Plum tree purchased as gift. Arrived very poorly packaged (just some clingfilm!), was dead on arrival. Was constantly fobbed off by the company, saying it was dormant etc and would be until the end of May. I again reported it was dead, they told me to do a bark scrape, which I duly did and proved it was dead. I requested a refund, having provided photographic evidence, at which point they refused to respond. Have spoken to trading standards to report them - apparently the law is slightly different in N Ireland but I used the English telephone number to report them, which I would advise anyone who is dissatisfied to do (took 5 mins) so that Trading Standards become aware of how bad they are. Going to bank to ask for a chargeback, in order to get the money refunded.
Bought 4 fruit trees, 3 have survived but the pear tree was not dormant but dead. The Company just did not care, their email replies just felt insulting. They then stopped communicating.
It's when things go wrong that Companies show their true nature. Don't buy from this one
Terrible little plants. Very few survived. Customer services completely disinterested - they try to make you pay return postage to Northern Ireland and will refuse returns on arrival if not alive - when they themselves send them out half Dead.
Plant was an extremely poor twig with dead buds when eventually arrived. Sent photo to Beechwood customer service who replied that this was a good healthy plant. Apart from clearly being blind the attitude was not helpful or friendly. I will never use this supplier again and would not recommend that anyone else does.
I understand the vagaries of sending plants by post but I think the attitude and service shown here was extremely poor.
Never ever again. I have bought trees online from many companies, and never had these issues. This is hands-down, the WORST I have ever come across. I ordered 7 or 8 different types of plant, many of each type, and not one was acceptable. The photo attached shows 120 trees. Apparently. Flat refusal to refund, or otherwise make good. Avoid avoid avoid!
Abusive customer service. Extremely poor products and customer service.
Avoid at all costs. Read the reviews.
I ordered a couple of "6-8 foot" silver birch trees.
What I received was a couple of dead twigs that were about 5ft tall.
I've tried three times to contact the company and been ignored, before months later getting an abusive email.
I will be taking this up with trading standards and the small claims court to recover my money.
Not as described, not fit for purpose, not durable or of expected quality.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Don't waste your money!
I had an unsolicited, abusive message from the company, which I added to my review for all to see.
I ordered a Phormium bronze new Zealand flax from this company. It turned up half dead. This is the second plant I have purchased online from different companies and both were awful! I will only be buying plants that I can look at first from now on.
Sent a tree half the size, then argued I didn't buy from them when I e-mailed to say the tree was dead. Then admitted it was theirs but I had killed the tree because I put it in a greenhouse, then ignored me. You always learn what a company is like when something goes wrong. They are a bunch of charlatans. Avoid at all cost.
I purchased 50 hawthorn trees via eBay. They arrived 10 February and I planted them by March 1st. I wrote to them on 6 April that they showed no signs of life, again on 29 April, and was told that the plants were 'dormant' and I should be patient. On 20th May, I asked for a refund as they all appeared to be dead. I was told I was an idiot to have planted them where I did (in the ground amongst grass) and that there is no refund for incompetence! Buy here at your peril. They take your money and sell you rubbish and insult you into the bargain. Avoid
Misleading advert with many positive reviews, but do some research before ordering. Many customers with terrible experiences. I received a tree with 3 branches, one of which had a pre-exisiting wound and I was advised by them to remove it. It now only has 2 branches on one side, won't stand up & certainly won't bare fruit without falling over. Really really poor.
Absolutely first rate service and attention to detail!
The plants all arrived in terrific shape, carefully nestled into thick straw bedding to make sure they withstood the journey well. My tree was tied into position in the carton so it didnt move and break any limbs.
SO impressed with how much they obviously cared enough to go the extra mile to make sure that I was happy with my purchase from them!
5 stars everyone - thank you!
I bought a selection of young trees from the 3 Fat Pigs / Beechwood Trees/ Beechwood Nurseries eBay store (3 names for the same place, which is a nursery in Ireland).
The seller sent the wrong trees (they look like Salix Fragilis instead of the Salix Caprea that I ordered). Since the trees were dormant when they arrived I could only tell there had been a mistake once the trees' leaves had fully opened, but unfortunately by this time I was outside the Ebay refund period.
In addition, the birch tree that I bought from them died. The tree was dormant when it arrived and never produced any leaves.
I message the seller several times through eBay and also emailed them but haven't heard back from them and it has been several months now.
I have done a Google search and found lots of other reviews from dissatisfied customers.
Ordered several Escallonia shrubs. The pictures show the quality of plants I received. I fear that all the plants have escallonia leaf spot which is a fungal infection that kills the plants. I have repotted them in the hope that they will recover. The company is not helpful in anyway. Just saying that I should trim them back and in the latest response post them back but as I said in my messages I have repotted them now... I am checking them every day to see if they survive. Poor plants, poor service...
This is the worse company I've ever come across. Terrible state of item purchased. And disgusting customer service. Now they won't give me my money back. Do not use this company are a total scam!
Bought a Tamarisk - identified it as dead - had repeated messages for 2 months - refused to give a refund.
Check out TRUST Pilot reviews.
Such a Sh*t company.
SUB STANDARD PLANTS AND APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Really wish I had read these reviews before I bought from them. **** AVOID THIS COMPANY ***** I ordered 250 2ft to 3ft bare root hedging plants. Could not believe how small the parcel was when it arrived, on checking I found that 160 plants were less than 2ft tall, in fact 70 ish were only just over 1 ft. Emailed them with a complaint. Bear in mind these are plants that need dealing with quickly. No response after 3 days, so phoned twice, on 4th day a cursory email arrived from Robert. No apologies, no explanation, just a one liner saying if I wasn't happy I could send them back. I asked for a returns label, or I said I would be happy if they replaced the 160 that were too small. Another 4 days later I chased by phone, finally got a one line email saying exactly the same one line as before. Wish I had taken notice of the various review platforms before I ordered. SUB STANDARD PLANTS AND APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE
3fatpigs also trade as Beechwoodtrees selling on Ebay.
I would advise anyone to avoid this company and buy from the many nurseries who will sell you quality products, give good aftercare and if something goes wrong, put it right!
I bought a bare root Quince tree via Ebay from this company, the tree arrived without any root protection and poorly packed. The tree was planted correctly, staked and kept damp. Spring came and went but the quince tree showed no sign of life. I contacted Beechwood to be told that it was due to the cold weather and not to worry. Sometime later I contacted them again, this time I was told they expected the tree to be in full leaf in 3 weeks. Nothing happened! Once again contacted Beechwood and sent photographs of the lifeless quince tree, they replied that there was green on the tree so it must be okay. I have no idea what they were looking at as the pictures I sent was of a completely dead tree. The reason they ask you to wait is after 30 days from purchase you cannot make a claim via Ebay, so they then ignore emails and you are the loser.
Have a look at other review sites, Trust Pilot rating is 60% bad! DO NOT BUY FROM BEECHWOODTREES ON EBAY
Had a diseased, sorry looking plant that has been eaten by pests!
Absolutely horrendous!
Customer service are appalling and unhelpful!
Staff confirmed that policy is to send out inferior items.
Dishonest.
Threatening when challenged.
Never buy from 3fatpigs
Answer: Yes, there are many honourable nurseries trading on the web who will answer emails and if you have a complaint and will sort it out.
Answer: Its a legit company trading on Ebay as Beechwood Trees
