I'm not sure about it right now. i cannot see my ratings but i got revoked in web and rush so now no jobs are available to me. no clue why this happened. i did short files and followed guidlines. out of 3 2 on mturk are approved and one is pending. what happened? I can't pass the 'basic qualification test' because i'm english and not american. i asked and said when i pass can i transcribe english and they said yes, but first you have to pass the basic qualification test, which is annoying because they are basically talking gibberish to me. so i have to pass an american test to transcribe english with an english accent? Answer:

The vast majority of our files contain speech in the English language. I apologize for any confusion regarding UK vs. US English. Many of our jobs contain speakers with US accents, however we do regularly receive files with UK speakers as well as non-native English speakers with various accents. The Basic Qualification test is intended to be a fair representation of some of our regular jobs. The purpose is to test for basic aural comprehension and transcription skills with speech and text in the English language. It is not intended to be tricky. It contains audible speech spoken by US-based individuals, and contains material that is common knowledge or easily found publicly by searching the internet.

Answer:

Due to the influx of qualification requests, it will take 3 days the latest to get your test results. However, it also pays to know that the qualification has prerequisites and advises: Before you take this test, please see the instructions below. YOU MUST have a substantial work history or your test will be rejected!

Hi there. this is alvi. i'm looking to apply as a transcriptionist. i am interested in whether jobs at speechpad can be done offline. thanks for your response.

We're happy that you're interested in becoming a transcriber and welcome you to our team. Please go here and register: http://bit.ly/1wmsQux Take the two mandatory qualifications tests (basic and confidentiality). If your rating is high enough, you can start transcribing right away. You can work offline in a sense that you are able to download the audio once you've passed and are able to accept a job. Just email us at worker@speechpad.com when you're ready to start.

Hi Liz, you are qualified for our entry level jobs. We have a steady stream of jobs coming in through the day but we have thousands of workers and jobs get taken very quickly. We actually have 200-300 new sign ups per day. You can click on Show Only Jobs I'm Qualified For and check back through the day. Otherwise please email us at worker@speechpad.com for any more concerns.

Since you're an independent contractor, we do not issue T4s for taxes. Please let us know if you have any other questions and we'll be happy to help.
