Here’s what consumers have asked with answers from thredUP staff and previous consumers.
I sent them a clean out bag recently. You get an email at the time you get your label - they ask if you want the clothing they rejected to be donated or do you want to pay a certain dollar amount to have the rejected clothing returned to you.
I agree with the last person. DO NOT sell them your clothes. Sell them on eBay or take to a local consignment store. I read their fine print, was very careful about what I sent them, and was completely ripped off. They kept 3 of my 6 items and gave me $2.75 total (after taking 6 weeks to process). One item was a Limited leather belt, one was an Eddie Bauer top with tags, and the last was a pair of Anne Taylor shoes I wore once.
I'm experiencing the same thing! I ordered a bag in early May and it is still processing. It will be my 4th bag. So I decided to see what happened when I ordered a bag from a new account and that bag was sent out (literally) less than a hour later. I am really curious why they are treating their seasoned sellers this way? I've actually had some good luck selling with them and almost everything they've bought has sold. But I always cash out through paypal so I wonder if they have preferential treatment for sellers who use their payout at Thredup? Anyway, it's frustrating and I'm thinking of finding alternative way to sell my items.
"Also, I feel like the payout is way below what it should have been. I will be receiving pennies compared to what they will make off the items. There were also other brand new items in that bag that I feel like are not truly going to be donated. I’m sure they will make a profit off of the items in some way behind the scenes, but that is the risk I took sending it blindly" I cut and pasted this other reviewer because i had the same experience. I put in several pairs of designer jeans. A pair of hudson skinnies that were purchased last year and received nothing. I should have asked for the bag back. Highly disappointed and seems shady.
Nothing I have ordered yet has had a smell or stain and that's over 200 pieces I've ordered to date. I wash everything, but I have been known to wear an item right out of the box if I'm too excited to wait. Oh well!
