Question:

Why won't you post my legitimate negative review on a house i rented in lincolnville maine on levenseller pond. i keep confirming my review. it's been over one week. i noticed that all the reviews are ridiculously glowing, as though the owner had posted them himself. he was a huge jerk, by the way. if you don't post legit reviews, what food is this website?

Answer:

Same issue for us. The house we rented had glowing reviews and when I tried to post an honest review it still has not been posted.

Question:

Answer:

I have had our condo on VRBO for years and most of renters pay with personal check. But I am also very quick to call and talk to renters in person and let them know they can pay via credit card or even PayPal. Obviously we prefer check because of the crazy PayPal fees, but we will do it if the renter feels more comfortable. As others have stated, everyone has to get their first rental. If you are concerned I would call and talk to the owner in person.

Question:

Answer:

Yes, but give serious consideration to honest mistakes. Did they have a max occupancy you overlooked or an additional charge on their rates for over 4 persons that you didn't read? They refunded you so it doesn't sound like it was their intention to overcharge you. My VRBO website for both my properties are very explicit about maximum guests, yet I get inquires constantly for more persons than what we have as the maximum. I try to be careful ton make sure the inquiry had no more than the maximum but in many cases they don't list the # or are honest about it. I have learned to have them confirm it explicitly but it's hard to remember when getting so many inquires everyday. I can see how an owner would not notice and rely on the stated max occupancy in their listing. I also suggest you look at the # of bedrooms and bed size to determine if it makes sense. I know some owners would rent their properties regardless but I don't allow more than 2 per bedrooin in consideration of my neighbors. Sadly, about 70% of my inquiries don't read the info on my website including the location, amenities, availability or rates. It's pretty frustrating.
