Outrageous fees. Card should be completely closed but dealing with nickle and dime minimal fees that keep popping up….
This is a horrible bank. My debit card, which I never used, was somehow compromised. It is now three weeks and I still don't have my new card. Trying to get past their automated menu when they have invalidated my debit card account number is impossible. I stayed on the line long enough to get past the automated, only to get a recording saying they are having technical difficulties! Absolutely horrible bank.
They made a huge mistake by not adding me on our loan when they purchased our mortgage. I am now trying to make some financial moves and thanks to their mistake I am losing thousands of dollars. The worst part is you can't get anyone to help you out. I have been sent in circles with literally zero advancement in 2 months. They can't as much as send me a paper receipt via snail mail. Total incompetence.
My experiences with 5th 3ed Bank has been extremely negative. Twice they have placed extend it holds on checks that I deposited into your my account. Both times within a couple of days the check cleared the bank it was written on but holds remained for extend period of time. The first time it happened it took over five weeks for me to get my money. This time it's been 10 days and I'm still waiting. They say it will be available on a given day. The given day comes and the hold does not life. Another date is given but comes and goes with the hold still in place.
When they did it to me the second time I am mediately emptied my savings account with them cancel my credit card and I'm waiting to the money clears to close my checking.
Discovered this time that fifth third Bank is ranked number four by the consumer financial protection bureau as the most complaint about financial institution in America even though they don't rank in the top 100 largest banks
Set your expectations low for Fifth Third Bank and you won't be disappointed. After paying an invoice for an escrow increase on a mortgage, the monthly payment still slightly increased by $43. I incorrectly and admittedly sent in the prior payment amount and FifthTurd decided to accept and deposit the payment but not apply the payment to my account. The entire principle and interest amount was correct. Only the escrow amount had to be corrected, and the escrow disbursement wasn't due for another four months. I paid the $43 via FifthTurd's website the same day I was notified of the issue. But, FifthTurd refused to exercise any common sense in helping resolve the issue. FifthTurd deposited my payment but still acted as if I missed the entire payment. All of this for a $43 shortage in escrow that wouldn't be paid out for another four months. After being disconnected a couple times and working through their phone tree every time even the supervisor claimed to have no discretion. I had no choice in getting FifthTurd for the mortgage, but when I do have a choice, FifthTurd will be my last choice.
Took a check drawn on 5/3 to cash. Yes, I have a bank but was driving by 5/3 and thought it would be easy to drop in, shown them my ID and walk out with the money. The teller then told me she would cash it for a fee but could not tell me how much "until she got in there". Needless to say I still have the check and will be heading to First Horizon!
I literally have to call every single month and spend over 2 hours on the phone just to pay my auto loan bill. I have never in my life tried so hard to give someone my money. I'd let someone light my face on fire and put it out with a wet brick before I ever bank with them again! Unfortunately, my auto loan has been passed around like a joint at a party and these a-holes ended up with it. Avoid them at all costs!
Called a 5/3 800 number and was put on hold for over 1 hour the first time I had a question about my bank accounts. Then today, 12/12/2022, I had a question about the payments being made by a credit union that I use to make e-payments. Made the call to 5/*******030. That is the number for questions about the 5/3 Equity Flexline customer service. Was on hold for over 30 minutes before someone answered the phone. The rep and I discussed my question. She asked if I would mind being put on hold while she looked up my account. I said okay and when she came back on the phone she told me that she did not have the information that I was looking for. She could not get the information that I was looking for. Then she wanted to transfer me to another department to get the information I was looking for. I wanted to know why there were two (2) withdrawals coming out of my checking account at the credit union (e-pay source) when I authorized only one withdrawal. After waiting for the customer service rep to check my account, she came back and said she did not have the information that I was looking for and could not help me. She gave me the phone number where I was going to be transferred to. Surprise! It was the same number that I was transferred from to her. That did it. The phone number that she was transferring me to was the *******030 that I just finished talking to and was transferred to her. I was put on hold again and waited for another 30 minutes and hung up my phone. I figured it was easier to write another negative review on how terrible the customer service was rather than wait another 30 to 60 minutes. Just to get transferred again. The customer service is not worth the time and phone call. Don't bother trying to get a helpful customer service rep. They apologize more than they give you help.
0 stars for this company. I got a car loan through them which is fine, the interest is not unreasonable for the times. The issue is their website/payment portal is completely useless. If you have a credit union outside of 5/3 bank you can't do automatic deposit. You need at least 2 days to have a payment to go through from an outside bank. So if on Wednesday you want Friday payment because you'll get a late fee on Sunday you are out of luck. The customer service is completely unhelpful. I asked them to send me my confirmation information on a payment to either my loan inbox or email they "did not have the ability " to do so, which is boggling in the 2022. Like you have a company email, you can screencap if for whatever backward reason you can't save basic information/ documents. I got an nsf from them and my bank because **I ** supposedly processed two payments back to back, despite only submitted 1 payment. This place has been such a garbage bank that I decided to just shell out the 30k and pay off my god forsaken loan. Except today was the withdrawal date I set up and behold money still in my account. So I go to my ledger, and "history requirement " is listed there. What in the world that means I don't know. No one has called and there are no messages in my inbox or email about this, or if they want to confirm that I am allowing that payment- which would be reasonable. Instead silence. I guess hoping I wouldn't notice so they can continue to charge me interest and hopefully get a late fee out of me. Absolutely do not recommend. Worst institution I have ever used.
Worst most corrupt company ever! They purchased my loan from a previous lender with NO NOTIFATION OF ANY KIND! Then they called me from a 1800 number and told me I have to provide my social security and date of birth. I expressed I have no knowledge of who they are and no records of any kind of their company and requested if they could email me any confirmation or notification that they now hold my loan. They expressed that they cannot provide any details without first getting them my personal information. Once I provided my personal information they told me that I was past due for two mortgage payments which I was NEVER informed about or even made aware of that my loan had been sold to this horrible company.
After finally getting a login into their online system (which took about 30 minutes) I was told I needed to call another number to setup the automatic billing. After being on hold with that number for about 30 more minutes they told me they could not setup my automatic billing without either first faxing or snail mailing a form to them. I expressed that I do not have a FAX machine or Printer and that I could simply email the same form directly to them but their antiquated system would only allow FAX or Snail Mail! Then I proceeded to setup a digital fax through my email and sent the required form to them. I called them back (again on another 30 minute hold) and told them I have fax confirmation of the required form and they then said we can help you today because it will take us 3-5 business days to review the fax. Overall, I have spent 2.5 hours of my morning that I should be at work trying to setup, pay, and enroll in their online system simply to avoid having a late payment on a loan that I was never even informed of with a Company whose customer service staff were actively rude and abrasive at ALL aspects. I am so frustrated that my Mortgage could be sold off to a company who literally strives to see their customer fail.
What does "we're here to make your day a fifth third better" even mean?
They bought our mortgage from Sonovus bank in the first month (thanks sonovus)
The website security is awful. Customer support is not 24/7. Cant log in, cant get anyone on the phone to help without waiting forever and when you do, they barely speak english
Then they hung up on me
Is a fraud they offers to give you 250.00 if you open an account and deposit 1,000 in the first 90 days. I did it and they never gave me the bonus. Second, customer service is the worst. They blocked my ATM and when I went to the branch in Florence, KY told me that I had to wait 5 days for another one to arrive by mail even though I told them that I needed an emergency one since I was going on a trip. Third, someone committed fraud with my account where they stole 700.00 from my account. They made me the temporary refund required by the federal laws governing the banks, then the bank took back the $700.00 from my account claiming that they could not recover the money of the person who scammed me even though it was for zelle. So I can use the bank to do fraud and they don't do anything. Customers lose money and the bank does not comply with the law of reporting these frauds. I never recommend this bank to anyone. Don't make that mistake if you want to have your money safe. Don't do it. The other banks are better.
Worst bank I have ever dealt with! Phone tree that keeps you on hold for 30-60 minutes before telling you the call center is closed and to call back later, representatives that pick up and have no idea why you are calling despite having to repeatedly entire information in the phone tree, unhelpful and borderline rude customers, 6(!) business days to respond to an email.
Ultimately, my mortgage loan was sold to them and I so wish I could have it sold again. Now I am trapped. Please! No one knowingly should do business with this company. Right now I am fighting to have them pay a property tax bill from my escrow account which I have paid every month.
I would give them 0 stars if I could. They put a hold on my account while vacationing in London. All reps unable to troubleshoot issue over the phone and kept repeating that I had to go to a local branch. Even after explaining multiple times that I am out of the country, they kept repeating there is nothing they can do to help. I will be moving over to chase bank as soon as I return home. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this bank.
Terrible. Dinosaur-like bank with a pretty much useless online portal. My mortgage was switched to fifth third bank for servicing and it has been nothing but a nightmare since. Welcome packet arrived weeks late. Set-up was extremely disruptive and cumbersome. Customer service was rude and unhelpful - in fact, multiple customer service reps will tell you contradictory information and then try to push you off to another department when they realize you have been given incorrect information... absolutely no accountability. YOU HAVE TO PRINT AND MAIL A PHYSICAL FORM JUST TO SET UP AUTOMATED PAYMENTS. This is a major problem as many people don't have access to a printer. It takes 4-6 weeks just to set up! I can't wait for my loan to serviced to literally anyone else.
DO NOT BANK HERE - If your money isn't as grand as everyone else - DON'T BANK HERE!
For example, money is tight, and your balance is low - and you fear running into an overdraft - PAY ATTENTION - Yes, they will grant you three courtesy reversals - but if your account is negative $7, you will be charged a $37overdraft fee, if your account is negative $5, you will be charged an overdraft fee, if your account is negative $2, you will be charged an overdraft fee - with less than a week to make it current! This is important when you have to decide to put gas in your car, feed your family, during an post covid/inflation period! AGAIN RUN -SLOWLY BANKS ARE GETTING RID OF FEES - READ THE ROOM FIFTH THIRD!
Nothing but a hassle. My home branch 500 ft from my property gave me a hard time 2 days in a row while I was trying to open up a new checking account. I had to go to the next town over a 15 minute drive where they were happy to open the account for me. It took 17 days for the debit card to get from Cincinnati Ohio to a suburb of Cleveland Ohio. Once received and activated I went to remove the sticker thinking it was like any other adhesive sticker from any other bank or credit card company I've ever had and all of the adhesive stuck to the poorly made card. It looked and felt as though the microchip was ready to pop right out of this card. I tried to scrape all the adhesive off, wash it off with a little soap and water and rubbing alcohol. I googled how to remove adhesive from plastic and it told me to use acetone which in doing so removed the numbers off of my card. The cheap car does not have the numbers stamped into the plastic. I had to search high and low on the internet to find a service number where I could speak to a live person about the damaged card and then wait on hold for over 19 minutes, no I'm not exaggerating, to speak to a rude, condescending jerk who told me to maybe next time don't use acetone. I said maybe next time invest the money on a better made card and some more expensive adhesive. The jackwagon told me that the account had to be open 30 days before I could use it! I said really? I'm letting you have a $1,000 interest-free loan because that's what I opened the account with and I have to let it sit for 30 days before I can deposit a check for $300 to keep that thousand company? Since you don't want it my old bank account is still active I guess I'll just deposit it with them. Seriously thinking of just closing this damn account. Worst customer service ever!
Fifth third bank is TERRIBLE. No one called be back after at least a dozen messages to different people. It took 4 weeks to transfer money from 5/3 bank to another bank because no one told me to use Firefox instead of Google. Nor did anyone tell me that there is a daily limit on transfer amounts as well as a monthly limit. When I did finally get to speak to someone at the Mandarin branch she hung up on me. Customer service does not exist there. Go to any other bank, Not 5/3 Deborah K.
I have been disputing a charge for 6 months. Back and forth back and forth. I am giving up. It's $134. Luckily for me it's not more. I finally reached my limit. So, I will soon be closing my account. I do charge 6 figures on my card yearly. You would think they would try a little harder to keep my business.
Asked them to put a lock on my cards, and not to cancel them. As I lost my wallet but if I found it I'd want it turned on, they said okay. I found said wallet however they cancelled both cards and I have to wait for new cards
