I agree with a lot of what others have already stated here and I hope more people can come to recognize how terrible the AKC really is. Just another corporate money scheme. The AKC gets their money from litters of puppies, period. They don't care who bred them or the operations behind it. It's disappointing & I hope another association can become the "good-guy" here because it's clear who the bad one is. Not only that, but in some cases it's been YEARS since the AKC standard of specific breeds has been updated. When are they going to change? There's long-haired German Shepherds out there that are bred to a better standard than the ones you see in the Westminster dog shows. The standards need to be updated & more importantly, followed by these high-level dog show judges. There are weather-proofed long-haired shepherds, which was the original reason they were docked (as it was thought they weren't). It's disappointing enough that you allow the dogs who show at the Westminster level to compete with a clear roached back (which is supposed to be a BIG no-no under YOUR standards.) It's all a joke in my book. More people need to come after you guys & I hope soon enough this "woke" country will.
If you buy packages from other hospital or Vet they won't pay for those vaccine or any service that you already pre paid by those heqlth packages. This insurance is a huge scam. Don't buy it.
I am a breeder, I have been registering my litters with American Kennel Club since 1990. I have never had the issue of extended wait times that some of the other reviews mentioned. Nor have I ever had anyone be rude to me. I have had them switch me between several people getting me to the correct department.
PROS: For me it is the fact that I know I can guarantee the bloodline of my pets because the dogs are now DNA tested. As a buyer you will never have to worry that you were sold a puppy that was not a product of the sire stated on his papers.
CONS: The only real complaint I can think of is the cost, you have to register the litter PLUS each individual each puppy in the litter... then the new owner has to pay an additional fee to have the puppy registered in their name. To me that seems a lot like "double-dipping".
I am glad I raise Chihuahuas (2 to 4 babies per litter). I can't imagine the financial burden of having to register a litter of 14 Great Dane puppies.
They basically stole my full registration from me that i purchased with my dog and want to subject me to limited registration because theyre jealous and dont really want to. See me with the dog i have
Orestes Rios took my deposit and was dishonest about when he was breeding his dogs and when I would receive my puppy. I was told it would be at the end of January they would be born but now they aren't even breeding her until the end of this month. When I found this out I asked for a refund so I could find a puppy sooner, he was very rude and said he would refund me when he got another deposit. I called AKC to complain and they informed me they can not do anything about the way he handles business. I find this quite ridiculous. Will not be searching on here any longer. Save your money and find a breeder yourself.
We paid 500.00 to do a DNA investigation on a breeder who put the wrong sire on a litter. The breeder refused to produce the real sire that they advertised for sale. The akc had the ad and they never suspended the breeder for "failing to produce their record of who they sold the dog to". This same breeder has done other bad things but it appears they are an AKC "corporate" beeeder meaning they supply the AKC with many registration and show entries dollars. I dont believe many of the pedigrees are correct as the. AKC does not require DNA or microchip with registrations. They also require the permission of a person in question before getting DNA from dogs in question. Isn't that like asking a thief for your money back?
This is an outstanding site that gives a great wealth of information on dogs that are recognized by the AKC. Not only that, they also list breeders located in each state.
There is also a section where you can type in what you're looking for in a dog, and it will give you suggestions on suitable breeds.
I really love the American Kennel Club because they provide much needed canine search and rescue services in addition to all the support they give to breeders. You can read more here: http://www.akc.org/dogny/
There are many great aspects to the AKC. You can create an account. If you have registered dog you can add the dog via the registration number. If your into conformation showing you have all the info you need at your fingertips. Also if your looking for breeders of merit or just reputable puppies there is a good database for that as well.
I have been trying to register my puppy through the AKC and their customer service has been terrible! I have tried to call in regards to their application and they have been extremely unhelpful. Also, I sent an email explaining my PIN doesn't work and they reply by telling me where my PIN is located! I am very disappointed in their customer service!
DO NOT buy a puppy from Creek Weimaraners, Mountain Boxers, Sunset Cavaliers, River Westies or Stone Rottweilers! This breeder out of Ogden, UT is running a puppy mill and raising them in terrible living conditions. He advertises that the puppies AKC registered and are raised in a family friendly environment with daily interaction. Not true! The dogs live in a concrete compound out in the middle of nowhere. We went to pick our puppy up and it was unhealthy and had mange! He smelled terrible of urine and feces! When I asked the breeder questions concerning the puppies condition he became very defensive and disrespectful. We were not allowed to see the parents or the rest of the litter! Terrible excuse for a breeder, buyer beware!
They attempt to pilfer every dime they can from you. My dog was over 2 years old and they sent a letter stating the sire's DNA didn't match my dog. They wanted me to pay $50 for a DNA test to confirm my registration.
Besten Boxers sells sick dogs do not buy a puppy from this man it's costed me $2500 in the first year since I've had this dog from day one he's been sick he offered to pay no medical bills-Horrible businessman, My puppy has a heart murmur and a liver condition, claims he health tests
I have been scammed purchasing a cane corso i contacted akc i told them thaat my dog look more like lab then cane corso they did not suport me what so ever
After being scammed out of a lot of money from a Breeder named Summer Berlinger who never produced a puppy, I contacted the AKC to let them know that she refused to refund my money even after the contract became null and void. They seemed totally uninterested, and told me to beware and do my investigating before giving money to a breeder, but she is one of their customer/breeders! Even the police said they really couldn't go after her since a contract was involved. Thousands of people get puppy scammed each year, and this breeder in Las Vegas should be shut down. I'm not sure there ever was a puppy when she took my money. She's crafty and evil, and the AKC should do more.
I ordered a Pedigree and I. D tags in the beginning of march, and still haven't received either. The customer service is extremely terrible, and seem uneducated. If you have to do any business with AKC expect to wait, wait, wait, and wait somemore
AKC single-handedly to blame for puppy millers, abused breeding dogs; the breeders ARE the AKC's customers; when production drops, they send out employees to help get numbers back up; disgusting.
The AKC database contains the records of each litter registered with the AKC. This information is entered by the breeder and contains information about the parents, date of birth, number of puppies, AKC litter #, color, breed, sex etc. If the AKC had the skill or the motivation to analyze this data they could easily identify 'bad' breeders or breeders not following AKC standards. Instead they allow backyard breeders and puppy mills to use the AKC name to market their puppies. In exchange for this agreement breeders contractually force puppy buyers to register with the AKC. An incestuous relationship which does not protect the animal or the consumer. This dinosaur needs to fall into the tar pits.
AKC doesn't guarantee or check the dog breeders, you might get scammed if you don't ask the right questions about the breeder. I got scammed by one of their listings and they did nothing to stop it. I wish they have reviews for their breeders. Being an AKC member doesn't mean anything. Make sure you ask the breeders to show the health record of the puppy and parents before the deposit and you shouldn't be paying cash or Zelle.
I turned a crooked breeder into AKC and filed a complaint that the dog wasn't pure only to be told they weren't investigating and allowed the dog to be registered as a purebred. Not only that, they scrapped the name I registered the dog under and allowed another breeder to rename the dog. And dealing with the employees on the phone at AKC is another treat to be avoided. If I ran a business like they do, I would be sued and rightfully so.
Answer: Don't ask AKC about honest breeders. I train dogs for service and I've been repeatedly bought purebreds from an AKC breeder who puts out genetically defective pups that die early and horribly. AKC DOES NOT CARE!
Answer: Scam-https://petscams.com/puppy-scammer-list/demainpoodles-com/
Answer: I believe this place is a scam. They answer emails right away until you ask for an AKC Registration number for the pup. Also they request payment via walmart or western union so you can't do a chargeback if they are fraud.
