile it just says "Loading the Future 36%" but it never changes. I so wish I would have just printed those recipes out when I had access. This was years of my life, saving recipes, now all lost on this worthless website.
It seems those making design decisions failed to research their market and users before redesigning. This used to be my go to holiday planning site. I could see previous year menus, shopping list and recipes. I haven't used it for 3-4 years because I can't find my menus and the shopping lists are portioned based on those menus so I have no idea how much to purchase. Super fail! So sad. I have over ten years of family dinner history stored hoping that someday, someone will catch on and fix it.
This is the end for AllRecipes. They used to be my favorite spot for recipes but the ad content has gone from annoying to paralyzing. It freezes like crazy on my ipad and I"m guessing it's all that added ad code. Site is basically non-functional unless you're on a desktop and even then you might suffer a seizure from trying to read a recipes with 8 ads flashing all over your screen.
Update: This site has become tooo commercialized. Way too many ads and the competition has gotten much better. I have been using other sites that have far less traffic and the recipes are very creative and delicious.
Original: Allrecipes can turn you into the best cook on the block with thousands of recipes from drinks to main dishes and everything in between. So many to choose from and always a recipe for what you have a hankering for. Take my word, you will be surprised at what you can do with the help of this website.
I used to love this website and use it all the time but now it is slower than molasses in January!
I realize that we are visual creatures and photos help sell the recipes but ever since you changed your website everything is so freaking slow! Why can't we have the option to filter out the videos? I don't understand why it takes sooo long to load?! It makes no difference if it is on my computer or a smart phone.
It's just SLOW!
This site is supposed to make cooking easier as well as fun but if you have to wait for each and every page to load it is just USELESS!
Please fix it! I miss being able to look through my recipes and add reviews!
This website is SO SLOW, it makes me want to scream. I assume it's because of the ads. I can't even use it anymore, it's so frustrating. The mobile app is much faster.
I have found many good recipes on it though, and I usually find the comments very helpful, but I wish people wouldn't list all of the changes they made to a recipe and then rate it highly based on their changes. If you had to change it a whole bunch, then you didn't like the original recipe, and it would be helpful if that was reflected in your rating.
All recipes was always very slow, often down. When they revamped it they removed several helpful features. Now they removed any saved recipes without warning. I would have printed them or saved similar on a reliable site. Use another site.
My 35 yr old son turned me on to this site, he's just beginning to cook and finds it easier to follow than a cookbook. He finds it easy to cook 1 meal for himself without too many leftovers. Kudos for intelligent planning of information and ease of reading
I just received my first magazine and had to turn 13 pages before I found a recipe. There are also ads among the recipes throughout the magazine. It's not worth the deal I got for a subscription. I'm aware that ads are a must, but this is beyond ridiculous!
This site has completely changed the way you search for recipes. By getting rid of the "search by popularity or rating" feature, it lists the recipes in completely random order! Now when I look for chicken recipes, I have to look through 6000 recipes to find the best one? Um, no. As a busy working mom, I have no time for this. I'll be using another site until this is fixed.
I used to use allrecipes.com constantly, but now it is completely useless. I can't sort, half the time when I search for something, irrelevant "categories" show up, did I mention I can't sort? It's terrible! Just awful!
PLEASE bring back the old site.
This was my go to site. All my stored recipes by collections all my notes for little tweaks logged in. Now I find everything gone. No more collections, no more notes. Yes my favorites are there but I have to scroll through all the saved recipes to find. I even had a collection called "to try" now they are all mixed in. Seriously what the hell are you thinking. Does anyone working there actually use the site, do you ask your users what features we like or maybe the changes are so you can fit more ads. So disappointed all the years of saved recipes. You know what maybe that recipe box isn't such a bad thing after all.
I made your homemade caramel cake 4 Thanksgiving & it was incredibly sweet but very moist! The icing didn't turn out as I expected it 2 but it was fine as well! I will make it again but next time I won't use the box of vanilla pudding I used & I'll make sure 2 add almond extract 2 my icing 4 a better taste! Thank u r sharing your recipes!
I used to read Allrecipes for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. Going to a family gathering and decided to bring a stuffed mushroom appetizer and an Amazon ad popped up asking if I wanted a $1000. It's program to make you answer and fill out a form with your personal info. I don't like being force to fill out a form and answer questions. I will go to YouTube, Foodnetwork or any of the online food blogs. What a waste since I loved this site for years. Money and greed can ruin a good thing especially if you don't listen to your customers.
The website has great recipes. But navigating and saving your personal recipes is a mess. They did a major change of the website a couple years ago. Now I frequent it less because it is so frustrating. They are trying to be like Pintrest with the "giant" photos. It's hard to navigate because these photos take up so much of the screen.
I can find my saved recipes, but I have to scroll through each separate category to find what I'm looking for. Why is there no more search bar for my favorites?! I have hundreds of recipes that I've saved over the past 15+ years there :/ Scrolling through all of them takes forever. And where are my notes I've made on each recipe?
Allrecipes is like sitejabber but for recipes with all of the user reviews and you can really tell which recipes are the ones that most people like. This is very useful when you are trying to find new recipes for guests where you don't exactly know their tastes.
A! Ll recipes you blew it. If i wanted to search for recipes in your new format i would go on pinterest. The beauty of your site was being able to QUICKLY find and sort recipes. I spent several minutes just trying to find a way to format and sort. Also loathe the sell out of all the ads in between the recipes. JUST. LIKE. Pinterest. Such a shame. You were my go to. Guess it's google searches for me
This was my go-to recipe site, actually replacing my old cookbooks, but no longer. Allrecipes has all but disappeared. What I shame I didn't print out my favorite recipes because now I cannot find anything I saved.
I'm so disappointed to have lost my recipes.
Please, please, please bring back the old format for this website! It worked sooooooo much better than this new one. Change is not always a good thing; sometimes it's better to just leave well enough alone.
Answer: Same here. I think we've been defrauded. So much has gone bad with this formerly good site. Maybe time fot some class action.
AllRecipes has a rating of 1.8 stars from 230 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with AllRecipes most frequently mention new format, email address and many times. AllRecipes ranks 85th among Recipe sites.
