Be careful with using Agoda!

This review is for Agoda and for the hotel OYO 422 Jane Homestay and Resort. This hotel closed a year ago and the owner is changed at exactly this address. I booked a room via agoda.com site because it was available for booking and payment was successful. My money were charged. But it was a surprise for me when I arrived at the place with bags in a taxi that there's an ANOTHER hotel now instead of
OYO 422 Jane Homestay and Resort. It was my first experience with using Agoda. Do not recommend anyone such a bad experience with Agoda Because I lost money for accomodation and for taxi. Agoda customer service didn't return money to me. Why such hotels are still available for booking 1 year after closing? Be careful!

Terrible ongoing experience

Terrible ongoing experience, I booked for my family in lagos, we received the booking confirmation, but when my wife reached the hotel, the hotel declined any knowledge about the booking, the hotel also confirmed they don't deal with agoda at all, I reached agoda customer service, and they started the scripted service, no understanding to what mistake they have done and they tried to cross sell by telling part of my refund will be agoda cash, and hotel has to approve cancelation first, and it will take 30 days! Why?
If I am the one changing my mind or reached late or I did mistake then I will understand, but when it is fully your mistake along with the hotel management who kept their hotel advertised on your website under tie up with agoda where they must not have done that, then it is not my fault, and here you don't apply scripted service, you provide exceptional fast service to recover the damage you have caused.

Very bad service cheating people

I have booked a room for 2 adults and 1 kid and agora asked kids age also but at the time of checkin at hotel surprised to see it was booked for only 1 and paid 2000 extra for the room which is not at all worth. Very bad website. Cheating people and came to know from hotel reception that this is a habit of agora

As per our scheduled booking and based on details provided at your website display regarding the hotel cambay sapphire, gandhinagar, we visited on 23rd july 22 at the said hotel property and found below negative review observations, due to which we had to cancel our stay at this property premise and we are not satisfied, details provided at your website regarding this hotel property is false and misguiding, which definitely raises question on your website credibility.

Thus we request you to refund us the entire paid amount to us at the earliest, since we cancelled our stay after visiting this hotel. Due to your incorrect details and false marketing about the property, we have lost our precise time and thus we are entitled for refund.

Summary of negative observations

-As per photos shared at your websites, appears to be very old, the hotel premise is not in good shape and not upto the mark as per photos mentioned at your website
-rooms are dirty and not maintained with basic hygiene not maintained
-your website mentioned they have in house multi cuisine restaurant offering a variety of global foods and cuisines, today when we visited, we came to know that the restaurant is closed since last so many months and they only offer limited basic food as in room dining.
-when we asked them to show us their in house kitchen, they denied, which raises question on this.
-even basic air conditioning in the hotel was not working properly
-the large garden displayed in your website, is no longer operational
-swimming pool shown in your website is also not operational

I had booked a hotel in udaipur through Agoda but due to some crisis there we were not able to go so I asked for a credit extension but i didn't received it neither i have received refund and i have send them many mails regarding this but they are just ignoring me and not giving reply so it's my request to all of you don't do booking through Agoda

Horrible experience

Horrible service! We have just been left with no hotel in London and just got an email saying the hotel had cancelled our reservation and they can't find an alternative for us. We booked and fully paid our reservation since the beginning of May and now we have everything else booked and no hotel in London. The great choice they give us is to cancel our reservation with a full refund!? What is that!? What you wanted us to pay for no hotel also!? So now we are stuck trying to find a hotel with prices doubled at this point and them not doing anything about it. Oh yes. They are giving us agoda cash for a few dollars that doesn't even pay for a night at this point. Would never use them again.

Avoid!

They had cancelled our booking without any notification.We received email when we were on the plane and they asked for passport and credit card copy ans we emailed them on the plane. When we are at the hotel lobby they told us booking was cancelled. When we called customer service they said they cancelled booking and they claim they will refund it within 10 days! We had to do booking from hotel.com lucky we found available room.

The "non refundable" text is so small and written in parentheses especially on mobile.
Everything else is big, bolded or colored, looks very promotional but the "non refundable" text is in smallest text, and shows only once when you start booking. I think such a critical information should be highly visible and should be confirmed with the user again before they make a final decision!

One hotel. Two address. Cities apart.

I booked a very last minute hotel to attend a concert in Hamilton. I booked a room through Agoda that had the hotel listed in Hamilton. When I arrived at the address provided, there was no hotel. When I reviewed my booking confirmation I realized they had two identical addresses listed for the same place. One was in Hamilton. The other in Port Colburn. When I called Agoda to explain mix up, I was told this was non-refundable booking. They send me to a place that didn't exist, and then told me I couldn't get my money back. I persisted, and then they said they had to "negotiate with the hotel to cancel the booking and give me a refund". Then they kept me on hold for while they "negotiated". The transaction was on their site. They owe the refund. Stay away from Agoda. There are too many other reputable sites to put up with this kind of shady business practice. Gross gross people.

NOTICE! Never use this site if your life depends on it! They don't care, cannot talk with anyone, they cancel reservations especially when it is an easy clarification! They leave you in a lurch to find other accommodations at the last minute and it's ends up costing more money! Never, ever use this site!

Agoda Thailand is horrible!
Agoda Thailand is horrible! We'll never book via agoda again. Booked and paid, but once we've arrived at the hotel they said the rooms were dubble booked and we have to arrange a refund ourselves and pay the total amount for a family room (booked 2 superior rooms). After a long drive we were too tired. So paid the whole amount again. We'll never book again!

We were very dissapointed in what we found. On our arrival we could see that this was not what we expected but decided to stay the night. No Dstv. Wifi very poor. No mountain view. No garden view. Noisy neighbors. Window not closing properly. Absolute nightmare of a night. Moved out the vey next day and went to stay at Serenas self catering in Botha Street. Excellent. Peaceful and cozy.

Not even 1star

Ignore the one star, I wouldnt even give it no stars. We trusted this company and they have totally thrown that away. Me and my best friend went to Venice for a long weekend and we were forced to move hotel on the first night due to inappropriate comments made my the staff at the hotel even after acting like they needed to move us to a different hotel because the "scaffolding" they didn't have… the hotel was in perfect condition with no faults, when we walked to the "sister hotel" it was a closed down abandoned one which wasn't even on the maps anymore. We refused to stay and moved to the back again no even connected to the hotel where we originally were. After paying for a different hotel and reporting this back to Agoda they done nothing to help us redeem the money we lost and if it wasn't for us moving we wouldn't be here right now. Cannot tell anyone enough to not go through to Agoda and especially not stay at hotel Antigua Panada!

I made reservation on Cebu Courtyard hotel. But the hotel described on the Agoda and the real property was so different. Shuttle bus service to the airport was described on the agoda site, but the hotel cleark told us to take a taxi.
Above all, they double charged. We paid 1,000 peso (it was 990 peso on the contract from the Agoda). But I found my debit card was also charged a few days later.
On agoda, there is no page for the claim. I found there is no review pages on the agoda site. I guess there are a lot of people cheated like me.

#agoda what the F#CK is this? This travel booking sight is nothing but a great BIG SCAM! They say they book you a room they take your money from your bank account and they say all over their web site to get a refund all you have to do is click cancel and it's done, canceled... well from personal experience with this company "AGODA" today. They are the company that took the money from my bank account not the hotel which by the way is #clearwaterhotel and that place is a joke as well... doese anyone speak English in this country anymore.
DO NOT! I REPEAT, DO NOT! USE THIS BOOKING COMPANY AGODA FOR ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING! AND PLEASE GOD NO DONT GOTO OR STAY AT THE #CLEARWATERHOTEL!
AGODA WONT EVEN REFUND MY MONEY EVEN THOUGH THE WEBSITE SAYS IT WILL... SO THEY HAVE STOLEN MY MONEY...
so you know tomorrow I WILL BE CALLING the better business burrow every news broadcaster on TV and in print. The I. R. S. ( not sure why I'm gonna call them but I am). A lawyer and the sheriff's office! And I can assure you that I have never called the police for anything nothing at all nor will I ever call them after this...
so in short people avoid using #agoda at any and all cost...

Inconvenience

Showed up to go to my hotel room when they booked a king and I needed two queen beds. Front desk guy told me that he could not change it. After contacting their customer service they told me that they were going to refund me my money and instead of refunding my money they put it on a card that I was not interested in. After the whole ordeal I end up having to spend the money and book another hotel room with my visa directly with the hotel. I am now sitting with a card that I cannot use. This whole process took three hours of my time.

Booked a room through agoda. Got to the hotel it was a dump. We walked in the room after going up the stairs that had a huge rust hole. The room stunk bedding had holes towels were gray. Was supposed to have 2 beds, had only 1. Put the key card down and got out of there. I was to angry after driving in traffic all day to talk to person who checked me in. Better to leave than have a huge blow up. Went to other side of freeway to hampton inn. Luckily they had rooms. E mailed agoda because I wanted my 71.00 dollars refunded. They asked for pictures and proof of staying elsewhere that night. I provided that immediately and still no refund. AGODA IS USELESS. But now I'll see what my credit card company can do.

I've traveled to 50+ countries without these ossues. I booked a hotel, it said free cancellation, I literally tried to cancel within a minute. With no exaggerating. And they wouldn't let me. They also lied about check-in time by several hours. The hotel said they'd never accept what they said. This is the first and last time I'm booking with Agoda.
