I was really floored by the spread of different designs I received, and was able to cut this down to a few quality pieces of work. The designers were great about quickly responding to refinement requests, and delivered a final cover design I'm very happy with.
99Designs is different from other similar sites in that the set up is better for both client and designer. Designers get an opportunity to hone their skills by learning from others and the client gets to choose from hundreds of designs. The system is efficient and from what I have experienced, very well run.
I would love to be able to enter more contests, but at the same time understand that it is just another way in which 99Designs ensures that the contests I enter are selected wisely and with my skillset in mind and that I am going to do my best work for each and every one. Keep it up!
I was pretty happy with the design I got and with the phone support from 99Design when I needed guidance dealing with my chosen designer.
I won't give a 5 stars because some of the designs submitted were pretty average and amateurish, no effort put in at all and some of them didn't understand the brief.
I have raised this with 99Design on my final review. Maybe they need to a better screening process for the designers
But overall I got a great design and working again through 99Design on a new project with my designer.
Hi Luciano,
Thank you for the feedback!
We certainly understand your concern with some of the designs you have received. We get that not all designers will best suit your needs which is why our designer support team is always on the lookout for designers, and make sure that they improve on their portfolio and design quality. Rest assured that we are working on this and we are still glad that you were able to find a design that ultimately suited your design need.
Thank you again for the feedback and we hope to get to work with you again soon!

I make top quality designs I have been deigning for over 10 years and they tell me my work isn't quality when Im approved on shutterstock, istock, upwork and fiverr. Not only that but the actual customers always rated my work 4 to 5 stars out of 5 so they loved my designs. The last design I made, made it to the final round and won, Then my account got suspended for poor quality. I never got payed or got recognition I contacted the customer who bought my design I have proof of all this and I am looking into bringing in a lawsuit $$$
Hi Lamar,
I understand how disappointing it is to see your account placed on hold. Hopefully you can see by our email correspondence that this is not a permanent hold. We only ask that you submit a portfolio because your current entries do not appear to represent our minimum quality standards.
99designs is a professional marketplace, and we are dedicated to cultivating a community of designers who are consistently creating unique, well crafted designs. To this end, each designer account is reviewed personally by a 99designs staff member. In order to remain objective, we do not judge quality on things like education, certifications, or even contest ratings but rather on the actual quality of the entries themselves. We use these basic, universal graphic design principles as our forms of measurement: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/articles/204862935-What-are-99designs-quality-standards-
The reason for the three month period is that we want to make sure designers really take the time to improve in the principles of typography, visual hierarchy, composition and color, as well as technical skills. We have to remain consistent with all designers in our procedure for portfolio review. As such, our staff will not review a portfolio until three months past the date of your account-hold.
We do always pay the winning designer the prize amount, except in rare cases in which it breaches our copyright rules where we would have to allow the customer the option of choosing another design to legally protect them. You can read more about these rules here: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/articles/204761075-What-are-the-rules-for-participating-on-99designs-. If there are any credits in the designer's account when it is placed on hold, usually our payments team will do a final payout on their behalf.
Our support team is happy to look into your account to see why you have not yet received payment for a won contest, if you could let us know your username.

I picked a bronze branding package (with the £75 extras pack), and was over the moon to receive over 360 designs! Our whole team had fun voting on which they liked best. The designers couldn't do enough for you, and were happy to do anything from a tweak to a complete makeover based on our requests. All in all, a fun process that has enabled our company to come away with an exceptional new brand and logo design.
Hi Andrew,
We appreciate your feedback and we're glad to be part of your design process! :) So happy to hear that you and your colleagues had fun choosing a design from a great number of submission! We hope that we can work with your company again with your future design needs!

Very easy process in setting up a contest for designers to bid on my word mark. After leaving a descriptive brief, I had designers coming in with very creative designs. I had only expected 30-40 designs, but in the end there were 109 designs. The last 50 were adjustments with 4 designers. Awarded two designers. Very happy with the results!
Hi David,
Thank you for leaving us a feedback!
We're very excited to hear that your experience with our Global Creative Platform has been a pleasant one! It is our promise to help you find a design that you will love and we're glad to be able to do exactly that. It is also a great tip for new clients to make sure to provide a descriptive brief to ensure their contest's success.
We hope to see your logos in action and we hope to work with you again soon with your future design needs!

I ended up with a couple of designs I liked, and my friends weren't much help since they split between the same ones. In the end I got something I'm happy with and have now plastered all over social media, replacing the generic design I had before. I didn't give the artists much to work with but they still managed to turn out some nice designs. My only regret is that the "losing" finalists don't end up with any money at all.
Book artomatic for ANY JOB, you will not be disappointed, a true prodigy! He listened to my brief and I barely had to make any changes. (which is insane because I can always find stuff) I only asked him to add a few special symbols to incorporate into the design which he did subtly and beautifully, barely any revisions! Book him! Artomatic!
Someone serious about starting a business will do research and look to a professional designer that they feel is worthy of the task of creating the face of their baby.
Brands aren't just about logos. If you don't know this, you're not ready to start a business. Brands are about how a company makes the customer feel, their experience and feelings towards the brand, knowing they cut corners and contributed to screwing over the design industry will definitely leave a bad taste in my mouth...

I found 99designs via web reviews. I needed a logo for my business, but I wasn't sure exactly how to visually display my brand. 99designs helped me articulate what I was looking for and shared it with designers. I received dozens of entries to my design contest, and ended up with many great options. The poll feature allowed me to solicit feedback from my network. Every designer I worked with was responsive, helpful and talented. I love my new logo and would recommend this process.
Hi Hazen,
Thank you for your review and we're excited to see your new logo on display! :) Glad that we're able to help you find a design that really spoke with you and we would love to help you with your future design needs as well.

I'm a designer with 99designs. Recently I entered a contest and submitted a design, very simple and focused on the brief. The client was pleased with it and rated it 4 stars (out of 5). Then many participants started copying my design with very slight tweaking. I brought this to the clients notice pointing out that I was the first to come up with that particular concept and my design is being copied. The client reassured me and said he'd keep that in mind.
To my horror, in the end he awarded the prize money to a designer who had copied my design almost 99% (guess that's why they call it 99designs).
Also repeated mails to 99designs to intervene yielded no result. Zilch!
The designs I received were horrible, could have done better myself. Then I requested a refund and said that I could not have one, even though they have a money back guarantee. Used them 3 times and every single time was a nightmare. Either the designs sucked, or customer service was an issue.
99designs is a cool idea - put your graphic design project up for bid, get a bunch of submissions, give submitters feedback, and then choose the winner. The pros are: you get to set your price upfront and you get to choose from a number of ideas/designs. This can work well for an isolated project - there are some talented designers. Where 99designs runs into trouble is if complicated branding is needed or if the project is closely tied to other design projects that need to be coordinated.
So net net, I would use 99designs for a one-off logo or other simple design projects - you can get a great deal for your money (by California standards). However, if you have the budget and want something more complicated, it's most likely worth paying a traditional designer. And I have to add: good designers are under-valued assets.
I just signed up and followed blind contest for logo,
I got 2 and 3-star ratings on my submitted designs.
Suddenly I got an email that my account was suspended forever?
I don't understand?
So, whether all new accounts are always suspended?
As a client you may get cut price designs, you may even get something wonderful you didn't expect, also you may receive lazy and sub standard artwork. From the designers point of view it is a system of exploitation. Please don't use this site for your design needs. Talk to designers and research your freelancers, pay them fairly for the job they do. If this is the future of our industry we are staring into black.
99designs has a good sales pitch, but can't deliver on it. Wasted 600USD on trying to get a design. We got about 10 terrible (read very basic/could have done it myself) designs and about 2 that were workable. Decided on one and spent significant time and energy getting the design and the required specs correct. Then the designer was "suspended" from the platform so I was unable to get the final designs or artwork. Terrible experience and a terrible waste of money.
I used 99designs to facilitate the design of a new company logo. I signed up for the gold service and got well over 100 designs submitted. All of the designers were very easy to work with and it was so tough to even get down to the final 5. Finally chose the winner on the last day and couldn't be more pleased.
I stumbled upon 99designs in 2012 and it was a game changer for me as a designer, It was the most friendliest and most professional crowd sourcing platform i ever encountered and believe me, i have first hand experience in most of the other such websites. I instantly felt i belong there and i'm glad that i was given the chance to shine by 99designs and help a lot of businesses to achieve their goal.
Poor pool of designers. I spent $300 and nearly 2 months & received some of the worse designs known to man. I upped it to $500 and the results were even worse. I recommend using a professional agency that can cater to your taste and style. The designers here are not worth the money and most importantly the time!
My funds were distributed to all the designers without even being allowed to use one. I had expressed my concerns that designs were not useable. Expensive especially since I got nothing out of it. They locked all the designs as I was not able to chose a "winner". None were good enough to be useable at a company level.
Answer: Hi Ernest, Thank you for the question!:) While we require payment to be done prior to launching your design contest, we do offer a 100% money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Simply call us before you decide to guarantee your contest or move yourself into the final round. More information can be found here: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/articles/204108729 There are a few instances you will not be eligible for a refund: - Once you decide to continue working with up to 6 finalists, you waive your right to a refund -If you "guarantee" your contest when you launch (under Contest Options), you will not be eligible for a refund as well. Keep in mind this option has to be manually "ticked" - You must call within 60 days of launching your contest I hope this helps and if you have any further questions, please reach out to our Customer Support team at: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/requests/new so we can respond to your inquiries at a more timely manner. Sincerely, Jerlyn from 99designs
Answer: Hi Devon, Thanks for reaching out! If you do not see a bundle package that fits your needs, we suggest starting with one contest and then work with your winning designer via our 1:1 Projects for additional design needs you may have. I would recommend starting with either a Logo + Business Card Contest (https://99designs.com/logo-business-card-design) or Logo + Social Media Image Contest (https://99designs.com/social-media-pack). Here is some additional information on our 1:1 Projects: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/articles/204760975 Please don't hesitate to get in touch with our Support Team and we can explain the options in more detail: https://support.99designs.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
