Yes, you will need to peel the film off the back of the ring to expose the adhesive :)

Hello Amberlynn! I'm sorry to hear about the ring issue! We suggest that you make sure you press on the back plate of the ring from all edges and hold it for 20-30 seconds. Also, check to make sure the ring is sticky on all areas of the adhesive. We also suggest leaving it applied to the case & under something heavy overnight!
The rings adhesive is meant to stick on any of our matte or gloss cases. It's best if you apply it immediately and press down on it hard to ensure it sticks firmly. However, rest assure the ring should adhere properly to your case if it is from Velvet Caviar :) Let me know if this helps!

They're definitely good quality. I wouldn't hesitate. I have the pink glitter case and holo flakes case and holo heart. All are gorgeous and I've had the holo flakes case over a year no issues and the pink glitter and holo hearts for about 6 months
